was thinking about doing this on the Fantasy in Dec. been to both enough times already and was going to enjoy a quiet day on the ship.
Try it, you might just find it is very enjoyable. If not, then you can go back to getting off next cruise, no matter the Port.
-
DW and I always stay on the ship in Nassau and/or Freeport. Like others have posted, the ship is not crowded, no lines for buffet, deli, mongolian wok, etc. Serenity area and Lido pool area not crowded. Best times of some of our cruises have been port days together on a non crowded ship.

Woah. You might want to contact them more than two weeks in advance. They'll have to move this to a much larger venue -- probably the main show lounge, like our 80-person cocktail party was -- and you want to make sure they don't give it to someone else. That first sea-day (when most of these gatherings are scheduled) books up fast!
I so agree with this. We had a party on Liberty several years ago, and had to move as we had more attending than we had originally planned.

NEED TO UNDERSTAND THAT CARNIVAL CRUISELINES DOES NOT HAVE A NORMAL BUDGET FOR "MEET & GREETS" LIKE OTHER LINES. WHEN SOMEONE ASK FOR A ROOM RESERVE 'REGARDLESS OF NUMBER OF GUEST' CARNIVAL WILL PROVIDE TWO(2) SHIP ON A STICK & TWO(2) BOTTLES OF CHAMPAGNE. NO CD OR OFFICER CAN VISIT NOR CAN THEY STOP IN (UNLESS YOU KNOW THAT CAPTAIN PERSONALLY) SO DON'T COME SCREAMING TO THE SENIOR CD OR BLAST CARNIVAL FACEBOOK PAGE FOR WHAT THEY DID NOT DO FOR AQ CC MEMBER. I HAVE GOTTEN SICK AND TIRED OF READING RANTS BY CC MEMBERS SAYING A CRUISELINE DOES NOT CARE. NOT EVERYTHING IN LIFE (or Cruising) IS FREE. IF YOU WANT TO ENTERTAIN YOU M&G GUEST TRY DOING IT ON YOUR DIME AS WELL. AND IMAGING IT BEING DONE 24 TIMES A WEEK FOR 52 WEEKS.
AND YES THE OPEN BAR WILL COST YOU. IT IS NOT FREE.
FYI IF I COULD TYPE IN BOLD LETTER I WOULD BE SCREAMING THIS AT ALL THOSE WHO WHAT A M&G TO COME WITH FREE DRINKS AND FOOD. GET IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME. NOTHING IS FREE ON A CRUISE BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO HAVE HAD PAID FOR IT IN ONE WAY OR ANOTHER.
What????

Had him as Assistant CD on either Glory or Liberty I think, can't remember. Does he still wear his Kilts?
-
What is your problem? I wrote to give my opinion. Last time I checked, this is still a free country. You don't like what I said? Don't read it.
I don't understand why some people feel a need to flame posters for giving an opinion.
Seems that happens more on the CCL Board than others. Some just can't stand for CCL to receive anything other than "glowing" comments. I didn't read where you said the hard muffin ruined your 7 day cruise, I read it to say you thought they were hard and didn't like them. To me that is an opinion, not necessarily a complaint.

how much do you have to paly to get comps on carnival and NCL
You can also earn the drinks on us card for 1,000 points earned on a 5 night cruise. It varies. You get faster comps on Carnival if you play slots and video poker. You can also earn free drinks for your cruise once you accumulate 1500 points. Make sure you put your sign-n-sail card in the machine while you play to earn the points. I don't know about NCL, I haven't sailed with them in 10 years. -
This is my third cruise coming up that has Half Moon Cat as a port. On my last 2 cruises on Holland America the ship bypassed the island. They claimed it was too rough to tender. I was very disappointed and now feel like I will never get there. Someone on the cruise said if they didn't make their mark financially they would pass up the island to make up some revenue with a sea day. So my question is how many cruises don't make it there?
DW and I have made it to HMC on 2 of 4 cruises scheduled for the stop.

You could always sail the eight day and after day six drop her off
sorry I couldn't help myself
Yeah, and I can plan on moving too. LOL
-
Good to see you enjoyed the cruise. DW and I are thinking of sailing Breeze for the 6 day sailing. Ports on the 8 day are more appealing, but DW doesn't want to sail that long.
-
As it was the previous cruise. I wonder if they plan to fix it.
Must have been the same glass elevator that also was not working on our 6/1 sailing.:( Come on CCL, how long does it take to fix an elevator?

I believe his name was Paul, and he was a Brit. I didn't attend a huge number of ships activities, so I didn't see him often. I thought he was personable and had a good personality. We had a more personal encounter with him on the last day, which I'll detail as I go on.
DW and I have had Paul 2 times on Fascination. The thing I like most about him, he is not constantly making announcements over the PA system. Most CD's become obnoxious with their constant announcements, especially since you can't hear half of what they are saying.
Good review.

DW and I always bring home and give to the grand kids. Never had a complaint from them.:D

buckeye, I remember when this thread started (DW and I were fairly early listers as Platinum) that someone was listing the # by State/Country of Platinum cruiser. Haven't looked lately, but is that list still being kept/watched?
-
Enjoying your review. The Fantasy was our first Carnival cruise!
I have a question - you mentioned as a repeat cruiser you got a free drink. Do you have to be platinum to get that?
Your room Steward will leave a letter from CCL with your name on it (1 per past guest) in your room. On the bottom is a tear off slip to take to either MDR or comedy Club for your free cocktail/drink. Must be used either at lunch or brunch. If you don't want to eat in MDR or at the Comedy brunch, go to the MDR and someone will get the drink for you, then you can take it somewhere else to drink. This is what DW and I do.

Plastic cup until June, then it's a Nike ball cap unless you don't want a Nike ball cap and you can take it to guest services and exchange it for a plastic cup.
You can exchange for Tumbler if they have any left. With our luck, they will be giving the hats when we sail in less than 3 weeks, and won't have any tumblers available. Here's hoping anyway.
-
Great review and pictures. Sailing Fascination in June for 4th time. Too bad you didn't go to HMC as it is a beautiful beach.
-
Victory last year everyone stood outside in the heat and listened to everything in English and Spanish. On the Imagination in Jan we meet in the main lounge, had the whole safety dance and then had to walk up to the life boats.
We did the same on Fascination last October.

Thanks so much for your review. As we will be sailing FOS in September, your review has just added to our excitement. One of the best we have ever read.:D

Did anyone happen to watch Brian Williams "Rock Central" Friday nite. Quite the story on Carnival and how they are a multi-billion $$ company and pay .06% taxes. The Miami Heat owner claims that is all he needs to pay. Port taxes are paid by the cruisers. Go into the Rock Central site, very eye opening !!!!!!!!
No different on taxes than RCI, or NCL. The story just happened to be about CCL. They could have used any cruise line or probably any major corporation for that matter.
-
I would definitely do it again! That's the farthest I have been from shore in waist deep water! :-)
Yeah, that was almost as awesome as the stingrays. Seemingly in the middle of the ocean, you have a sandbar.
-
DW and I did the sting ray city excursion 2 years ago when on CCL Dream. One of the best we have ever done. As we are on the same itinerary as you, we are thinking of doing this again.
Really loving the review.
-
that's too funny...my wife and I will be on FOS in June, for our 20th anniversary as well.
Happy Anniversary fletch and mrs. fletch.
Jeff
Congratulations on your anniversary cruise. DW and I will celebrate our 46th anniversary in June also. We went on our 1st cruise, Nordic Empress, for our 25th anniversary.:D

I am an early riser, at home and at sea. Really enjoy drinking coffee on deck, before others arise. After sunrise, I eat at WJ, then take DW breakfast in bed each morning. I might add, that the tips are pretty good for this service.:D
OPEN BAR Cruise Review!! Fascination ~ 9/26/13

Looking forward to the rest of your review, sounds like a great trip and time. DW and I also like the Fantasy class ships best. Fascination is our favorite (4 cruises.) Jacksonville is also the easiest embark port we have done.
