thanks. Might work if I wasn’t on a transatlantic cruise. Enjoy your Med cruise!Thank you! We've arranged 5 days pre cruise in Italy, & still have 4 nights to fill, trying to decide if we want to go the France route in order to secure our passes... it would be nice to have for the future, although I strongly suspect the U.S. will come up with some sort of arrangement this spring or summer.
I hope your travel plans work out!
-
I do know that a possible work around is traveling to France first, & staying long enough to go through their system with an approved pharmacy:
https://parisbymouth.com/how-to-transform-your-american-vaccination-card-into-a-french-health-pass/
This pass would be acceptable under Norway's requirements
things to keep in mind: 1. there is no guarantee (which is why I personally switched my cruise to Med. instead)
2. If your last shot (including boosters) is more than 6 months at when your traveling some countries won't accept... we will both be getting 4th shots about 4 weeks before we leave, otherwise we'd have trouble in Italy & a few other places.
There's a good chance the U.S. will come up with an agreement with the E.U. by spring, but I'm not going to take the chance with final payment for our Norway cruise just weeks away. We'll be going to Croatia, Montenegro, Greece & Italy instead... very sad about Norway though.

Debbie, so sorry about the Pneumonia! Hope you feel better soon!
Not sure if ya'll remember this but back in 2020 (after this thread started) I was in the hospital with renal failure.....yes, it has been 2 years since that happened😲...anyway,......had a check up with the Nephrologist today and kidneys are looking pretty good🙂.......I do have some issues but overall everything is ok. My right kidney is smaller than my left......(have no idea why). I have to see her about twice a year......so will go back again later this year......(yes, I have been drinking a lot of water and I think that helps.....keeping hydrated). Just wanted to say thanks again to all of you for being here.
Thank you Lois! I remember that, can't believe it's been two years, & how great that you had a good check up.. 🙂. & now you can plan more wonderful travel & cruising! & Just being able to enjoy simple day to day life, walking, shopping, nice lunches. I'm very happy for you. 🙂
What a long way we've come from, health problems, weird stuff for dinner, & desperately missing our family & friends, I'm grateful for this thread as well!

Our numbers usually drop off dramatically in January, but not as much this year. I don't think we were as busy in December as we usually are. We just opened another surgery center this past year so we're a little short staffed--thus all the extra shifts. There are still a few on our busier days--I have one next week--that are still double pay. I want more *stuff* for my new camera, so I'll work some as they come along, but not as many as in Nov/Dec. And yes, I'm skating on Saturdays. I'll add another day once I build up some stamina. I don't have to do it in secret anymore as my older daughter has given me "permission" as long as I don't jump. Dangit, it's the best/most fun!
Feel better soon. Pneumonia is no fun.
glad to hear you're back to skating, & thank you, this is zero bits of fun 😞

Spent early years on east coast, did not wear heavy coat unless really cold. After 50 years in Southern ca., think anything below 55degrees is chilly. Of course age might be a factor.
Lived here all my life, & can't handle below 60 lol, I think it definitely gets worse with age... don't remember being this cold a few decades ago 😉

But if you can get him to pay for your cruise it's all good.🤣
I just saw the prices for suites on the new Asia routes, I really could use Billie to pay for mine lol 😉

Kat, ( & everyone else still working) I just read something funny:
"The CDC says you can drink wine at work now so you don't notice how short staffed & underpaid you are".

Hi Ladies!
Lois & Cynthia, glad to hear that you both dodged the worst of that big storm, hope everyone else in the path stay safe! Lois, not only is 40's "not taking a walk" weather for me, it might be "not getting out of bed" 😉
Cynthia, how on earth did you negotiate the world's longest time to move out/in ? 😉. Hopefully in the spring it'll be easier to find people to do the work you need done... I'd order those shutters now in case there's a 3 month wait...
@PurpleHays sounds like you're still working so hard, but not the crazy shifts you had a few weeks ago... did you manage to get any skating in?
Kat, that was kind of you to let AR girl go home & rest...& sounds like your wine stock is doing well... weather wise, that must be a fine line for you, enough snow to keep the guests coming, but not so much that you're freezing lol...
Dr. called a couple of hours ago with X-ray results... reason I can't breathe is I have an pneumonia... will start super antibiotics & steroids tomorrow morning... explains why all I want to do is sleep lol 🙂

You’re right, Debbie, symptoms could be a lot worse than just being a grumpy pants! 😂. Sounds like she is doing well!
So, today’s news is Peter passed his PCR test at the airport so he is on his way back, he was very relieved and, I think, happy to be out of the basement! I didn’t I would ever be happy about him flying to Australia but I seemed to be this time. And we are lucky to have dodged this, but I think, even with being careful, it is just a matter of time. I am thankful for the vaccines!Sherri🙂
Hi Sherri, that's awesome he get's to go back home 🙂. Yes, sorry to say it seems just a matter of time... but at least for our family, the shots have kept us from getting very sick... so that's good.
I have some lingering breathing issues, which seem to slightly improve each day... it will be a while before I'm hiking or running again, but I wonder what I'd have been like if I caught this early on with zero protection, so I'm grateful.
Happy flight to your son, I know it's a long one!

I’m still here! Just hard to come up with new material in my 225 square foot universe day after day. As you’ve probably seen on another thread, we were denied from tendering at Half Moon Cay today due to our COVID load. Rotterdam appeared to be successful though and we had some nice views of her this morning. We are now making our way slowly towards Florida. Interestingly, I just got a letter under my door. HAL is crediting my shipboard account $200 for not being able to attend any of my shore excursions I had booked with my “Have it All” fare. Of course not redeemable for cash so I’ll step off the ship tomorrow with a couple hundred dollars credit vanishing into thin air, but what can ya do. I can only stuff myself with so much steak and lobster.
Medical will drop off a letter tomorrow with 1). My positive test results 2) Verification of my 10 days in quarantine (should I decide to pursue a refund with the insurance company, but I’ll probably just opt for the automatic FCC) and 3) a letter of recovery, should there be an issue with testing for my Eurodam cruise in 3 weeks.
I also worked out details for disembarkation tomorrow. My flight is at 11:30 AM so they are planning to escort me off in full PPE and chemical spray at 7:30 AM. They also told me they will come to my cabin today and take a picture of my passport so that I don’t have to interact with customs officials tomorrow. I’ve never heard of that happening. Otherwise, I’m packing up, drinking wine, and feeling like a prisoner on his last day before parole!
congrats! Wonder if you can do duty free shopping with the OBC from your tv screen?
Anyhow, I have very much enjoyed your reports from isolation, thanks for taking us along your very unexpected journey!

Hi all, she's 3, will be 4 in a few months... GS who is 6 & fully V tested positive today, but he has zero symptoms, so yay vaccines 🙂. GD is doing fine but DD says she's a grumpy pants, I will take that anyday over what could have been worse. 🙂
Thank you so much for the good wishes & thoughts 🙂
Sherri, hoping your son gets his clearance to fly home, & lucky on you to have dodged this 🙂

Sorry to hear that, it seems like so many people I know have been testing positive recently that I am not sure anything would shock me. My son is still in his ex wife’s basement😂, home antigen tests are still positive and he has to pass a PCR test to fly back. If he can’t pass an antigen test it is very unlikely he would pass a PCR.
Hope she is all better soon!
Sherri🙂
Thanks Sherri 🙂. How are you doing? Do you think you're going to have it from your son? Best wishes for a negative test for your son so he can get home 🙂

I just did a mock booking for a suite, and selected a guarantee rate. (Nonrefundable deposit). On the checkout page it clearly showed that those benefits were included. Guarantee cabins (not suites) do NOT include those benefits.
I currently have a suite guarantee booked, no perks 😞. would love to know how you managed this 🙂
-
to clarify: a Suite guarantee does not include drink package, gratuities, or OBC.... if you choose your cabin, all those should be included.

sooo... my granddaughter has covid... I don't know why I'm shocked, but I'm completely shocked. So far she's ok, watching Disney movies in bed, but yikes!

Same on Koningsdam last month. Reeked! And the awful thing was I only play blackjack so I was only at the tables where...unless we were actually drinking...we were politely told to mask up. But the smokers at the slots....well, they just kept a cig lit and I NEVER saw any of them with a mask on. And yes, I also hope that they keep this rule in place.
Experienced the same on K-Dam over Thanksgiving week... casino filled with chain smokers, none of whom wore a mask... on the bright side, it saved us $$.
🙂 pity the new rules weren't enforced.

For wine etc I use the tooth brush (water) glasses from the bathroom, the only glasses in the cabin, I was also lucky enough to get plastic champagne glasses with the first bottle delivered to me…
I wash them using the regular soap, no chance of getting fresh glasses.
Oh, and cutlery… I’m satisfied with the situation now, but can’t say anything further 🤷♂️
It's a bit late, but I wonder if your wife would be allowed to send you a closed "care package". She could gather together a couple of utensil sets from buffet & some wine glasses from her room for you...

A few of my reasons for looking at this (asking the question) are:
a. Legal drinking age in our home province(state) is 19
b. Canada considers her an adult at 18 providing her with full voting rights.
c. We are already paying for it with the all included.
d. generally speaking the cruise ship is a safe place for someone to try some cocktails that they may not normally try due to cost (see point c)
e. She is paying the full fair as any other passenger I would be traveling with in my cabin so shouldn't she have the same rights
totally agree with you 🙂

Putting aside the drinking age, I always laugh in these threads about having parents sign a waiver to have legal adults drink.
Makes me laugh as well, one legal adult having to sign off for another legal adult, it's ridiculous.
for fun: Do/Would you still put on all your makeup and decent clothes if you are quarantined

Hi Lois, I love the Lou & Grey stuff 🙂. Haven't been shopping in soooo long though, I think I might give their website a peek today 🙂
I'm wearing some black joggers from Target & and a tank top... it's sunny & gorgeous today, finally!
Kat, yikes! thank goodness that you didn't break something, take care!
