Bottom Dalla` is on the same road as the port, on the same side of the bridge. All stores sell it for $3 bz. $1.50 us. Plus .25 per bottle and $5. for the plastic crate that holds 24 bottles. I would use the crate for transport. then you have a cheap souvenir.

I just did a search on Vacations to go. all looked normal.

Depending on if you are going to Caye Caulker or San Pedro. In Caye Caulker the island is so small I would take a short walk to town. San pedro is much larger and you can rent a golf cart close to the water taxi or air strip depending on how you arrive to the island The carts will be close to $50 US
for the day

The newly upgraded Belize City Municipal airstrip is a 10 minute drive from the cruise terminal. Taxis will be waiting on both ends. The cost of the taxi should be no more than 10-15 us. You should make reservations in advance. You need to check in for flights 15-20 minutes before the flights.
San Pedro is much larger. For a first time I would visit Cay Caulker.

Yes just fly over.
We tendered in, grabbed a cab and headed to the municipal airport right up the road. NOT the international airport.
No problems. Quick flight over, rented a golf cart and had a ball.
Google taco girl and you might find a 10% off flight coupon.
Michael.......
You did it the best way..

I have used Amoxicillin a few times. They come in blister paks. You can buy as much as you like. I think the cost is around $1 bze a capsule.
Don't know about the other.

Whoever you book with keep in mind that The month of August is the peak period for turtle nesting season in Belize. The full season runs from May to November. It is a treat to see a turtle but never guaranteed.
"Although sightings are never guaranteed, the chance of spotting them at these two locations is excellent!"

Harvest Caye is off shore of Placincia.

You can always use the airlines as a back up.... They might be able to help you for any problems. The water taxis are very reliable unless there is a storm, then the ship wont stop here anyway. Also during September we have a few holidays so there is a lot of local traffic as well.
Both airlines have there schedules online and tripadvisor has started taking reviews for airlines as well.

All taxis have green license plates in Belize. They have Taxi Unions, only members are allowed to wait or pick up at certain locations. Out in the streets it is all fair game.
As you exit the cruise port there will be lots of taxis. Be sure to tell him what you want to do and firm up the price in U.S or BZ.

Wadethegringo, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think there's only 1 company renting carts now. Used to be two. One was a real scammer and I think(hope) that's the one that went out of business.
Not sure. Never rented a cart on Caye Caulker. To easy to just walk around,

Last time in San Pedro, no licence needed and no credit card either:)
They may have missed asking for drivers license, However one is needed to legally drive a golf cart in Belize.

Info is slow coming.... All Airstrips as well as the international airport back to normal.... Been working thru the storm.

Hello everyone. I live on in San Pedro Belize, work for a local airline. The storm has now passed and the clean up begins.
The island was with out power and water, tv and internet for 24 hrs. All is back on.
San pedro and Caye caulker lost most of their docks and Bars on the docks.
I have not heard of any losss of life on the islands.
Air travel and boat travel was stopped until Thursday late afternoon. No way in or off the island. Now back to normal.
Waiting for more reports from the main land.

Had a great day in Caye Caulker Thursday. Not from a cruise ship. We flew from San Pedro. Grabbed a Golf cart taxi to town.
Haven't been there in almost a year. A lot has changed in town. New food stands, restaurants, upgraded beach area. The Split has been re done. Very nice.... New palapas in the water, more sand.
Lunch at Sip n Dip Beach. I had lobster tail with rice and beans. GF had chicken fajitas and we had 4 rum drinks. total bill was $54 BZ
Gelato Italiano is another new place we tried...very nice seating viewing the sea.
no camera but im sure you can google some recent pictures.

OK thanks about smoking same as most ships then is it sheltered I wonder? Going on monarchTuesday for a visit and lunch
Yes there are sheltered areas. There is one bar I like at night.. Has coffee and espresso...Has doors to the area by the life boats on both sides of the ship. Covered and tables and chairs outside. Nice area.

Thanks, for the help on smoking policy. I will keep an eye out for folks going on the May through September monarch cruises to see what they have to say.
I know that the concept of cheap airfare is different for everyone but for me the splurge to business class (with a lie flat seat) is one I value since it lets me be up and running when I arrive across the pond. I don't remember the cruise critic policy about posting things like this but I got a Lufthansa business class one way from Tampa to Frankfurt and then on to Bilbao for $2500. I used an online flight aggregator called alpha guru.
The one way coach flight from Panama City to Tampa on Copa was $283.
Also, I second the request for more info about the all-inclusive drink service. Is it only at meals? Only at meals in the main dining room?
Does anybody know if other packages are offered (for a fee, of course) that allow one to get soft drinks and or drinks at other times?
Thanks,
I have been on the Horizon and Monarch. Both allowed smoking only on one side of the ship in outdoor areas.

I sailed last year... I will look to se if I have any....will get back as soon as I can...
Have sailed two times on Pullmantur. Hope to sail in Dec 16 again.

I have been waiting on something to do in Belize rather than cave tubing or staying in the port area, how do you find out more about the excursion you are talking about? Do you pre pay and reserve or is it one of the book as you arrive?
jeff
they have a web site....Looks like fun. I may have to give it a try one day..

I saw that for the first time last week when I was shopping in the City...Looked like a blast. Glad you had fun...

might affect tours to xunantunich which is close to the guatemalan border.
Unless morales actually invades belize with full force, i doubt it would affect belize city. Couple of brit harrier jets swooping down over guate would have morales claiming it's all part of his comedy act. :p:rolleyes:

Are there cruises that leave from Cartagena?

Posted
Yes there are. Pullmanture departs from several locations for the same cruise. We are booked to depart from Colon Panama.
