  1. Always stay at Residence Inn, park and cruise package. They have a two bedroom, two bath suite that we book, since there are usually two couples. Makes it easy to stay together, and take the shuttle to the port.

Also they have a great breakfast buffet included in the package.

  2. Thanks everyone for your comments. Not getting the price drop will not deter us from having a great cruise. It would have been nice to get an extra $50, but maybe on another cruise. I was just excited to see a price drop in our rate, but was disappointed to not be able to take advantage of it due to increased port and tax charges. Still blessed to be able to cruise.

  3. When we booked, cabin cost $1444 per person, taxes and fees were $619.46.

Today, cabin cost per person $1419, taxes and fees are $718.80.

This is for a 14 day Journey cruise to Panama Canal, 4K cabin, on the Miracle out of Tampa,December 2, 2018.

If I claim the price drop, the cruise will cost more, so will not do it. Also, want to keep our cabin, its between the lifeboats, so no downgrade.

  4. It could be the lower rate you saw was for a lower-category cabin, and the category you booked has actually not dropped. Same thing happened to me.

You go on to Carnival's website, and you see a great price in a big font. But when you dig in, it's only for the worst rooms.

If you only care about saving money, you can probably downgrade and get that price. I doubt the port fees have changed unless the itinerary did, and the taxes only change when the government passes a law about it.

No, it's for a 4K, and I scrolled through and checked the price at the end. The taxes and port fees have increased from our original booking, while the cabin category has decreased, therefore making the total more.

If I try and claim the cabin category decrease, they will hit me with the increased taxes and port fees, so will end up paying more total. Not worth it.

Also, can't downgrade with early saver.

  5. We booked our upcoming cruise with early saver rate. I was doing a mock booking to check for price drops. I was excited to find that our rate has dropped $25 per person.

However, once I got to the final total, the taxes and port fees had increased so much that the cruise actually now costs more if I try and claim the price reduction!

Quite frustrated right now. Thanks for letting me vent.

  6. After a couple days she sort of creeped me out. :D

    Take care,

    Mike

us too! The whole ship's decor took a bit of getting used to, especially all the grapes in the dining room, and nude women. Mad Matter lounge was whimsical, and Gatsby's Garden pleasant. Horatio seemed appropriate, with all the ships.

We are sailing on the Miracle again later this year, so we will know how she is decorated when we board. Will be curious to see our friends reaction. It will be their first time on her.

  7. DH and I just sailed on the Miracle December 2-17 to Hawaii. There is no big screen on Lido, no Guys Burgers or Blue Iguana. There is Alchemy Bar, and a nice Serenity area.

The decor takes a little getting used to for us. Lots of nudity around the ship, and grapes everywhere in the Baccus dining room. There is a recurring theme of a woman holding an open book. She is all around the ship. Haven't a clue who she is?

We didn't miss Guys at all, actually prefer the offerings at the outdoor grill, or deli. For us, this was the friendliest crew we have ever sailed with, from the officers to cabin stewards, and everyone in between.

We have another cruise booked on the Miracle for next December. Looking forward to sailing on her again.

If you have specific questions I will try and answer them. Hope this helps.

  8. We have stayed in this room type on Splendor and Glory. We are booked on Glory for a B2B in one for October, on Conquest in 2019 and on the Glory Journey partial Panama Canal transit cruise in Feb 2020. We book far in advance to snag this room type and it's SO worth it!

The rooms are so large, even larger than a balcony room. The chaise lounge is wonderful!

You have to keep your lights off at night if your window are open. The light affect's the ability to see from the bridge. The blinds are motorized though so it's easy. We would get ready for bed with the blinds closed, and then shut the lights off for bed and open the blinds so that we could wake to the sunrise.

Sounds like we are going to love this cabin. We may get spoiled to them. Thanks for the info. Motorized blinds, nice!

  9. Have not been on one, but will be in 14 days! One opened up a few months ago a day after final payment, so I jumped on it. I honestly didn't know much about them at the time.

Looking forward to chaise lounger and extra room! (Along with the huge windows/view)

    Also excited for lido deck

Please post about your experience after your cruise. Would like to know what you think of the cabin.

  10. I upgraded my daughter and her family into one on the Valor a few years ago. One of the best decisions I ever made. We had an aft-extended balcony and I was super jealous of their cabin. The views at night are stunning with the lights off.

Can't wait to see for ourselves. Thanks!
