  1. Lois, stay warm 😉.  I don't know how you're dealing with those temps right now...  that would  be stay in & hibrinate weather for me...  good on you for going out to lunch 🙂

Kat, I love that dress!  I might see if Nordstrom Rack has it available to order online...  perfect for hot summer days 🙂.    Hope you continue to feel better & the lung stays pain free!

  2. In Ketchikan I did the Deer Mountain trail on my own while DH fished,  because the trailhead itself is about 1.5 miles from the dock area, add that to you time....  trail itself is about 2.5 miles,  very easy going as long as you are used to hiking...  some streams, small runoffs to traverse.

In Juneau we did the hike up to the Mt. Roberts Tramway...   it's the Mount Roberts Trailhead that you would be looking for...  once at the top, bought a beer at the restaurant, some stuff in the giftshop, & our tickets down were deeply discounted...  I think $5 each.. could have been a few bucks more).

Both trails had wonderful views 🙂   We had plenty of snow on the ground when we reached the Mt. Roberts summit 🙂

  3. I don't understand why people don't read follow up remarks before answering.

To the OP:   the current requirements for Hawaii are that everyone tests before boarding, & again partway through the cruise....  Celebrity isn't going to Hawaii yet, so I don't know how they will handle this & things change rapidly right now.

Holland America is handling this for their guests & I would imagine Celebrity would do the same.

Honestly, if you are not going until April, I simply wouldn't worry about it until March as things could (& probably will change before then).

there are no rules preventing you from taking a proctored test onboard the ship.   If you test positive, please report to medical center 🙂

A version of Music Walk is on all of their ships, but the quality of the performers can vary from group to group.  Most irritating to me is when a group's playlist is short and is frequently repeated.

When I sailed on MSC Meraviglia, there were several different small groups that played in the various lounges and the styles covered all styles and types of music.  All were good, but the music offerings in the YC's Top Sail Lounge were the least enjoyable for me.

I didn't realize that all their ships had this, I thought only the newest class did...  anyhow, we enjoyed it so much on the K-Dam....  they also had a show in the theatre one evening where they showed one of David Attenborough's nature films with a live quartet...  it was amazing !

Find your notation of Disney as favorite cruiseline interesting .  If you are 50+ you would find the passengers on Celebrity .uch closer to your age.  Celebrity is relaxed and adult oriented.   Also the cruise out of Boston has both wonderful and easy ports, but will have few to no children aboard.

As to the length . . . a 7 day cruise is actually 5.  Day 1 you unpack and start to settle in.  Day 7 you disembark early am.  11 days allows you to relax and enjoy both ports and sea days

Not trying to be argumentative, but you actually disembark on day 8...  which is also day 1 for next group

To the OP:  the 11 day itinerary looks much more interesting to me...  but of course that's subjective

This cruise (Celebrity Reflection) is Eastern Caribbean, paid for entirely with FCC (future cruise credits) from my many cancelled cruises. Looking forward to being warm!

Awesome! & having it paid for, even better 🙂

Hopefully will be sunny & warm 🙂.   We're on Reflection in May... wonder if the ships will still be only partially filled by then?  It's kind of nice to have the extra space

  7. Melody,  sending good wishes for a good outcome for your thumb...sounds like you have a terrific Dr. 🙂

It will be nice to have this taken care of before your next cruise...  where is this one going?

Sherri & Cynthia, sending you warm thoughts...  I feel like I lost my personal body heating system, so I do not envy your cold weather!  In December I bought a heated throw, I like to sit on the floor to watch tv...  but the floor is so cold even with an area rug over the wood...  so I put the heated throw down, with a  square throw on top of that...  the cats love it lol...they go between my heated floor area & their basket in front of the fireplace, love having the gas logs as it's clean, & so easy to light every evening 🙂

Keksie,  it's interesting how different areas have different requirements... I feel like I went through the stages of grief with the masks lol, 😉.  & now they're just a way of life...  I've found some surgical ones that work for me, & hey, think of all the $$ I've saved on lip gloss lol 😉

Well, I have big goals today...  going to organize my flatwear drawer & maybe even polish the silver (we'll see how ambitious I stay)

  8. Kat, bummer on the folks not following precautions...& no fun being bored at work...  I do like when we're busy, not interested in twideling my thumbs lol 😉

Your boots sound cute!  I love winter clothing, but not being too cold lol

So I headed to do a few hours of work on my Starbucks patio, & they were closed!  Apparently too many employees sick, & not enough to run the location...so weird, sign says they will try to open again in a few days....  I could drive a few more blocks to another one (we have at least 6 of them in a 2 mile radius) but this is the one with the best patio.  🙂 went to the office instead for a few hours, which I hate, as it's so empty.

I had good news yesterday, they extended final payment on our May cruise to mid March (it was due in about a week).  Love being able to stretch out the payments a bit more

  9. if you want in person, try Covidtest.org  search by location, (put in zip code of your hotel).

But your best bet is to order the proctored tests from Optum or Emed & do on your phone or laptop... testing is a bit tough to come by right now, especially if you need the type that emails you results same day...  hopefully things will get better here in coming weeks...  in all honestly, take care for those 3 days pre-cruise, you don't want to end up positive before you board 🙂

Hi, we are cruising on Celebrity for the first time (Silhouette), and I'm not sure what to pack for the formal nights? Do people wear glitzy evening gowns and tuxes? Or more like date-night dresses and khakis/sport coats? Any insights would be appreciated. -Lisa

You'll see exactly what you're describing, & everything in between... for us, DH wears black slacks w/a black cashmere turtleneck,  I wear some sort of date type dress.

If your deposit was refundable and you cancelled before final payment, yes, you should be getting the entire amount refunded. Thanks to those sailing in May who said their FP was extended. I will have my TA check for May 16.  Mine due tomorrow for May 6 was NOT extended.

Strange as our cruise is May 3 & it was extended, nothing from Celebrity yet but checked My Cruises & it was changed.

I wonder if the region you are sailing in makes any difference?  Ours was Med/Adriatic 🙂

  12. I just logged into my booking for this May, & my final payment date has been extended by 30 days...  which I'm quite pleased about...  last week final payment was due early February, & has now been extended to mid-March.  🙂

Latest update. The government announced today that from 11th February there will be no need for a Day 2 test after arrival in England for those who are fully vaccinated. That means no testing requirements at all remain for these passengers.

The only remaining requirement will be to complete a passenger locator form, regardless of vaccination status.

UPDATE: The government webpage has been updated with these changes:

    https://www.gov.uk/guidance/travel-to-england-from-another-country-during-coronavirus-covid-19

Thank you!  I still have 4 days pre cruise left unfilled, & it's looking more & more like we might be able to spend them in London, quite excited!

  14. Hi Ladies 🙂.  Do I dare confess that I'm going to wear black linen shorts, black tank, & a long open knit cardigan today?   I'm going to attempt a walk around the park...  we'll see how it goes...  if that doesn't work we may drive a little to where the streets are more flat & get some walking in that way 🙂

stay warm for everyone else today!

All part of my evil plan. 😈  I've been through 5 "adult" moves (e.g., not to a dorm or apartment) and every time I felt so rushed/stressed doing it. And afterwards wished I'd taken more time to get things done in the new place before move in. Of course, finances didn't always allow that, but now they do, thank goodness.

Oh dear, pneumonia is no joke. Take good care of yourself.  We've all been so worried about COVID that it seems surprising when some other illness is the culprit.

Speaking of which, I'm going to get my Shingles vaccine just as soon as I get moved. That's one I definitely do NOT want to experience.

I love a person with an evil plan lol 😉   Sounds like a wonderful way to do a big move, taking the time to have everything in its place

& thanks for the good wishes, trying to take it easy at home, but I'm not very good at it,   so very bored🙂

Dr. thinks this is covid that morphed into pneumonia, which makes me think if I wasn't vaxed & boosted I might have been in big trouble... meds seem to be helping, which I am very grateful for!
