  1. Last night, I noticed the 1st upsell offer we ever received in our entire cruising history. 🎉

We booked a balcony guarantee for a price that fit our budget. The offers (shown below) would take us way outside of our lil vacation budget. So, we will not be taking any. 😏

Today I noticed an email that said we could upgrade for $92 per cabin! 🥳 But when I went to carnival’s website, the only offers that show are what I’ve already seen.😝

Oh well. At least I can join the crowd who has received an upsell offer. 😂

Oh now that is so sweet of your husband. It inspires me to do something fun for my husband.

    Do it!! 😊

DH has continued his sweet surprises over the years. All of them special in their own way.

Like others, I tried to surprise DH with an upgraded stateroom on a cruise. I usually handle all of the bookings. In Dec. 2007, we booked and OV. Later, I paid to upgrade us to a balcony. I almost made it!!!!  He had no idea until we checked in at the port. The woman at the counter said: “Ooh! Enjoy your Balcony!” 😳 🙄

I avoided eye contact with DH until he couldn’t hold his laughter any longer. Then we both started laughing. 🤣

He appreciated my efforts so much that he went along with the “surprise” that was ruined in my eyes. Once he stepped into the stateroom he said in his best Broadway play voice: “Wow! You did this for me?? You love me…you really love me!”

    Priceless! 🤣🤣🤣

Don’t worry whatever you do, it will awesome and special! Enjoy!

  3. I love the idea of a surprise! Good on you.

My DH surprised me with a cruise to Canada back in 2004. He left a message on a VHS tape that I watched that morning. (yup, I said VHS)  That started me off on a scavenger hunt around the house, eventually leading me to a half packed suitcase. Inside i found instructions to finish packing, and be on public transportation by a certain time to get to W 57 Street & 11th Ave in Manhattan. During the train ride I had to do a word puzzle that he created to get the combination for a lock. 😳 The boarding pass, and my passport was in the small front compartment of the suitcase which was locked.  I was so scared I would miss my train stop, because I was concentrating so hard. 🤣

Once I arrived in front of the Helena building, I opened the compartment to find a my travel documents! Then I heard the horn of a ship! Excellent timing! I was jumping up and down in the street like a lunatic, and I didn’t care who was watching! I trotted up street to the pier and saw DH standing there with the widest smile. 😃 He said “I knew you’d make it”!  🤗 He booked our first and only aft balcony. I was overcome by his thoughtfulness. ☺️

Truly hope your suite surprise goes just the way you planned in your mind and heart!

It pays to check to see if an upgrade button is available when looking at the Booking and Order Details page 🙂

Yep, I keep checking our Booking and Order Details page as well as the To Do list in the planner, but nothing yet. Other posters on CC have seen their upsell off there as well. Been cruising since ‘95, and never once got a upsell call/email, etc. If we don’t get an offer, my feelings won’t be hurt. (I think 🙃 🙂 😂)

Happy for all those who received an offer that was worth the money!

  5. Just wanted to add a screenshot. FTTF is offered for the Jan 23rd, 4-day cruise out of Long Beach, CA. When I went to see what’s included in this purchase, Carnival added a note stating the following:

(Note: VIFP Club Diamond & Platinum members do not need to purchase this package as these and other benefits are included as part of your VIFP Club status.)

  6. Yes, bringing wine or champagne onboard during embarkation is allowed. One 750-ml bottle per person, in the carryon.
If they want to drink it in the MDR, a corkage fee will be incurred.
If they prefer to drink the wine in their cabin, the fee is not incurred. They just need to bring a wine opener. They may ask their stateroom attendant for wine glasses to use.

Here is a screenshot from Carnival’s website:

  7. Thanks for posting your updates. Now I know where the look for the upsell offer, that is if we are ever offered one.
In all our cruises, we never received an upsell offer that I know of - not via email, not a call, and not in my To-Do List. And I am the type that checks our reservations daily, just to be sure it is not a dream that we will be sailing. 🛳️ 🤣

    Happy Sailing.

  8. Kudos to you!

We do airline sized carryons and a backpack for our 7 day cruises. For us, it’s worth it to be completely unpacked by 3pm on embarkation day.

I struggle with the idea for an AK cruise, or an itinerary beyond 9 days. But I think if we plan to do laundry halfway through, we can do it.

  9. I also used the “claim past cruise” button for DH. [Carnival Victory cruise to Canada in 2004] He still doesn’t have those VIFP points to this day.  It’s funny that he booked the cruise as a surprise 1st anniversary trip for me - I got points, but he did not. 🤷🏽‍♀️

We are booked on the Radiance (formerly known as Victory) in a few months. I sure hope he gets these points.

  10. We can confirm both the cabin walls (& ceiling) and the cabin door are magnetic. We used magnetic hooks in our cabin on the panorama. I tested the outside of the cabin door with the same magnetic hooks just to be able to answer questions like this one. 🙂
