IMO, those that get their tier level from a parent, spouse or living together and are no longer with that higher tier level person then their CAS tier level should be adjusted to their actual CAS cruise points.

DD was told, if she and her boyfriend break up, she can have his matching status revoked...

  2. When we haven't done aquaventure, we've just hopped into a taxi to Cabbage Beach, followed by lunch at Marina Village (Atlantis).

We are on well water and it tastes worse than city water, ship water, and any other water I have had in IL. I moved to IL 20 years ago and have always purchased bottled water.
I have chronic kidney stones and drink about 3 lt of water a day...
I special order 4 cases of 1.5 liters at a time from my local market. They just raised the price after 10 years. I was paying $5.49 for a case of 12 and now paying $5.99

PS I am not a huge fan of the taste of Evian water either, but it is better than nothing...

So in answer to your question, the convenience stores near me sell one liter for just over a dollar. I have not priced Evian, because as I said, I am not a fan...

I get it. I've always been able to drink the water, regardless of color/flavor. Miami beach (back in the 90s) was, at times, light brown.  Now, I'm a bit more selective.

It all comes down to what the market will bear. Our convenience stores (right outside DC) aren't cheap. Even the non-Evian bottles run $1.50 - 2.00.  Of course, when I find a sale, I grab a bunch.

For our Oasis Cruise in Feb 2024, the prices are CRAZY!!
    Water 1 liter (12) $30.99 (24) $54.99

When was the last time you looked at water bottle prices at a convenience store? $2.60 per bottle isn't all that high, especially if it is Evian. I just checked my Target app, and a liter bottle of Evian is $2.49. I'm more than happy to pay $0.11 extra per bottle if it means I don't have to worry about packing it!

It’s been reported that the CS hack is no more (and when it was you booked for the day you were there, not the night before). We’ve done Atlantis twice, and left kids under 8 on the ship with grandparents, it’s really cool but not much for little ones for the price tag.

Comfort Suites still shows this "As a guest at Comfort Suites Paradise Island, not only will you enjoy a Free Full American Buffet Breakfast every day, but you will have full access to Atlantis AQUAVENTURE and its exclusive facilities, including swimming pools, private beach, magnificent waterscapes, river rides, water slides, health spa, tennis courts, golf, Kids Camp, movie theatre, casino, and more! As an added bonus, you'll also have signing privileges at Atlantis, Paradise Island's many restaurants and lounges, making it a breeze to enjoy great food and tropical drinks at any time during your stay. "

I agree with those who have said to forget the ships excursion.  If a day pass is offered either directly through Atlantis, or through one of the local excursion companies, take it. Usually a significant savings (but not always), and so easy to get there. Easy to get your wristband when you get over to Atlantis. For our upcoming cruise, booking a day pass directly through Atlantis was MORE expensive than booking through RCL. The local companies didn't have any day passes, they said there are times when they aren't allowed to sell them, and spring break is one of those times.

Honestly, if women can wear dresses and bare part of their legs, someone needs to explain to me why the same for men is so very bad.  Same goes for shoes- there's almost no difference in how much of my foot can be seen vs many shoes women wear that are considered dressy.

Feel free to wear a dress.

Sounds like you're going on a cruise with your DD and her boyfriend, correct?  If so, maybe her boyfriend should consider who he's with and do a little more to impress both his girlfriend and her parents.  Of course I'm old fashioned, but I know if I had a daughter and her boyfriend wore shorts on a cruise where we were all dressing up, regardless of the dress code,  I'd be less than impressed.  Just sayin'.

That's how I feel. I think they've decided he's bringing a nice outfit for dinner (for the night she really dresses up), so that's good.

We have become "old fashioned", and that's okay! I love watching DD dress up, and that she enjoys doing so. She was shocked at the amount of attention she got the first time she wore a ballgown to dinner.

Ha, would love to know the instagram name

It's martinriese.  I don'y agree with everything he says about water, but it's interesting to learn about different waters. One summer, at my fun job, we set out a dozen different waters to blind taste test them. There was definitely a difference!

  9. Please don’t hate on me for asking. DD asked me to ask you guys.

We’ve always been the type to dress up, going so far as DD wearing ball gowns for formal nights. Shorts have always been a no go for us.

her boyfriend says resort casual includes khaki shorts with a polo or button down.

i know it won’t get him kicked out, but are shorts now acceptable?

When I preorder online under "plan my cruise"....it gives me the option of 12 or 24.  I am assuming the 12 is the larger bottles, the 24 is the smaller ones.  Though that may have changed.  I have always received the smaller bottles.

Yeah, I figured that was what you were saying, so I double checked. It reads: Hydrate healthily with 12 or 24 one-liter bottles of water delivered right to your stateroom.

But the bottles in the 24 pack are about $0.30 cheaper per bottle...

So you are D+? Diamond only get 4 drinks a day.

If your daughter called in and linked to her bf, then they always show the higher of the 2 of them status when he logs in but his pts are unchanged. He should be able to get I to the diamond lounge if they are linked together status.

Yes, D+, and after many phone calls to RCL, his boarding pass finally shows D+. We just have our fingers crossed that he likes cruising.

Agree to disagree, I know I can tell the difference between most brands and most taps.  Now super cold or filtered, not as much, but water is not all the same.  I'm in no way saying bottled trumps all tap, as some bottles taste awful.  Truly it's more when I do notice how it tastes, I prefer it to just taste like good clean water.  Do kids today ever get to experience that fun campground iron tasting water?  And half of all water from sprayers or fountains picks up a bit of what else may be flowing, sometimes as a benefit, more often not.  I just know I drink a lot of it, from a lot of various sources, and notice.  Agreed on coffee, we've been thrilled by a description, and then can't stomach the pot. We like it strong and black and not fussy, so often there is a special tasting note that throws off a good thing!

Okay, NGL, I can't count the number of times I drank from the garden hose... would I have allowed DD to do so? Not a chance.

I am a water snob. Will I drink what I consider inferior water? If I must. One of my favorite Instagram accounts is that of a water sommelier...

Again, the inventory you see online does not reflect the true inventory - it just appears sold out to you online (unless you somehow have access to the complete internal inventory).

Why are you assuming it has anything to do with online? I had a friend that wanted to sail with us... she called. NOTHING was available.

  14. 49 minutes ago, Biker19 said:

The inventory you see online is not complete and cabins become available all the time for various reasons.

Hence my question on why something would have come available. It has nothing to do with online inventory, as the ship was SOLD OUT. So, if someone who was in an OV cancelled, why was her bid selected? There's no way it was the highest bid, and it was way under what the cabin would have cost if she had booked it originally, instead of the inside.

  15. I didn't even realize pre-ordering water was an option. With the current pricing, it's going to cost me about $2.60 per bottle, but the listing does say 1liter bottles (not brand specific though). Easier than carrying on the allowed quantity. Does canned water come in 1 liter size?

  16. Having never used Royal Up before, I am puzzled. How on earth did DD's bid get accepted a week out from sailing, on a sold out ship? She noticed of her 3 bids, two had expired, and one said pending. Then later that day, she went from an Interior to an OV. Since the sailing was sold out, we just assumed her cabin was staying where it was. She got moved down to deck 2, which we've never been on, but since her BF has never sailed before, might be a good thing, just in case he doesn't handle the motion well?

Thank you for all the replies.  Have called Crown and Anchor, and they are saying "significant other" needs to have at least 1 cruise point.  As they have never cruised before, this will not be possible.

I'm not even sure if it's possible to sign up for C&A until after your first cruise.

Any suggestions on a work around, or is that it?  Obviously still have the option of asking the C&A concierge whilst onboard, but would prefer for it to be settled prior to boarding.

    Thanks again!

Just call back and talk to someone else. This is SO not true. They can give a C&A number before sailing, as long as there's a booking.

I just double checked - her boyfriend's Set Sail Pass definitely lists him as D+ and he has never sailed before. It was confusing because the first time she called, they set him up with a C&A number, and it wasn't until a couple calls later that they finally set him up with matching status.

  18. Just be warned, especially if you wait to do it on the ship, they made it as difficult as possible for my daughter.

She and her boyfriend moved in together last summer. She called and asked to status match.... no problem. She noticed his set sail pass didn't say D+, so she called again. They decided they needed proof, but didn't tell her. Since he hasn't changed his driver's license (from a different state), she offered up a copy of their lease. They said that wouldn't prove that they live together.... that was a battle she was willing to fight. Much time spent on the phone, and they finally accepted the lease as proof. But also told her to let them know if the time comes and she wants his status removed...
