  1. I was on the hump on deck 6. I only heard some people walking by during the day but it was quiet at night. I actually had a worse time with the balcony dividers ferociously rattling in the wind. I'm not sure if the hump balconies had worse wind because they stuck out. Be prepared to fold up some compasses and stick them in the cracks. I got the idea after spotting one stuffed in there from someone before me. That helped tremendously. I slept much better after that.

  2. I am in a very similar, very tense boat (no pun intended) myself. I will be coming back on the Oasis in Fort Lauderdale and booked a return flight at 10:45 AM. I am already planning to do self-debark at 6:15 AM or so but, reading the boards, some people say I may be at the airport by 7:15, while others say I could very well miss my flight if even the slightest delay occurs.

I easily made a 10:45 flight out of FLL after my allure cruise. The couple next to me on the plane had just gotten off their cruise in Miami and they made it. Now that I probably wouldn't have tried, but you will be fine in FLL.

  3. In march, I had 4 sports bottles of water in my checked bag on liberty. My bag was "late" so I had a feeling they were checking it. There was an orange note in the bag that they searched it but they did not confiscate the water. I was just annoyed because things I packed carefully to not get crushed were all over the place. They obviously were just aimlessly digging around for the water. Maybe I'll get a lock too.

  4. I found this on liberty in march. I drank less. So royal actually made less money on me. I think they're trying to push people to the package. About 4 of those $14 martinis including tax a day would make the package worth it. I'm not sure if I'll have that many on my 9 day cruise to warrant a $500 drink package.

  5. I have a group of 8 in 4 rooms. To make a set MTD reservation for all of us at a certain time, do I only need all 4 booking numbers to set it up myself online when dining opens up? Setting up reservations in advance was so nice the last time but we were only one room. We knew we wouldn't have to wait long for a table.

(Though this does defeat the point of MTD.)

  6. Hi Justmekaren...

Reading your review and noticed you had one of the "hump" cabins on deck 9 on the liberty...How did you like the hump and would you recommend that type of balcony room. I don't want to go as high as 9, but thinking of a hump cabin (if still any left) on Deck 6..I love that it' near the elevator, but did you find alot of noise from elevator, foot traffice, etc. Please let me know.

    Thanks in advance.:)

I had a hump on 6. You could see my door when getting off the elevator. The noise wasn't really bad at night. But my balcony divider was extremely noisy. That noise kept me up at night. I didn't know if I was just unlucky or if it was extra windy because I was on the hump. I stuck a lot of cruise compasses in those dividers that week. I even had maintenance come up and look at it.

  7. I got off liberty a couple weeks ago. I wasn't sick like you unfortunately were and I felt the same about the wj food. I ate pasta for every lunch because it was all I found to eat. It was the same choices for every lunch. Breakfast was the same too. That syrup was gross. Did I go hungry? No. But I could tell they were serving cheap food. I was very un-wowed by the food this cruise.

I still had a good time as I don't cruise to eat. Shows were surprisingly good for a cruise ship. Don't miss silent disco.

  8. I wouldn't have a problem if kids walked through the solarium. A few came in with their parents and walked around quietly and even took some pictures of themselves. I only saw the deck patrol poloitely ask some kids in the pool to leave. I even saw a woman with a sleeping baby in a stroller in the solarium. Don't worry about a pass through the area with your kids. Don't go out of your way to avoid it.

  9. I have a few quick questions. My husband, two sons and I will be on the Liberty in early June for a 9-night cruise out of Bayonne, NJ (so excited!!). We will have two rooms: a balcony room for us and a promenade room directly across the hall for our sons. I wondered a few things:

    1. What dispensers do they have in the shower? Soap? Shampoo? Conditioner?

JUST A SHAMPOO/CONDITIONOR COMBO. I BROUGHT MY OWN EVERYTHING

    2. Are there robes in the room?

I AM PLATINUM. THERE WAS A CRIWN AND ANCHOR ROBE FOR ME.

    3. Are the safes the kind where you enter a code or swipe a card with a magnetic strip? NUMBER CODE

    4. I am pretty sure I read there is a hair dryer in the room. Can you please confirm.HAIR DRYER WAS IN THE DRAWER

    5. Are there any things you wished you had taken that you didn’t?

    NOPE.

    6. Any hints about the ship you would like to share?

TRY THE SHOWS. THEY WERE MUCH BETTER THAN I THOUGT THEY'D BE

    Thanks so much.

Sorry for the shouty caps. I'm typing on my phone and can't change the color too easily. I just got off Saturday. Be prepared for expensive drinks. That's my only real complaint. I'll be going out of Bayonne in august on liberty.

  10. I just got off liberty this morning. Funny this thread started this week because I was thinking that the drink prices were outrageous. Mudslides were $10+ $1.80 grat and a chocolate martini I ordered in the theater was $12 + grat. Yes, $14 for a cocktail!!! I couldn't believe it. It's not like I was at a fancy bar where you already assume drink prices will be high. I usually like a drink or two a day, not enough for a package. But I hardly drank with those prices.

Are they trying to get people to rationalize that it's better to share 1 drink package than buy a couple per person each day?

  11. I'll have my daughter and her friend with me, both on college spring break. I expect total craziness, but I'm sure they'll have a blast. My Kindle will be ready to go. I plan on spending time in the solarium and my balcony. I'm sure I'll have fun, it will just be a different cruise than the one I'll be taking in September.

Crowded ship vs. staying home and working out in the cold???

Jules we are on the same sailing. I think the college kid craziness will actually be entertaining to watch. (As long as they don't wake me up in the middle of the night). I like lounging by the pool with my kindle and people watching. I also have a balcony assuming we get to sail somewhere. I would be ok with even nearby Nassau.

  12. Your items are fairly safe in the hotel or cruise safe. I've never had a problem with a cruise safe, and that includes accidentally leaving it wide open last cruise and the steward had been in my room for turn-down.

Hotel safes can be accessed by security if they need (just like on a cruise), but don't forget that there are cameras in the hall ways and they can see if someone entered your room.

I don't travel with valuable jewelry or too much cash.

  13. Great thread. Gets me excited for my upcoming trip.

The first walk up the gangway on embarkation day

The moment I turn off the phone as we pull away and lock it up for a week.

Meeting new friends and all the random conversations I'll have. People are so much more friendly on a cruise than at home.

    Being pampered.
