  1. Oh my goodness, I’m so sorry about the mess I’ve made on this thread while attempting to make a simple remark!  I think I’ll go back to lurking!

Just one more thing though, before I do that...I hate the new Princess website.  It used to be so much easier to navigate than other lines but that is no longer the case.

Preview still exists, just a different way to see it.

Classic case of what happens when they let the whiz kids sit at the big table and justify their jobs by "fixing" things that aren't broken.

I do most of my online searches and bookings for cruises through the website of my big box warehouse club's travel department.  They let me search across many cruise lines for my travel date window and destination, and then search for and select decks and cabins in a user friendly manner.  I rarely use any cruise line's website for anything other than entering my passenger info and printing my luggage tags.

I often wonder if the people who design things ever actually use them?

Thank you!  I hated not being able to preview.

Thank you, caribill!  Now I see the way to preview, but not edit.  I believe we used to be able to edit within the preview box, but since I’m more of a lurker, I’m not sure! 🙂

Yes I noticed them too. I am in Ca as well. The pages load really slow. You can no longer “view all dates” and see the prices and dates. You only see the dates when you click on “more dates” so you have to click each date to see the prices so you can no longer quickly see which date is the cheapest across all categories.

The calander View is gone. I liked the old calendar view bc you could instantly see how far out the itineraries were posted (true you didn’t know which were up but if you selected May 2020 you instantly knew how many were posted so it was a really fast way to check for any additions).

I really hope this new website gets kicked to the curb. Princess had the best and easiest to use website of all  the cruise lines sites I’ve used. It is one of the reasons I chose princess as my main line over celebrity when I first started cruising 3 years ago.

I just hate poorly designed websites. Why on earth would Princess replace a great site with this horrible inferior site?

Totally agree with all!  Plus, I now see that I can no longer “Preview Post” on this Cruise Critic Board so I have no idea how this will show up! 😊

  4. We did the full transit - 17 days LA to FLL - in 2015 and are doing a 19 day partial (same direction) this November. It sounds as if the excursion folks love is when one is traveling from FLL. Does anybody have experience with such an excursion going the other way?

Thrak, we will be doing the LA to LA 19 day partial in March 2019. It appears a tour while in transit is not an option, which is a disappointment for me. We enjoyed staying onboard during the full transit and had hoped to take part in a tour similar to those offered on the FLL partial transits but none are offered on this itinerary. Does anyone know why?

  5. I’m all for evolving. Times are a changin’ and I get it. But this cruise, more than all the others, felt like a totally different cruise line. Which, for me, is very sad because it’s not the cruise line I fell in love with so many years ago.

Maybe it was just a fluke??? Maybe Princess will read these threads and see the comments from the Princess diehards?? I dont’ know, but I’m hoping it all gets better (and not worse....)

    Thanks,

    -Andrew :)

So very sad to hear you say that cruise felt like a “totally different cruise line.” Many things have changed in the relatively short time, 10 years, that we have been sailing Princess. Although the loyalty benefits are wonderful, I have been seriously feeling the need to try another line. It is sad for me, but it would not hurt Princess one bit. Their ships will still sail full!

Andrew, I look forward to hearing about your experiences on Princess, as well as other lines! It is truly a pleasure to read your reasonable and heartfelt posts.

  6. Does anyone know if you get free bottled water replaced daily in a full suite??? It seems to list it that you do, on the Princess site under accommodations, then under full suites. The reason I asked is a few months ago I thought I read here on CC that some ships were giving it & some were not. We have never gotten it, but was hoping it was something new.

    Thanks for the info, :halo:

We just returned yesterday from the 10 day Ruby cruise. I pre-purchased the 12 bottles prior to the cruise and left 12 in the cabin when we departed. We received two bottles a day...guess that was enough for us! I don't recall that from past cruises, but I did miss chocolate covered strawberries! :)

  7. When I was son the Ruby the breakfast was served in the Crown Grill.

Thank you for the info. I’m disappointed as I absolutely loved the aft pool view of Sabatini’s. It was so relaxing and a great way to start the day. It has been a couple of years since I was on the Ruby...I don’t remember what Crown Grill was like!

  8. I don't see the breakfast included in Sabatinis anymore??

It says "Complimentary specialty dining mimosa breakfast (Daily)" That is possibly because not all ships have Sabatini's.

We will be on the Ruby in a few weeks and I was very sad to see a photo from a current review...Sabatini's is gone. It is now Curtis Stone's share.:( If that is where the suite breakfasts will be served, the view is still great, but the atmosphere looks a bit cold to me.

  9. I just took an upsell offer for $149 pp from a premium balcony to a mini-suite on the Regal, Dec. 17th, 11 day Christmas cruise. This is probably my 3rd offer like this. I have over 17 cruises and I have had a few free upgrades too.

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Sounds like a great deal! Enjoy your Christmas cruise!

  10. We received and accepted an upsell from a premium view to a window suite. We were told by cruise critic members to ask for the double cruise credits. We asked the captain's circle rep onboard, who claimed she couldn't do it and to call when we got home. Once home, we called and were denied. After much home discussion, we decided to call again as it wasn't an upgrade, it was an upsell and we paid for the room. A couple phone calls later, we both received our extra cruise credit. It took perseverance on our parts, insistence and whining, but we got them.

You will/would have to do the same if you want the extra cruise credit.

The Captain’s Circle on board told me that as long as it is a paid upgrade, 2 credits are given. This was a couple of years ago, not too long, I think, after the upsells began. She just added an additional cruise to our history but with 0 extra days.

Hope I don’t have to work too hard this time!

  11. I just did an upsell from balcony to minisuite with gratuities included in original booking. It is showing the new amount of gratuities prepaid, so it looks like for some promotions they will still be included even with the upsell.

That’s interesting! My booking shows Paid Gratuities for guests 1&2, but no amount. The upsell agent told me I would be responsible for the additional $1/pp/day. We’ll see what happens. :)

  12. I’m not sure about the onboard credit situation when using a future cruise credit but, if paid gratuities were included with the original cabin, you will also be responsible for any difference in the gratuity amount.

One good thing, if taking an upsell to a suite, is that you will get credit for 2 cruises. Chances are this will not be done automatically, but the Captain’s Circle Rep on board should take care of it.

  13. Just want to keep this thread going!

Personally, I like the upsell idea as there is greater opportunity to get an upgraded cabin and, you are able to view available cabins on the Princess website.

We were once lucky enough to be upgraded from a mini-suite to an aft full balcony, but chances are slim. We’ve since received several upsell opportunities, accepting some, passing on others.

Most recently, we declined an upsell to a Club Class mini but jumped at the opportunity to upgrade to an aft suite on the following cruise. It was a steep price, at $599/pp for a 10 day trip, and the location is probably the least desirable suite, but we are happy to have it!:D

  14. I have had a few upgrade offers and several upsell offers, all via email. A couple of days ago I discovered an upsell offer from our mini to a full suite. Although it was a bit pricey, and the two remaining available suites were not in the best locations, we were excited to be able to obtain one for our upcoming 10 day cruise!

The email indicated that the offer was to people in any of the mini suite categories, so it does not appear that location was a consideration for this offer. So excited! We just love those aft suites!
