  1. What about great quality teas to bring back? Has anyone done this? I don't mean Lipton....that's what I drink, but real British quality teas. We have a friend who loves tea and I'd like to bring some home. Is this okay going through customs?

  2. Hi Tracy,

We have this reserved for January, 2017. Are you sailing before that? I can let you know after we get home. I have had a really difficult time finding much information, or reviews about this excursion.

  3. We sailed in an OS on Empress in July. Yes, there are a few additional top tier parties that will include suite guests (even if you are not a top tier). Also, three drinks per day loaded onto your Seapass Card that are available just a few hours each evening and very limited drink choices. There is a special menu for you to choose from. The suite guest breakfast in Chops was wonderful though!!! So peaceful! You will be able to reserve a cabana on CocoCay if that is one of your stops.

We did get priority check in and a special lounge to wait in until boarding, but not escorted disembarkation. No reserved seating in theater or on pool deck either. We loved Empress and has the far forward OS. It was a nice experience, but definitely fewer perks than when sailing in suites in other ships. Empress is small, and is marketed as a boutique ship, so it is definitely a unique experience.

There is not a concierge, but there is a loyalty ambassador. When we sailed, it was Bruno.

  4. Since you all fit in an SUV you should be able to fit in one of the Van/SUV taxis. They are the same price ($15 - $20) as a sedan taxi. Even if you had to split up into 2 taxis it will be much cheaper than the price quoted by the company.

It's an XL SUV - a Suburban. I'd like to stay together just because Port Everglades is so big and crazy with several ships in port and people disembarking and boarding....

We will just walk to the taxi stand then.

    Thanks for the advice!!!

  5. Hi Royalcruz, or anyone else who has a great idea...

WE will be sailing on Freedom in January - driving down from Orlando and dropping a SUV off at the FLL airport. I am trying to decide the best way to get from the airport to Port Everglades for a party of 6 with a lot of luggage!

I have a quote from one company for $95. Does that sound good?

    Would two taxis be better?

or, is there a way to drop most of us off at the port w/ all luggage, then two pp.. return rental car and taxi bacK?

    Thank you for any suggestions....

  6. Quick bump to try asking here again before I start a new thread:

Is there a 'suite' waiting area at Port Everglades for Princess?

According to the updated info, passengers on my deck (Riviera) are asked not to board until 5pm. This will leave me with literally nothing to do for five hours except sit near baggage (outside security) at the airport where I'll be meeting my companion after I debark a different cruise. We don't have a problem waiting around for hours, but I want to be able to sit down while I do it. If there's a suite lounge at the port, fine, but if not I'm going to get an Uber to a Panera or something. (I grew up in SoFla, my interest in sightseeing Ft Laud is nil, and five hours is too short to bother with renting a car.)

    Thanks in advance.

Sailaway is also still listed as 5pm. You cannot arrive at 5pm and sail at 5pm. I assume that would be delayed since all passengers must be onboard at least 1.5 hours (or more) before the ship departs. Wonder about muster drill time, too?

  7. I tried to cancel and re-book on Allure in June at the Next Cruises desk, and was told NO, they do not rebook or transfer any cruises any longer. Not sure if it was just that employee or something new.... So I just made a new booking and will move the other to something else.

  8. They haven't really been able to replace Harwich.

The TA from Copenhagen to Boston is the most expensive. They might try and add another from Amsterdam

They also might add a few British Isles trips like Princess has done for the last 5 or 6 years

I REALLY REALLY want to sail the British Isles itinerary - just England, Scotland and Ireland for 10-14 days. You are right - Princess offers this itinerary . To this point, I have been loyal only to Royal, but I will have to choose Princess for that sailing, unless RCCL brings a few British Isles trips back. I really hope they do!!

  9. Mitch2016,

Following! I am having the same problem. I simply cannot fit everything into our Juneau day. We are in port 12-9 and I am torn between Harv and Marv and Gastineau Guiding for a small # of passengers whale watch. Both are rated well. BUT, like you, I feel compelled to do SOMETHING by air - but I just don't seem to be able to fit it all in - the excursion times don't allow for both. I would be interested to see how you can solve this or maybe other cruisers have great suggestions I am missing.

Yes, I know, I will have to come back. I keep reading that, too.

Have a wonderful cruise - looking forward to hearing about your experiences.

  10. i LOVE that you choose literature to go along with your cruise journeys! I thought I was the only one who did that. I have several Alaska mysteries and am contemplating Michener's Alaska. But it's really long! I have a year before we sail, so I just may be able to accomplish it. I am adding your selections to my list.

Following along and already looking forward to reading more of your adventures!

  11. Just wanted to give you all an update on how our snorkeling went. :) Four of us went and we all loved it! One of us got a little chilly but for the most part it was not that cold at all. I would do it again for sure! ;)

Since this is an excursion booked through the ship, did the snorkel company require you to wear snorkel vests like they do in the caribbean? I know ship excursions require that for safety.

We are considering this for September, 2017. Thank you for the information!
