  1. Glad to see this. We're doing the Eclipse transatlantic, followed by the Fjords and as such will be taking hiking boots and poles to do some hiking at Geiranger and Flam. Thought we'd have to book another case for the transatlantic flight at a cost of $100. Now my husband doesn't need a tux or suit, we probably won't need the extra case. Does anyone know if the button down shirt quoted on X website needs to be long sleeved or will a short sleeve button down shirt do. My clothing won't change all that much. I've stopped wearing long dresses on cruises now and have noticed less and less tuxes on Celebrity over the last few years. My husband stood out as one of the few with a tux on our Summit cruise two years ago and on last years transatlantic there was quite a variety of clothing on formal nights all of which looked quite appropriate to me. As said on other posts, people who really want to dress up can and others without suit, tux or jacket won't feel out of place.

  2. That only solves half the problem since X only provides a single foot stool. Kind of like providing one chair for 2 people and it makes no sense. We were just on the Regal Princess last week and noticed they also only provide a single foot rest (for their mini-suites). Seems like a trend :(

When did X start only giving 1 footstool. We have been CC twice on Eclipse, August 2013 and April 2014. Both times we had 2 footstools and so did our neighbours.

  3. Hi guys, we still have our family Esta valid until next June. Are we ok with it as is or do we need to change anything such as our first day address in the U.S given its a hotel in Miami this time ?

We change the address on the esta and then we reprint it. We do this because when we fly with United from Ediburgh they always ask for where we are staying and then put it into their system. That way both the esta and United have the same address so as not to cause confusion at Newark. We won't have to change anything next April though as we have the same flight number and address in Miami before Eclipse transatlantic.

  4. Thanks for the help. I asked about security as we will be going into Southampton on the turn around day. As there will be no security scanners at the top of the ship's gangway as on port days, we will just have to go through the security scanners at the port when we come back. That's what we expected to happen. If we can reboard when we like that will be a bonus but by the time we get back, the ship will be boarding anyway. Also wondered if we could stay with our luggage while it is getting moved and if asking for wire hangers might be the best idea as from what I remember, the whole hanger can't be removed from the closet. As we're moving down two decks also I expect there might be some wait for the elevators as other guests will be leaving the ship. We'll keep an eye out for our first cabin to become available again but if not we're really excited about our first B2B and delaying that day before the end of the cruise feeling when you have to pack up.

  5. We are doing a B2B with Eclipse Transatlantic and the Norwegian Fjords. Can someone tell me how this works. At the moment we have cabins on two different decks so we are unsure how we will change cabin. Also if we leave the ship after the first cruise, I assume we will have to go through security again before we reboard. Will we have to wait then until boarding starts for the second cruise or can we reboard when we wish. I know this question probably has been asked many times but hopefully someone will respond.

  6. Hi, will be leaving for Bermuda May 31 on the Summit. Due to walking problems I will require a blue flag taxi to tour Bermuda. I have e-mailed a few, but have heard nothing so far. Does anyone have a contact number or e-mail I can try. We need a cab for the two of us and a walker and would like to tour the island. Thanks in advance.

We were in Bermuda last June on the Summit. We just went to where the taxis are, very close to the ship and asked for a blue flag taxi. Most of the taxi drivers are certified blue flag guides. We had a taxi for 2. Think it was about $40 an hour. You can get a tour as long as you want, very easy. Norwegian Breakaway was in at the same time but we had no bother getting a blue flag taxi.

  7. hi All we leave in 2 weeks aboard the Summit. Question: How does the safe lock? Do we enter our own combination? If so how many digits? Or use a credit card to open it? How much stuff can you fit in there? Would a DSL camera, point & shoot camera, cell phones, wallets , passports & money be too much?

We're just off Eclipse Transatlantic. Safe held Canon DSLR with fairly large lens in camera bag, iphone, iPad mini, 2 ipod touches A4 ring binder, passports and money. Very easy to program. Safe will be open when you enter cabin. Shut the door, enter 4 digit code, press lock . Closed message will appear on screen. To open enter 4 digit.

  8. We were on the Summit cruise to Bermuda last June. Most men had suits or jackets and long trousers. Dinner suits were very much in the minority. Didn't see many long dresses either. Not sure if this is the norm for the Summit or just on our cruise. We enjoyed the ship and would sail on her again.

  9. Can anyone who has travelled recently in this cabin on Infinity or one of the other aft C1's tell me what furniture is currently on the balcony. We are looking at an Alaskan cruise and would really like footstools to go with the reclining chairs. Loungers are lovely but we would prefer a chair and footstool so we're sitting higher up and can see over the balcony.

  10. Normally you would collect your luggage from the carousel and once you leave the arrivals area a Celebrity rep would be waiting to direct you and your luggage to the transportation to the port. This is what has happened anytime we have taken a transfer to the ship from the airport. The rep normally has a list of the people booked for the transfer.

  11. Please don't worry about your shoes. We have been on the Summit to Bermuda recently and saw a great variety of footwear during formal night from high heeled shoes to sandals. Many people were not very dressy at all . Cruising is about enjoying yourself and being comfortable not worrying about what other people think of you. On the first night of our cruise the comedian spoke about the number of ladies who wore their 'new cruise shoes' for formal night and ended up hobbling at the end of the night. He was so funny because what he was speaking about was so true. I ended up walking down the corridor to my cabin carrying my new shoes because my feet were so sore. I didn't make that mistake again and wore a less dressy pair of shoes that were comfortable after putting plasters on my sore heels . Enjoy your cruise and wear what you're comfortable with especially on your feet. Bermuda was lovely and we really enjoyed the Summit.

  12. My husband and myself have just returned from the Summit to Bermuda. We had cabin 6136. It was fully covered by a canvas cover. Can anyone tell me if Millenium and Infinity have the same canvas cover. Also as this was a concierge cabin, we expected footstools and reclining chairs as on Eclipse. Not so. One chair had a partial recline and the other did not recline at all and no foot stools. However, we did have an excellent cabin steward who brought us two loungers so everything turned out ok although I'm not sure this would be guaranteed on the other two ships. Any information on current balcony furniture on Millenium and Infinity in this cabin would also be welcome as we are looking at Alaska for next year and feel their itineraries are a bit better than Solstice which seems to take the sea route as opposed to the Inside Passage. I should also say we thoroughly enjoyed the Summit and the cruise to Bermuda.

  13. My husband and myself have just returned from Summit cruise to Bermuda. We took a Celebrity transfer. It was $28 each. We purchased the transfer while on board. The bus was over to the right as you leave the terminal building . The dispatcher checks your name off the list. The driver puts your luggage in the section for the terminal you are using and drops you off at the terminal you want. . It was very simple. We left the ship around 8.30 but the bus didn't leave till after 9am. We had a great cruise. Bermuda is lovely and very user friendly.

  14. We recently took a car transfer from the Newark Airport Marriott to the port for our June 7 cruise to Bemuda. The hotel organised the car. It was a set price of $62.50 and that included the tip. Lovely clean suburban. No hassle travel. We left the hotel at 10.30, arrived at the port, checked in and were on the ship in next to no time.

  15. As Eclipse is docked overnight in Reykjavic it is safe to take an independent tour. Last year my husband and myself did the Golden Circle Tour with Igtours. Tour guide was waiting on the dock, small minibus instead of large tour bus and a very interesting tour. Only possible downside for some was that the tour does not return to the ship till around 8pm. May mess with some dinner plans. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour.

  16. Thanks for all the advice. We are probably going to check into the Newark airport Marriott and get them to either get us a cab or private car to the port. After the cruise we will use the Celebrity transfer back to EWR, check our bags into storage there and then possibly use the NJ transit to take us to Hoboken to pass a couple of hours. Please come back to me and let me know if you think this is a good idea. I don't know if I'm up to going into NYC for such a short time.

    Thanks again

  17. My husband and myself will be cruising on Celebrity Summit on June 8th. We will have been in the US for 2 weeks beforehand touring the Blue Ridge Parkway and Smoky Mountains. We aim to fly into Newark on the 7th and stay overnight in a hotel as flights on the 8th are too expensive. We have never been to New York before although we have travelled a lot in the west. My question is. What would be the easiest for us?

Transfer back to the airport from our hotel and take a Celebrity transfer and where would we get this transfer knowing that the hotel shuttle or taxi would probably take us to departures and the Celebrity transfer would leave from arrivals.

How easy would it be to get a taxi/ shuttle from a hotel and which hotels do shuttle transfers? Which hotels do you recommend or have you used?

Is it easy to get a taxi at the end of the cruise or again should we use the Celebrity transfer? We don't mind waiting for a taxi as we have loads of time and because of this we hope to leave the ship as late as possible.

Does anyone have any recommendations for hotel day room use as our transatlantic flight to Scotland doesn't leave till 10pm.

    Thank you.
