  1. We have used a mixture of direct booking or travel agents. We rarely book flights through cruise lines unless we want to fly the same day as we sail as cruise line flights are massively overpriced.

We have recently booked a cruise ( but not P and O) through a North American Travel Agent because the price was £1500 less than the same cruise with a U.K. TA. We also got on board credit and will get any price drops.

  2. I recently accidentally priced up a cruise on the American version of the Royal Caribbean website and was very impressed by the price. I got a quote from my UK TA who was unable to match the price as the difference in price was £1200 for exactly the same cabin. Clearly this may change if exchange rates change but how is it that travellers from the U.K. are being asked to pay so much more?

  3. We enjoy trivia at home and on cruises but on our last back to back cruise on Constellation the trivia quizzes were very poorly managed by the entertainments staff. They accepted answers that were wrong, let people mark their own papers, used the same quiz on both cruises and generally didn’t understand some of the questions they were asking.

  4. I know the NHS has a discount card too - are there any other groups that are eligible? Public servants per chance [emoji5]

Holders of a Blue Light Card can get a discount on P&O cruises as well as at multiple businesses, shops and restaurants. The cards cost £5 for 5 years and are available to current and retired members of any U.K. emergency services.

  5. We’ve used ferries a number of times to visit Capri and Sorrento and have always bought tickets on the day. It is useful to know sailing times before you dock and give yourself enough time to purchase tickets. We’ve mainly done this in U.K. school holidays and therefore at the height of the season and have never had to queue for long or have had any difficulty in getting onto the vessel we wanted.

  6. The US travel agent I used was happy to take the booking. I actually approached 2 US TAs recommended to me by a U.K. citizen. They both came up with prices that were £1500 less than U.K. quotes (on yesterday’s exchange rates). I reasearched both companies before approaching them.

It is not really possible to use any US address as when it comes to paying you need to use the billing address of the credit card.

  7. I have just priced a February 2020 cruise. The price on the USA website is £1700 less than the best price I can find in the U.K. for exactly the same cabin. It seems as if there are a number of offers currently available in the USA but not in the U.K.

i’m used to some differences but this is massive. I wonder if anyone had Any thoughts on how to get around this please as I am unable to progress a booking on the USA website?

  8. Ships usually dock in Livorno. Florence is approximately 95 kilometres away. The distance from Florence to Pisa is 83 kilometres and therefore not walkable. There is lots of information on these boards on how to visit both places on your own. Last time we visited we used the ships “Florence on your own” excursion as we didn’t fancy the bus/train option.

  9. White night is a deck party with an amazing buffet meal served on the deck. Usually includes grilled lobster tails :). They have music and dancing and it's a blast!! Everyone is requested (not mandatory) to wear white.

Azamazing Evening is a complimentary private shore excursion for the entire ship; it varies depending on where you are. We've been to concerts and also a wonderful "street fair" in Sorrento, where an entire park was reserved just for us; there was food, lots of drinks and entertainment. Really fun.

    Thank you Laurie

  10. We sailed on the Constellation from Abu Dhabi to Singapore in February 2017 calling at 4 ports in India. We really enjoyed the cruise and used private companies for all our excursions. I put together a small group and we used Mumbai Magic in Mumbai. In the other 3 ports we used Lijo from Muzaris Tours https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Attraction_Review-g297633-d2078429-Reviews-Muziris_Heritage_Day_Tours-Kochi_Cochin_Kerala.html

    Both companies were excellent.

There were a couple of issues with India. The visas are very expensive- over £100 each for U.K. visitors. Also immigration was different in each port and sometimes very slow. At the last port ( docked) it took us 2 hours before we were able to leave the ship. Thankfully Lijo was still waiting for us and the tour took place with a few adjustments.
