Other than bragging rights when you get home, why on earth would you want to swim with pigs??

Stay tuned for my new, less-expensive attraction...swimming with guinea pigs! It’ll be the “in” thing for a few years, then folks will move on to some other contrived activity. 🐷

Wow, someone isn't a happy person.  Because we knew Exuma wasn't an easy option while cruising (too much risk of missing the ship), we decided to do the Royal Caribbean CocoCay version.  We knew going in it was a rip off, but had a blast anyway.  We enjoyed it, and now Exuma is definitely on our bucket list.  Thanks for the links.

Has anyone asked when at the port why they discontinued it?  Seems like it would help alleviate some of the congestion.

Also I don't recall if it was Diamond and above or was it D+, Pinnacle and suites?

I'll try asking Monday.  Of course you do realize, if I ask 10 people, I'm going to get 10 different answers.

I wonder if it's like this in Baltimore?

I will happily add to that:  Two free photos, bag of free laundry, two free 24 hour internet sessions per person and more perks that I can't remember right now.  Works for me!  $$$  🙂

So, between my 2 free 24 hour internet sessions, and DD's 1 free 24 hour internet session, we're pretty much covered for this short sailling?  Works for me.  The other perks, bleh.  When you over pack like I do, who needs laundry?

I honestly don't sail for the perks.  I sail because I love to.  Just frustrating that they seem to dangle some perks out in front of me like a carrot... never really attainable.

The smiley was to show that IT WAS A JOKE.

And it does help to actually ask the question you want answered. 😄

Yes, you are correct.  But, in my defense... I see no smiley on the original post... just a little square.  The smiley showed up on this post though... 😐

The hard part is, the mis-information given out by staff on the ships.   The only reason I understood this could be a problem was on my most recent sailing on Grandeur (I was a lowly D), I was told by the DL concierge that D+ would no longer have access to the CL... he did not say they were going to (at some point) change the CL to a SL... just that D+ would no longer have access to the CL.

Thanks to the helpful people here, I learned what he didn't understand about the changes to come, or didn't know how to explain.

At Port Canaveral there's two security lines. One for suites & pinnacles (usually short) and one for everyone else (can extend out into the parking garage). Diamonds & Diamond + used to be able to go into the suites/pinnacle security line, but it seems they stopped this. After security you go up the escalator and the separate checkin lines by status still remain.

What time would you suggest I arrive, if I want to be towards the front of that long, snaky line?

No...you will not be turned away.  Arrive whenever you want.  Those times are simply "suggested"....kind of like "suggested attire" in the dining room...obviously anything goes there.  :classic_sleep:

When I travel with my sister, and the rare times we even have a long line at PC, or have to sit and wait to board....I simply go through with her in the Diamond line or section...though we are D+ also.  Boarding at the new terminal, even for large Oasis is a dream.  Very fast, very efficient. We get there around 11 am, and never stop.  What little line there is moves quickly, and by the time we are checking in, all C&A levels have been called.  We walk right onto the ship.

How is the parking garage for the new terminal?  We get in the day before, and can't wait to explore Cocoa Beach again.  In the past we used to arrive around 10:30 and had a small wait.

I am D+ and DD is D, but this is the first cruise for her roommate.  Since they are in the same cabin, if there is priority boarding for D, the roommate can board with her, right?

  7. Please help me understand what to expect when we board Enchantment on Monday?  Haven't sailed out of PC in a while, and definitely not since becoming D+.  No more priority boarding?  I've always been one to get to the port early, is that going to be a problem?  It's weird because my daughter and her roommate are in a different cabin, and their set sail pass looks completely different from mine.  Their set sail passes say "Arrival Appointment 11:30 am - 12:00 pm", and mine says "...1:00pm - 1:30pm".

So, if we arrive earlier than their appointment time, are we going to be turned away?  Will I be turned away if I try to board when they do?

  8. Is there any difference between traveling under a Canadian passport, vs a US one? DD and her roomie are dual citizens and are going on a cruise with me in November. DD always brings both passports, roomie is just planning on bringing her Canadian passport. They are flying out of Detroit (so will have already crossed the border into the US), and sailing out of Port Canaveral, if it makes any difference.

  9. Anyone have the email address for the Diamond Lounge Concierge? I have a cruise coming up and booked a cabana on Cococay that I have questions about - don't trust the answers I'm getting from customer service.

The DL Concierge on Grandeur told me that the cabanas are now open for anyone to book, not just suite guests. Has anyone heard this? CS told me, once the suites are sold out for a sailing, the cabanas open up to everyone... that sounds even sketchier!

When the website was being wonky, I had to call to book a bungalow, but they booked me into a cabana instead. I don't want to find out the hard way that I'm not entitled to a cabana, and they take it away.

  10. What's been explained here before is that they run some sort of test charges daily, then run the total at the end of the cruise. Some financial institutions don't correlate the sum of the daily charges with the final charge, so the charges stay pending for a while, thus tying up a large sum. This process supposedly varies by financial institution, not the cruise line, and is why some report no problem, and others report holds that take days (if not weeks) to fall off.

So happy my credit union doesn't do this, but it's also a pain in the butt to reconcile the daily charges I get to the final folio...

  11. LOL, the definitive answer is "it depends". I went around and around on the phone with RCL. They were adamant that there was nothing they could do. Then, the best they could offer was that I buy a soda package. Problem is, for medical reasons, I can't drink alcohol, soda, or citrus. Long story short... I now no longer have to purchase a package, DD can drink to her hearts content.

If your reasoning behind not wanting to purchase a package is "I don't drink", I'm guessing you're out of luck.

  12. If you do it and get it, just be prepared to know that you’ll never want to sail in anything else again.

Funny, we thought the same thing. We had never sailed in anything lower than a balcony, went up to suites, then decided to try insides. Absolutely LOVE the insides, and now we're giving OV a try for the 3rd time. Will be weird going to a JS in November. Not sure what we will do with all that space! For us, a cabin is a cabin.

  13. I guess you can call me a territory grabber. I am a naturally early riser, so I'm up in the Solarium around 7am. I grab my seat. I also sit in it, or sleep depending on the situation. However, if the time comes that I decided there are other activities I want to do on the ship, I abandon my chair.

I can't tell you the number of times I've had my stuff moved, or almost moved (thank you, chair neighbors), when I was IN THE POOL!!! I like to be in the water, and yes, I have been known to stay in there for more than 30 minutes.

I just don't think there's an easy solution, short of packing the solarium wall to wall with chairs.

  14. Yes, you can book cabanas if you're not in a suite, but you will have to go to Shore Excursions when you board and get on a wait list.

Here's the weird thing. I was just told that's no longer the case (by the DL concierge). They said they opened up the bookings to everyone because there were so many complaints. Sounded like a bunch of baloney... but I was just booked into a Cabana and not in a suite.

Are bungalows supposed to be suite only as well? Wondering (if they're not), that maybe it's incentive to switch to a bungalow, just in case they decide I'm not supposed to be in a Cabana and bump me.
