  3. Thank you, 138east.  Your answers for Alberta Quilter have been very helpful.  After looking around, the Back Bay area looks like a good fit for my husband and I for our 3 Sep cruise departure.

Alberta Quilter, are you on a HAL cruise?

    Cheers

  4. We are arriving in Rio on HAL Zaandam on 1 November 2017. Looking for a rough estimate of how long it generally takes the ship to get cleared and for passenger disembarkation as I am trying to arrange tours for our several days in Rio after the cruise.

Can I make it to my hotel in Copacabana by 1030?

  5. SoccerMom#3,

I swear by my New Balance 956 walking shoes. Wore them for a solid month last fall in Scotland, on all sorts of terrain. I added an airplus orthotic for my plantar fasciitis and couldn't have had more comfortable shoes. They look good with pants and capris.

I'm pretty casual most of the time so for another pair of shoes I usually bring a pair of black flats that look a little dressier to where when not out and about in port.

    Cheers, Julia

  6. Thanks for the excellent review of your cruise. The pictures and and narrative are wonderful. We are doing Avalon Bucharest to Amsterdam in April 2015 and finding descriptions of cruises between Bucharest and Budapest is tough. We previous saw Istanbul on a Med cruise so have opted out of the extra travel on the river cruise.

    Also appreciate the other contributors!

    Thanks, Julia
