  1. Star Flyer may be different, but (from what I remember), there were drawers under the bed(s) on Royal Clipper so a suitcase wouldn't fit. However it was a long time ago, so my memory may be incorrect.
  2. We booked ours on 4th October 2018, but no upgrade for us!
  3. Lucky you! Have you tried contacting Saga via the online chat, if you're really worried? I've always found them very helpful, and reasonably quick. I prefer it to phone calls because the chat transcript can be downloaded afterwards.
  4. We were in Bordeaux on SoD in Oct 2019 for a full day and overnight. Don't miss the bridge that opens up! Have a great time.
  5. I agree about Cruise Critic and its demographic. When we've had Azamara cruises booked, the Roll Calls have usually been very active and full of info and ideas. In fact, we booked an evening tour of Dubai with an American couple we'd never met before we walked to our taxi for the evening! Having said that, the Marella group on here is very well used by us Brits. As in #2 above, I'd worked in IT for many years before retirement, so am reasonably techie-savvy. I think Saganauts use FB more; the Saga cruises FB pages contain loads of posts, blogs and photos.
  6. We also live in Lincolnshire. Our last cruise was in October. We had been allocated a pickup time that I thought was far too late; I think it was about 12.30-1pm. The driver phoned a few days beforehand. He also thought the time was too late and we agreed an earlier time, without telling Saga. We still arrived at Tilbury too late for lunch onboard.
  7. UPDATED: I've found other comments that suggest this isn't worth it to see Pulpit Rock. Has anyone done the boat trip (not RIB) up the Fjord to cruise under Pulpit Rock? Our cruise company describes it as follows: Pulpit Rock is one of south west Norway’s most popular tourist attractions. Towering 1,982 feet above the Lysefjord, this flat mountain plateau was called Hyvlatanna or ‘planed tooth’ in ancient times. It is an amazing, much-photographed landmark and its bare rock tabletop shape is in stark contrast to the green slopes and mountainsides that surround it. Having boarded the boat, exclusively chartered for our guests, you sail across to Lysefjord, a ribbon-like waterway that stretches 30 miles into the heart of the fjordlands, flanked on both sides by steep slopes, verdant mountainsides and the occasional small, picturesque farm. You pass directly below Pulpit Rock and pause for a while at the eerie Vagabond's Cave before stepping ashore at Helleren Beach to enjoy refreshments. You then sail back to the quayside in Stavanger. The walk from the ship to the boat will amount to approximately 200 yards, and there is a further walk of at least 100 yards, over uneven ground, to the refreshment venue. There might be a number of steps to the upper deck of the boat. The boat may not have sufficient outside seating, and the views from some inside seats could be restricted. Views of Pulpit Rock are dependent upon the weather conditions on the day.
  8. I've had a lot of help on this via social media, so thanks if you've just read this.
  9. If I book a Marella cruise via a high street travel agent that isn't TUI, will I be able to access our booking online?
  10. Can anyone tell me whether the power outlets are in the Star Flyer cabins, Cat 4, 3 or 2, please? My partner uses a CPAP machine at night and I'm wondering if we'd have to use a long extension cable. We have sailed on Royal Clipper in a Cat 4 cabin, but he wasn't using the machine at that time. Thanks.
  11. We were on SoD last October and I'm sure there was a wider choice at lunchtimes in The Grill, such as cottage pie, a daily roast, fish. Have there been cutbacks?
