Please contact Princess through their online forum or other methods to express your support for the BVE experience!  I was just talking with a friend today who has never been on a cruise, and this would have been a great way to provide an introduction to the wonderful world of cruising.

I did submit an online comment and received a generic "we saw your comment" response, but I hope that if enough of us submit comments then they will have an impact.

Here is the link to the page where we can file a comment with Princess.   I did not find a specific email address, only this online form.  https://book.princess.com/captaincircle/customerCare.page.  To use this you will need to input a booking number.  I just used one from a prior cruise.

Thank you! I will do that!  Lois😊

  2. Absolutely loving this review!  Your concise writing style and photos are amazing!  It may be time for an upgrade from my iPhone 6+ to an 11 Pro, if that is what you said you have!  (About time, anyway!) I’m looking forward to more of your review, and wishing it was for more than a seven day cruise! 😊

  3. I just discovered that the Bon Voyage Experience was cancelled shortly after we took friends on one last year.  It was a wonderful opportunity to introduce friends to cruising, visit a ship new to us, and add to our Future Cruise Deposit bank. We were looking forward to bringing some more folks on board when we depart in May.  To say I am disappointed is an understatement!

I bring coffee, read and watch the passing views from the big comfy chairs in the Coral Library.  Most other Princess libraries don’t really seem that conducive to spending much time, but would likely bring my beverage if I stopped by.

The Coral library is lovely and the only one I’ve seen that is appealing to spend time in. The Coral also has that wonderful game room with tables for games and puzzles!  It is a shame that this area was removed from the Island...but that is another story.

The old FCCs were discontinued in 2012.  I sure miss them. It was basically free money - OBC applied on the future cruise when the certificate was "bought" on your current cruise.  It wasn't really a purchase, though, just a $100 deposit, that would then be applied to the cruise fare of the future cruise.  The amount of OBC one received from the FCC depended on the length of the cruise - up to $200.

Here's the CC article announcing the end of the program:

Wow!  I didn’t know Carnival once had that program.  It is wonderful, and we have used it many times on Princess.  I hope it is never discontinued!

We were on a cruise one time and friends received  a message from their daughter that there was a fatal accident back home. Princess let them make as many calls as needed with no charge. I am sure in this instance they will accommodate everyone as best as possible. Thankfully most of those passengers not affected would have cell service while in port and be able to make contact with loved ones. We did a float plane on our trip to Ketchikan and had this happened I would of made sure to reach out to my daughter to let her know we were safe since our bear trip was something we anticipated for months.

Agreed.  We were on the Ruby in December 2017 when the Thomas Fire occurred in Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties.  We were concerned about our friends and niece, and Princess was very gracious to allow us to make calls.  Our niece lost her home of 40 years and was quite shaken, but it was good to talk to her and know she was okay.

NCL Haven courtyard balconies are similar. A little better but not by much. Aft suites deliver on balcony size but mom does not like to be aft. We are spending our time in the sanctuary anyway. We did not book the suite for the balcony. We booked for the amenities and room size. The room is really nice!

It is wonderful that you are happy with your Royal suite!  I agree...the room size and amenities (Sabatini’s for me!) are so worth it.  I must admit that aft suites on the older ships are my preference, for both the balcony size and the wake!

May you continue to have a Bon Voyage! 😊

not going to repost the pics ... again ... but wow, now I see what people have been posting about the balconies on the Royal and Regal ... so narrow ... it's almost a one person balcony now ... might as well take the 'extra' chair inside :classic_biggrin:

That suite balcony is shocking...even sad for a mini-suite or balcony cabin!

I've not received that email regarding boarding times.....only the usual one for pre-cruise information but nothing about boarding time delayed.  We're going to show up at our usual time of 11am and hope for the best.

We have received the staggered boarding notices out of San Pedro for several years and have never followed the information.  We have typically been at the port by 10:30, and boarded by 11:30.  There was an ever so slight delay when we boarded the Coral on March 17th (from the tent, as the Ruby was also in port...don’t like the facility) but were on by noon.  We were in boarding group #1 and experienced no problems. 😊

That sounds OK to me. Just bring in 1 chair from the balcony.

    Problem solved.

A few years ago we were up in arms about the uncomfortable replacement balcony furniture.  Some folks decided to forgo a balcony room in favor of an outside cabin (no longer an option on the Royal Class) and a spot in the Sanctuary.  In my opinion, a balcony chair is a worse option than the bed for seating, and a second seat is needed.

These days we typically book a mini-suite, and occasionally a suite, for the additional space, tub, and seating.  However, on a shorter itinerary, I would book a balcony.  The closet / dressing area is the reason a sofa is not possible, but I do love that area!

We are on the Coral this Sunday March 17th, 19 day Panama Canal. My cruise personalizer has only showed ship to shore phone minutes available, no internet packages at all are available for pre-purchase. We are Platinum and are hoping we will receive something towards internet. Has anyone been on the Coral since her upgrades and have any info on internet? 19 days would be a long time to not have communications with the home front. I called Princess and they said all of the ships have internet packages, so they had no answers to why my personalizer shows no package available.

We are on the same cruise and my personalizer also shows only ship to shore minutes available, and no internet packages available for pre-purchase.  I’m sure they will have packages on board, but a heads up would be nice.  The ship goes Medallion on the cruise following ours.  I am curious how our service will be.  My husband and I each get the Platinum complimentary 250 minutes, but 500 minutes for 19 day is not a lot!

  12. Croptop, although this is somewhat late, I would like to thank you for taking the time to post this wonderful review.  I love your sense of humor, and would truly love to have read your experiences on the sea days!  I’ve made this trip twice and the first time in 2007 was when I determined that I looove sea days!

I hope all is well in your part of the world, and that Spring will come soon and kick out those snow days!

  13. I do believe that free upgrades rarely happen these days in the “upsell” age, if ever.  But, if you are adamant about staying in you location, and have given the “no upgrade” word to Princess, I would still keep an eye on your email and booking.

A number of years ago we had selected the exact mini suite location we wanted for our Alaska cruise.  To say I was unhappy when we checked in and were told we had been moved would be a gross understatement!  As we headed aft to our new cabin my frustration began to turn to anticipation and disbelief.  We had been upgraded to an aft Penthouse Suite on the Sapphire!  We had been notified by email three days prior but we were already in Anchorage visiting our grandson and not getting online.  It was an amazing surprise.

P.S. I have been using IE on a PC and didn't even know others were having a problem until I saw this thread.  I've been in and out of my personalizer many times since Saturday.

The only problem I’ve found this morning is in pricing specific cruises.  Some work, some don’t.  I’ve had no problem getting into my personalizer.  As I mentioned above, I am on an iPad.  Perhaps all will soon be fixed!

There was a notice yesterday that parts of the site would be unavailable from 8am (pst) to 11pm today (Sunday 12/9) due to site maintenance.

Parts of the site are still unavailable to me.  “Sorry for the inconvenience...”.  I’m on my iPad and haven’t attempted to get on on any other device.
