Hurricane Humberto, meanwhile, was beginning to weaken after lashing Bermuda on Wednesday. The hurricane center said the Category 3 storm was likely to become a post-tropical cyclone by Friday.

While the storm did not hit Bermuda directly, it pounded the British Atlantic island offshore with heavy rain while powerful winds above 100 mph knocked down power lines and trees.

The storm left more than 80% of the territory without electricity on Thursday.

Authorities said Humberto also blew off rooftops as it passed by the island. No deaths were reported.

“We’ve made it through and everyone is safe,” said Premier David Burt. “That’s what is most important.”

Security Minister Wayne Caines said schools and government offices were closed. He asked people to stay off roads while emergency crews cleared debris and removed power lines.

Meanwhile, Hurricane Jerry remained a Category 2 hurricane expected to steer away from the Leeward Islands and shift north over the weekend, but threaten Bermuda with reduced intensity by Tuesday

Yes, we are supposed to sail out of Charleston, on the Sunshine, on the 28th, to Bermuda. Fingers crossed and praying Jerry is gone by then. Also, hoping and praying no damage to Bermuda. So wanting to go!

What you're describing sounds like the Comfort Kitchen section of the Lido buffet.  I know Breeze has it.  Sunshine has it too; it's part of the Lido buffet.  Pig & Anchor has its own recipe of mac and cheese.

Thank you landlocked. I will look for it on the Sunshine. It was so delicious!

  3. So, DH and I sailed on the Breeze a few months ago. One day at lunch, on the Lido deck, I had a dish called burnt ends Mac and cheese. It was so delicious!

I am wondering will it be available on our upcoming Sunshine cruise, or is it only on ships that have a Pig and Anchor. It was so good, I'm still thinking about it 4 months later! Best food I've ever eaten on any cruise, hands down.

  4. We just sailed on the Breeze last month in cabin 7459. Our cabin door rattled. We told our steward, maintenance tried to fix it, but it still rattled. I finally slid a hand towel between the door and the jamb. Had to really slam the door to shut it. That helped, but didn't fix it. We slept with pillows over our heads, lol. We didn't notice the noise until the ship started moving. It was unfortunate. First time it's happened in 9 cruises.

  5. Since we are booked January 2020, not only are we going to Nassau and Half Moon Cay, we aren't getting any OBC.  Bummed, because we are disappointed just as much as people who are booked in 2019.

We will keep the cruise but aren't happy with our outcome. If it weren't for our B2B we would cancel.

Well poop!!  I'm booked in 2020 and don't get an onboard credit 😞 I'll have to wait and see what the new itinerary is before deciding to stay on scheduled cruise or switch to another Carnival ship.  I've already been looking and the Pride is sailing the same week as the Sunshine just out of another port.

I'm right there with you! Booked for January 2020, so we don't get OBC, while others do. We are just as upset not to go as everyone else. Won't be rescheduling because this is our first back to back. Will just have to take what we get I guess. Bummer!

  7. We will not cancel or rebook, we will sail wherever they go because the cruise is part of our first back to back. Cuba was on our bucket list, and looking like it will remain there. Just hoping we don't have to sail the same itinerary both cruises.

  8. We have a cruise booked on the Sunshine to Cuba for January 2020. Just waiting and seeing what Carnival says. Still want to go, and will hopefully get there.

Read that if you already have travel booked they will honor it. Only travel booked after June 5th not permitted. We'll see. Fingers crossed!

  10. Hi all. May I please ask if anyone has stayed in cabin 6344 on the Sunshine, does it have a sofa? It's one of the L shaped cabins on deck 6 aft. Looks like an awesome balcony. Just wondering if the layout includes a sofa.

Some friends stayed in a similar cabin on the Magic and they didn't have the couch.

Thanks so much if you know!

  11. I have sent ours via the email guestadmin@carnival.com three times. Have not heard anything, and it's been two weeks. Our cruise is paid off. DH called them(guest administration) this afternoon. They told him to fax it to them. They don't like to get them via email for security reasons. Have always sent them email. DH is taking it to work and faxing it tomorrow. We don't have a fax at home.

I have checked with John Herald as I thought. Platinum and Diamond members have full access to their Cabins ad soon as they are ready. Be 10 am 11 am or whenever. However Carnival will not guarantee that the cabin will be ready prior to 1:30.

The letter states that the cabin will not be ready before 1:30, therefore we cannot access the cabin until then. We will not leave our luggage in the room without being able to lock the door. The sign and sail will not be available until the cabin is ready, so we will have to wait until 1:30, with all the other passengers, so no perk. I don't think you're seeing my point of view. I understand that we should get early access, but as per the letter, we will not.

I am done beating this dead horse. I was passing along information, and my disappointment with said information. I will say no more.

You can go to your cabin to drop off your luggage. You just cant go to your cabin to lounge around.

It may not be that big of a deal if you think about it? Were you planning on taking a nap in your cabin soon after you board? Or were you planning on dropping your luggage off and hitting the lido for some lunch?

Ok reading the letter. It seams to me that you can go to your cabin when you board. They just won't guarantee that it will be cleaned. If it has not been you can still leave your carry on. But then they would like you to go an enjoy the rest of the ship till it is cleaned. But if it is cleaned then feel free to enjoy as normal. However they can not guarantee that it will be cleaned till 1:30

Hi, no the cabin won't be ready until after 1:30. We won't get early access because we won't drop off carry on without being able to lock the room. Since it won't be ready early, we will carry around our luggage until 1:30 just like everyone else, and will grab something to eat, just like everyone else. That's my point all together. We will be doing everything just like everyone else. There is no distinction between blue, red, gold, platinum, or diamond. No supposed perk to enjoy. We are just like everyone else.

No- you can board early thru platinum/diamond lounge, you just can't go to your cabin until after 130pm.

But that is the whole point of being platinum. Early access to cabin is supposed to be a perk, but we won't get it due to high volume of diamond and platinum. I know we can board early, but we still can't go to our cabin until everyone else.

I talked to 2 employees aboard Vista including the head of guest services who told me the number of diamond and platinum is unmanageable and that there really has to be a new loyalty tier.

If the employees on the ship are saying it ..

We had over 600 diamond/platinum plus the FTTF plus the ultra cruisers who all got early access. priorty is getting to be a zoo.

We had one diamond who they called up to the stage who had over 770 or maybe it was 780 days on Carnival. Though only 125 diamonds this time we had over 200 diamonds my last cruise.

I hope someone puts a tickle in John Healds ear about a new loyalty tier. With all these casino cruises there more and more diamonds. a level that maybe should get guaranteed speciality restaurants .... or even one a cruise like NCL.

Id asked about a post i read 2 weeks before i left on my cruise where a diamond couldnt get a steak house reservation. I was told they were always only priority, which is getting to mean not much.

First time I didnt get the dining time I requested, so many people have passed me in days now. Im a mere platinum 174 days i think, so I rate about zero any more.

Ive been eyeing NCL only because I can go out of New Orleans twice iin Nov they had dates with no solo supplemnt. Id really like to get to diamond, but its getting meaningless. ... over 750 days on Carnival .... wow. and she wasnt even that old.

When even the employees on the ship are saying there sure needs to be another loyalty level ... its time already. So they have a workable amount of cabins to prepare as a for instance.

Wow! Will never get that many days. Right now Diamond is far out of reach. This is our first cruise as platinum, and I agree, the perks are not seeming to matter. Maybe you are correct, they need to redo the VIFP program.

Journey cruises generally have a large percentage of D & P's. If there are 1000 people with early boarding, there probably is no way to get all the cabins ready. I might have lunch on shore and relax until 1:30, no reason to hang around a crowded terminal and the VIP lounge will probably be full anyway. Maybe drop your bags off with the porters first and then go back to town, hopefully it will expedite your luggage arrival.

We chose an appointment time of 2pm. Would just keep that, but are traveling with another couple who have an 11am time. We will most likely just stay with them in the regular line.

    STATEROOM ACCESS UPDATE

    November 26, 2018

    Dear Diamond & Platinum Guests,

Since your cruise is just around the corner, we have an important message to share with you.

Due to the high number of Diamond and Platinum guests joining us on Journey voyages, we will be unable to provide early access to staterooms. Staterooms will be ready after 1:30 PM. Once on board, please feel free to drop off any carry-on luggage in your stateroom before heading to lunch.

We apologize for any disappointment this may cause and thank you for your understanding. Our entire Carnival Miracle team is looking forward to providing you with another fun and memorable cruise.

    See you soon!

    Sincerely,
