  1. A few years ago I purchased a “TravelScoot I” with belt drive, and no reverse. When the “TravelScoot II", with direct motor drive in the left rear wheel, and reverse drive, came out, I bought one of those, and put the first one up for sale, with no luck.

I have used both for shopping, and traveling by air and cruising, it’s light enough (35 lbs) for me to lift it into my minivan, even with 2 batteries. When flying, I drive it right up to the door of the aircraft, put the batteries in to the travel bag, lower the steering yolk, and go to my seat, as a crew member or baggage handler stashes the scooter, with the strollers.

At the destination, I disembark last, and by this time the scooter is by the door, I put everything together, and away I go.

Aboard ship, I can get into tight places (turns) better most other scooters.

Due to the motor being in the left wheel, you can turn right on a dime, like driving in to the left side of an elevator, turn around to the right, and drive out, of course this manuever depends on how full the elevator is. ;)

  2. First the super shuttle is good...but for like $55-60 you can get a private limo for up to 3 right at the curb.....fast and smooth after LAX baggage The limos pick up ar baggage claim curb. The super shuttles require a long walk to a special pick up area and cross several lanes of traffic.

Now Ensenada.... I lived in San Diego for many years and most of us who did would never dream of going there on a bet. The reality is it is a border town at the terminus of the drug cartels shipping. There are several cartels/gangs waging active war for turf and customers. Huge crime problem and the cops are part of the deal...

The new industry between shipment's is kidnapping wealthy looking people. I had friends who touted it as safe...one was murdered and robbed in broad daylight downtown and another just disappeared. Me....I would stay on the ship because you could wake up naked or dead or both in some alley or dumpster.

If you do go stay in groups, don't get into taxies that offer yup a ride...pretend your visting Bagdad with Mexicans The only reason the ship stops there is because its a law it has too...because there is nothing there worth 10 min of your time......

    Whatever you do.....be smart....real smart

I've always found the shuttles within 20' either way of the doors :D

  3. Does anyone k now where Delta airlines domestic flights land in LAX.then how far is Tahiti Nui terminal or pax desk from there!

Are there push carts we can take to go from baggage claim of one to luggage deposit of other

Are they free or will I need coins?

    Thanks

Like most US airports, they have carts at $5.00, and take bills.

    Cato :)

  4. On a typical cruise, Traditional fills up and then passengers are assigned to ATD and put on the TD waiting list. Shouldn't it also work in reverse? Once a critical number of people sign up for ATD, shouldn't the remaining passengers be assigned to a TD table and put on the ATD waiting list?

    God forbid!!!!

    Cato :)

  5. Okay fellow cruisers, seriously need your input on this as next week I need to work out the logistics on our plans to drive to the port area of Fort Lauderdale, and park and cruise options. Have any of you found a reasonable option?

We would like to leave the car at the hotel lot after staying a night. How does this work?

  6. I don't see what the problem is. Be honest. Ask the head

waiter at the door. If he lets you in great. If not, then go

    elsewhere.

This is such a problem for some of the posters here.

So many of them think they are the cruise-ship-police.

Whether one is allowed into the dining room is at the discretion of the head waiter at the door,

    not some self-appointed forum poster...

    Who does??

    Cato :)

  7. I found them needlessly unprofessional and discourteous. First, I had to write them a half dozen times before they would even answer me. They did deliver the chair on time and it was in good repair. But then when it came time for them to return my security deposit, I heard nothing from them. I wrote them 5 emails and they did not respond. So I will have to wait til my statement comes back to me in a month or six weeks to find out if they did or they didn't.

If you don't want to wait, you could contact your credit card company, and see what, if anything they can/may do!!

    Cato :)

  8. Other than on cruise critic, there is no such rule.

    How about simply being honest.

Hello head waiter at the door -- I was late getting back from

an excursion, and I missed my dining time. Can I eat here

    tonight?

On cruise critic -- big problem.

    Reality -- no problem.

I usually try an get a standing reservation in the anytime dining

room. It annoys the most people here. This is what I had

    on my last two cruises.

There are always someone that think only of themselves!! And can do what they want!!

    Cato :)

  9. Where is the sneaking in part?

The head waiter at the door controls access to the dining room,

not the self-appointed cruise critic police.

If it's ok with the head waiter, enjoy your meal...

When you know it's not acceptable, and do it anyway, what if everybody thought that way???

    Cato :)

  10. On my last cruise, we had horrible, horrible french onion soup.

It was just broth and bread. No onions in the bowl, no melted

    cheese on top.

Pablo: this soup is just bread.

    Waiter: but it's gluten free!

    Palbo: Really?

    Waiter: No, not really.

I think if you want gluten free, it's gluten free for you!

What does this have to do with "Ice cream" ??

    Cato :)

  11. Where's Ralph's? We are staying at the Westin in Long Beach and looking for a good spot to pick up a couple of bottles!

We book a private shuttle, from LAX to the Best Western Plus in San Pedro (That way you have the van to yourself, and don't worry about the amount of baggage and scooters). No stops to let other off. :D

Costs a little more, but think of the room, and comfort!

This hotel has breakfast and free cruise shuttle. ;)

Bottles we pick up at YVR, Duty free, prior to flight! :p

6pack; We'll see you on the Christmas cruise!

  12. If you bring your own wheelchair, will a terminal representative push you onto the ship?

We are trying to decide if we should rent a wheelchair for the 2 nights pre cruise & during cruise or just for on the ship. My Dad would be the wheelchair user and he does walk some with a walker.

I have my own TravelScoot, so I drive to the aircraft door, and also on to the ship, without assistance. :D

  13. Btw this is a very big coincidence, yesterday I was at a Julefrokost (Christmas lunch) with my friends and on the stereo a song by Anne Linnet Called Barndommens Gade (the street of my childhood or something like that).

Maybe you can search it on YouTube, its and "old" song from the 80'ies but its actuahttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uQv3ZVgl_FQlly very good if you can ignore the Danish lyrics.

    Try the following website!

  14. I am sure that Princess reserves the right to inspect luggage. I assume that it is similar at least to TSA inspections wherein they x-ray the bags and if something suspicious is found they open and inspect visually. In order to avoid destruction of the locks on luggage it is necessary to use TSA approved locks, which they can open and it is obvious that the locks have been opened when the suitcase is retrieved. I have never seen anything from Princess requiring TSA approved locks that can be opened. If they see something suspicious do they destroy the lock to open the suitcase? If not what do they do?

I don't believe that Princess or any other cruise line has the authority to open any luggage, in the absence of the owner!!!

    very well presented. ;)

  16. Most cruise lines with US based ships require anyone that books a HC cabin to justify the need for the cabin. Claiming to get more space is not a justifiable need.

I think you mean any ships operating in to and/or out of US ports, although registered off shore, has to abide by ADA rules, and not book a non handicap passenger in to a HC cabin, if they do, both the cruise line and the passenger risk a heavy fine.

    Cato. :)

  17. There is a thread where an enterprising CC member has created a spreadsheet with all the drinks available and allows people to determine whether the package is worth it for them. Sorry, I'm not sure how to to post link, but it's a fairly popular thread and it's entitled Princess Beverage Package Evaluator. That should answer any questions.

BTW, if you buy a drink over the $10 limit, you pay full price, not the difference. But the majority of beverages are below $10. It also includes sodas, waters & specialty coffees.

This may help your quest for a price list, to make your shopping list from, mind you these are single shot drinks, with the price as much as doubling with a double drink :D

    It is PDF format!!
