  1. That is so wrong. Prior to FTTF, there were notices on the CLOSED big doors stating that the cabins wouldn't be ready until 1:30, or sometimes you were handed the notice as you boarded. NO ONE had the right to go to their cabin before then.

Now let me get the popcorn as the posts come rolling in about how they always dropped their bags off, the big doors were never closed, etc, etc, etc.....

No flames here. DW and I have never gone to our room to drop carry ons since becoming Platinum, except on ships that had FTTF. I had never read (as some believe) that as Platinum, I could have early access to the room. FTTF has helped in that area since we can now also go to our room early. Prior to FTTF, 1st 15 CCL cruises, the earliest we had ever been able to get to our room was 1PM.

  2. Patience has worn thin. We met another couple on the Panama Canal cruise with over 30 cruises and one on the TA that are diamond. We were all planing another bigger cruise together and they are aware of this deal. Namely the Australian 23 day cruise. One of them went outside carnival and all of us are now booked on another TA for next fall. Quite frankly we have been so happy with Carnival I never looked beyond. Carnival lack of loyalty has become a 2 way street with some pretty faithful Carnival crusiers.

Despite the lower rates, many long time loyal CCL cruisers are "looking outside CCL" for their next cruise.

  3. Ultimately it is our responsibility to confirm that payments are indeed paid. However, in your defense, I do believe CCL dropped the ball on this as you were led to believe there would be automatic draws on your credit card.

Lesson to be learned, don't rely on anyone at CCL to actually know what is going on, and always confirm things yourself.

  4. Hi, Mike. Yes, I would book another premier cruise. The great rate, casino cash, and free drinks card make it worthwhile. Now that I have experienced the premier and know what to expect, I can try to plan my trips to the casino during non-peak times since they keep the casino open 24 hours on sea days. And I can just skip the drawings again. The welcome aboard cocktail party was really enjoyable too.

Thanks. Seems like I have been receiving these offers quarterly. DW and I usually book 1-2 months prior to sailing, so seems this may be the way to go.

  5. No kidding there!

Yeah sure, the gaudy fun (Farcus) Vegas thing was appropriate 20 yrs. ago

but we've all grown up now, Carnival Cruises including.

Fun Ships don't have to be gaudy.

Do something imaginative, per dry dock.

Hire female interior designers and see what they suggest.

    .

But CCL has a certain image to live up to.

  6. This morning dh received an email from Carnival for an entry into the Guest Appreciation Sweepstakes. I didn't receive one.

Every cruise that is booked, all communications with Carnival, is done by me with my email address.

So I am curious. Why is he always receiving things like this and I get nothing from Carnival.

CCL doesn't like you evidently. They are after the new cruiser, not repeaters. You are a repeater, so no Emails!

  7. While there have been some good, logical suggestions, I don't look for most of these to happen. For what they charge, CCL can not do the following:

Hire more staff for the MDR

    Have Production shows

Restore the Calypso Band and eliminate the DJ/Canned music on Lido

Restore good steak in MDR, not the flat iron they now serve

Would love different ships from Charleston and Jacksonville. They move ships around a lot, but never change these. Add reciprocal agreements for Loyalty Program to all Carnival Corp. Lines. I could add many more, but it is all wishful thinking and won't happen, so no need to spend time on it.

  8. I think the food is still good, they have learned to cook less expensive cuts of beef rather well but the service is not what it used to be as the servers have too many people to take care of.

Last cruise we did anytime dining for first time and each dinner took about 2 1/2 hours. It was ok as we cruised with two other couples and had a great time with them.

Otherwise dinner would have seemed like an eternity.

There is no way DW and I would spend 2 1/2 hours for a meal in the MDR.

  9. Nice fellow that has to much on his plate and lots falls between the cracks.

I set up two with him that never happened.

However he chooses to publish letters from CC people that show CC in a terrible light and somehow manages to select one each day. And of course he does this on purpose.

Just like the media, this is what keeps him popular to some. Always cast the light elsewhere so no one can see your faults. Some adore him, others despise him. Me, I could care less whether he writes a blog or not.

  10. I keep seeing mention of a "Premier" cruise- what is that?

I was wondering the same thing myself.

    .

The Premier Casino Cruises. CCL Players Club sponsors 6-8 cruises Quarterly with reduced rates, freebies, and various amounts of Casino Cash.

  11. We have always purchased from a sales table they have set up outside the MDR on embarkation day, manned (I think) by one of the wine stewards.

If the head waiter gets a little bonus, then we will wait to sign up with our waiter! Thanks for the info.!

DW and I always purchase the wine package. Our last cruise on Fascination in June, we purchased on Lido the day we boarded. Turns out, the person staffing the table was our Head Waiter in the MDR. So, not sure if he received the gratuity, or CCL.

  12. I'm good to go no matter what's said by others

Enjoy your Suite and the cruise. Don't let the naysayers, and grammar police diminish your excitement. Whether it was free, or you paid, it is still an upgrade from the cabin you originally booked, as you will be in a higher category cabin. Upgrade, upsell, who cares, you're happy, so that is what is important.

BROWN THINGS IN THE WATER.... oh just sting rays...

Thanks for all the pictures of the sting ray adventure. DW and I did this 3 years ago, along with a swim with the dolphins. Best day for excursions ever in Grand Cayman.:D
