  1. This is not true and very hard to believe, especially your poor attempt at some sort of accent. Many of the doctors are U.S. and sign up for 2 week to month gigs. The doctor my wife saw was American, with his wife on a free paid vacation.

You’ve obviously never seen The Love Boat. But that was Princess.

  2. Emailed cards is by far the best option. If you want the $500 ones and have a PO Box billing address on your credit card, you can’t do it without a little bit of work. But it is possible. Change your billing address by contacting your cc company. Once you’ve ordered your gift card, change it back. If it rejects your cc, don’t keep trying. It hits your card each time as a pending charge. But it will clear out later.

  3. Can you ever get turned away for wanting to cash out from your players card. We use cash in ports and such. Traveler's Checks are getting harder and harder to find. I thought to get GiftCards, apply to players card, then cash out. But worried if they review you play and see 1 spin and you have cashed out say $100+, then next day the same thing could/would get denied.

I have this same concern. Don’t want to risk getting left holding gift cards.

  4. If you can get booking information from another guest that got the claim approved (I believe it was their booking number and claim number? Not entirely sure, but guest services can tell you) they will review it. But by that point for me it was the holidays and I was tied up w family obligations and work and wasn't going to hound a stranger on a message board for their booking info. I was also concerned that Scott would possibly rescind the claim approval for the other guest and I wasn't willing to risk that. After the holidays when I tried to take up the issue again it was too late and my time to submit a claim had passed.

I’m sorry that I am not willing to risk mine. But after my March cruise, I will post my information on here. Be very careful about how you check the boxes on the application form.

  5. Go get yourself a job as a waiter/waitress and then tell yourself that they are not wages.

Gratuities are adjustable wages based on the temperament of the person being served.

So do you think it should have nothing to do with the amount of service you receive?

  6. You should tip regardless of age. A ship has a maximum capacity, and a 1 year old can take the place of a 21 year old. It's not fair to the crew to have reduced wages because of your child. Carnival does not require tips for under 2, but I sure as heck tipped for my toddler.

Gratuities are not wages. They should be based on the amount of work they do for the passenger. Teenage boys should get double charged. They vacuum the floor once whether there is 1 person in cabin or 4. But 4 people use more towels and mess up more beds. So tip based on how much work you cause them. Average is $12.95 per day. That’s a starting point.

  7. To use a passport as your citizenship document on a cruise, it will only be required to be valid through the end of the cruise. But if you have an emergency where you have an extended stay in a foreign country and the passport expires while you are there, you will not be able to fly back with an expired passport. That is why you should have some cushion. Required, no. Good idea, definitely.

  8. Leaving Sunday 2/4 on the Breeze from Galveston. Had email from Carnival yesterday saying due to the previous cruise disembarking late, all passengers for this cruise should add an hour to their scheduled arrival time. Have others received an email like this, for any port?

How do they know it disembarked late when that doesn’t happen until 3 days from now?

  9. Google offers a Trip Advisor Page with reviews, a twitter page, a Facebook page, Instagram and a U-tube channel (no vids) and their own website. Whew, I had never heard of them but they sure have a web presence.

That’s what worries me. Lots of presence but nothing that seems trustworthy. Only 7 reviews on trip advisor and 25 on Facebook. And all of the ratings and reviews are top level. Nobody ever gets 100% 5’s.

  10. If you are doing the Lamanai ruins with Carnival in Belize, make sure you try to price match with this company. https://belizecruiseexcursions.com/ You book through Carnival, and then fill out and submit the price match form with Carnival. If they approve, they will give you an onboard credit for 110% of the price difference. Saved us $50 each. Easy peasy.

In Costa Maya, we loved Tropicante. Very cheap and very relaxing. Look them up on trip advisor.

  11. If I apply a couple of Carnival gift cards to my onboard account, can I transfer the excess to my casino account, pull a couple of slots, and cash out the remaining?

  12. It could happen, but if so, I think it would be an option. For example: you could book a cabin for a 7 day cruise for $799 per person including meals in the MDR and other "free" venues. You may have the option of a fare of $699 per person exclusive of free meals meaning buffet, pizza, and deli are your only free choices. You could still dine in a formerly free venue for $25 pp per visit.

Would that interest me? Nope. But it would attract buffet lovers and the budget conscious cruiser.

I think you said it better than I did.
