Looks like a smart decision by the Summit. Ship size will not prevent it from either breaking lines or being slammed into the pier.
-
At this point it looks like the Summit made the right decision to leave early.
-
Should be interesting which captain got it right....

IT does not matter what you want to do on your vacation. Celebrity is selling a product for a very premium price that does not work as promised. Agree with the poster.

We are sailing on the Summit this Sunday and got an EMAIL with an offer if we book a future cruise . Will have to read the fine print before we book but at a glance it sounds good.

Bud is now controlled by InBev a Belgian company and brews beers all over the world.
Complain to them.

It is a fee. Tips should be at your discretion. Sure you can change them or eliminate them if you are not happy with the service but they know that not many people do that.
Yes I know the poor starving third world employees are hard working people supporting their family back home but what does that have to do with me having to support bad service by some os these same employees.
Call it whatever you want but it is fare raise and is a fee. The cruise lines have found a new way to charge you and make ir seem that it is not their fault.

Room service menu and ordering can be done on the TV with the tv remote

Noro Virus. Go have a drink at the schooner bar and they give you a narrow mouth glass jar with peanuts. Watch people put their hands inside the jar to reach the peanuts but when they are finished and leave their table the waitress takes the jar to another table . More hands in the jar.

I paid an additional eighteen percent above the package price when we boarded the Anthem on January 15 2016. We were told the price and that there was additional 18 percent added for gratuities. $490 PLUS $88.00

The housekeeper tip seems high. Maybe ok if you at the Four Seasons or the Ritz.
-
You will pay an additional 18 percent when you buy a package. I am still wondering why when each drink already includes an 18 percent tip.
-
We did it and the people in front of us did not. So we waited while their pix were taken by the agent who had a camera attached to her clip board. It sure seemed to take more then 30 seconds. At home it took a while to size the picture and get one sized to their specs.

New TV AD claiming that they will be sourcing some food from local vendors.. It is the ad where the Celebrity person orders 3000 pounds of Salmon.
What effect will this have on the food for future cruises on Celebrity?

I am confused on the drink packages. When we purchased the package an additional eighteen percent was added. When i get a drink at a bar, the drink without the package includes an eighteen percent tip yet the same drink when you have the package has an additional eighteen percent added . So you seem to being paying an additional eighteen percent per drink to use the package. Sounds to me like a double tip..

Once we made the turn into the main road to the port on departure day about five minutes in we ran into two lanes of traffic which took about twenty minutes to get to the drop off bags location and check in area. Is there a way to get to the parking garage without sitting in this traffic next time . That cruise was on the Anthem but next one will be on the Summit which might have less traffic.

WNBC tv4 in New York reported at 520 PM tonight that the ship MIGHT have suffered propulsion problems.

PJNJ40. NBC is owned by Comcast not exactly a liberal company and before that GE.also not a liberal company. What does liberal or conservative have to do with reporting a ship in a storm? The news stations were getting their stories from on board passengers via the internet not always the most reliable source of info. RCL did a terrible job as a source of information. Their updates sounded like they were written by their PR department.

We were not in a rush in any restaurant but my problem with service was ordering a glass of wine then we we order our meal and the app would arrive but no wine ten minutes latter the main coarse would arrive with the wine. We asked for a second glass of wine which arrived with dessert. We asked for a double expresso instead of coffee and the waitress did not know what w`e m`want . It arrived as a single expresso. No big deal but we are talking service.. Things like that happened more then once.
One night after dinner on our way out of American Bistro at least five different Celebrity people asked us how was you service. They know that they are having service problems according to Celebrity people we spoke to.

The hardest restaurant to get into was Chops at the end of our cruise. We walked up at 630 PM and were told that we might be able to get in if someone with a reservation was a no show. We went to the schooner bar next door and fifteen minutes latter we had a table.

We were on the 1/15/2016 Anthem cruise and the one thing that stood out to me was how bad the service was in the free restaurants on the third and fourth decks. They were all very large and seemed dis- organized. People arrive at different time depending on their reservation. It just doesn't seem to work.
RCCL should combine Silk and American Bistro into a main dining room and go back to the traditional early and late seating. Chic and The Grande could be combined to make them open seatings. Not saying this is the only answer but something has to change.

The food on The last cruise tasted fine but the dining room service was not good. They have cheapened the food. No rack of lamb but you could get lamb shanks.More like a family restaurant then a more expensive restaurant.

Just wondering do you usually tip 36% at home on drinks at home? 18 % as part of the drink package and 18% which is built into the price of a drink which means that you are tipping somewhere around 45 to 48 percent. Very generous..

Does RCL ever offer their drink packages as part of booking similar to Celebrity?
Receipts w/ drink package?
in Celebrity Cruises
Posted
Was on the Anthem this past January and had purchased the drink package and was surprised to get a receipt to sign after never having to do this on Celebrity, While at the bar the bar and beverage manager came around and I asked him why the different policy between the two cruise lines. He seemed surprised and told the bartender to stop using the receipts. The bartender seemed upset and called the beverage manage aside . After that meeting we went back to signing for our drinks.
This is what I learned from another bartender. When the ship was launched it did cruises with mostly Europeans who are used to service included and do not add an additional tip.
When the ship came to the U.S. last fall it now had mostly Americans who are not use to all inclusive and always add an additional tip even though the bar receipt tells you all drinks include gratuity. It was a scam as far as I was concerned.
