  1. I think there are 2 better options. 1: buy a nice water bottle before cruising and just have the bartenders refill it with water. Did that all week on a recent cruise and it was great. Got several positive comments. 2: buy the case of water onboard. It will cost you around $15 more than on land, but you won't have to tip your porter or carry it around with you. It will be delivered to your room. You're on a cruise. Go for convenience.

  2. I am looking for suggestions on what to do. We disembark in Fort Lauderdale in the morning, but our flight out of Miami is not until around 8:00. It is just my wife and I. We have done the boat tour of the area houses and also the airboat ride and aligator farm tour that Princess offers as an excursion. We currently don't have any transportation arranged for anywhere. Thought about renting a car, but not excited about driving. Kind of interested in going to South Beach or any beach area. We are up for any suggestions.

  3. My wife and I are in our early 40's and are cruising ti St. Martin in January. Looking for our best options to accomplish the following. Last time on the island, we went to Orient Beach and to the Airplane Beach. Don't care to see the airplanes again. Will need to be able to access by taxi.

    What we are looking for:

Nice area for shopping. (looking for more stuff along the lines of locally made stuff and not commercial stuff)

Nice beach with plenty of shade for me and plenty of sun for the wife. Pretty scenery, nice sand, chairs, and decent restrooms. Water condition is not a big deal.

    Any suggestions are appreciated.

  4. My wife and I are disembarking in Port Everglades and flight doesn't leave MIA until after 8:00 pm. Plan to use the Princess bag service, so won't have luggage to deal with. Been on all the Princess offered tours. They are good, but want to do something different. Thinking about renting a car and just driving around sight seeing. Food and beach would be good. Any suggestions on where to get rental car? Can you rent it at the port or would we need to get a cab to somewhere to rent it? Since going to MIA, it will be one-way. Any suggestions on what places to visit? I am open to anything right now. Would even consider using cab service to places instead of renting a car.

  5. On the Crown and Carribean Princess, I always used the thermal spa and then took my daily showers in the Lotus Spa area. Much more roomy and never crowded. On the Regal, I see that the Enclave is on a separate deck from the fitness area. I always tried to get a cabin close to the Lotus Spa because both the showers and thermal spa were there, but I am not sure what to do on the Regal. Are there good showers available in the Enclave area or would I be better off using the ones in the fitness area.

  6. Can you please tell me how to get to the viewing deck above the bridge? Hopefully we can do this when we get on board next week.

Only those that have been on the Caribbean Princess before may access this area.

Just kidding. On my first Princess cruise about 5 years ago, I think I was the only one on the ship that knew about this area (thanks cruise critic) and it was an awesome place for serenity. Now it gets a bit crowded at times.

  7. Hey neighbor; very familiar with Stillwater, we have grads out of OSU.....Go Cowboys!

We have been out of NOLA 3 time and figured we would try Houston. It would be nice to see a better variety of itineraries from Princess out of Houston; maybe they will come with time.

We really enjoy sailing out of NOLA but really prefer to sail Princess.

Go Pokes! OSU grad here. We live about 20 miles North of Owasso. Driving to Princess cruise out of Bayport in a couple of weeks. Can't wait.

  8. I just wanted to confirm my understanding. Is it true that when we pull up to the curb at Bayport, the porters will take our checked luggage right then and we don't see it again until it gets to our cabin? And all we have to pay is what we decide to tip the porter? And this includes any cases of water or soda?

  9. I don't think it's unsafe; just not a great area. I think you should be fine. How are you getting to the port?

That's our other issue to figure out. There are 12 of us. A shuttle at $20 each is crazy. Probably going to drive 2 cars to port to deliver everyone and luggage and then drive back to hotel and leave 1 there and park other one back at port.

Any other ideas for reasonable money would be appreciated.

  10. We used Candlewood Suites in La Porte before our 11/30/2013 cruise.

We were dropped off, but if you need to park there, it's free (NASA area hotels charge $5 to $7 a day).

Their "Candlewood Weekend" rate of $87 beat even the AAA rate when I booked online.

Since they are an extended-stay type of place, there's a big grocery store across the street, and kitchenettes in the rooms. I ran next door to Waffle House to grab breakfast pre-cruise.

I used their 24/7 Business Center, and a lot of paper, printing last-minute invites to ship's officers to our Meet & Greet.

We were going to call a cab to go to port, but the hotel told us about their port shuttle van, running hourly, with a charge of $20 but this also covers your return shuttle back to the hotel.

17 miles from Hobby Airport for your cab fare calculations.

Tell them I said "Hi" if you stay there!

    Rick

Is the shuttle $20 per person or $20 per room?

  11. We have a group of 13 (all family) cruising together on the Carribean Princess and would like to eat together most evenings. On a couple of nights there may only be 10. Is it possible for all 13 of us to be seated together and would it be better to be anytime dining or traditional dining.
