  1. Never had an issue, they have always written me back within a few days.

Same here, never had an issue and always get a response within a few days. I always thank them for their time and try to make a point to shake their hand and thank them again when I meet them. All about attitude :)

vimaitred@carnival.com if you don't already have the address

This can be substituted for any ship by just replacing the first two letters (VI) and using the applicable code for each ship (FR for Freedom, GL for Glory etc)

  2. I couldn't care less if Carnival knows I'm gay - I've been out since 1975.

But if you've read the privacy policies of most commercial entities lately, you'll know that whatever information the entity collects - or even, as seems implicit here, speculates about - is not going to be kept "private" in the historical sense of that word.

Straight men cuddle in bed together too - 90+% in a recent British study I read about - and some people just like sleeping in a bigger bed even if they're sharing it with someone. So the idea that Carnival will assume you're gay if you're a same-sex couple who sleeps with the beds together is presumptuous, and the idea that they would share that "information" in, essentially, any way they want is offensive.

No, it won't keep me from cruising with Carnival - I like Carnival. But let's all understand what's going on here.

I think you're reading a little too far into this if you're implying that Carnival automatically assumes anyone of the same sex who request one bed are gay. On the contrary, my PVP (and thus "Carnival") knows my sexual orientation because I've told her that a previous trip was with my partner. I also have her on Facebook, but that's besides the point haha. I self disclosed because I know her well enough and felt like that was relevant, same as I'd share details about whoever else I'm sailing with. I read this as being more concerned with privacy "if" you in any way disclose your orientation. It definitely happens and I think they're probably smart to write something in about how they handle that information.

If you're suggesting they do more with that info, well maybe, but I'm not going to be getting out my tinfoil hat or anything :P just look at most e-mail programs and how they auto-generate ads, they have a pretty good idea of my orientation without me disclosing but I'm not going and getting upset with Gmail. It's the nature of modern privacy.

  3. They do show that Jet Blue does participate but only for FLL. airport. Does anyone know if they will pick up at Miami [Glory] and transport bags to FLL. airport. Also what is the earliest flight time from FLL? We are looking at a 12:34 flight. Thanks.

I think 2pm is the earliest flight times to qualify for FLL.

  4. You could end up in any balcony cabin anywhere on the ship. If you are before final payment, it is likely other balcony cabins will open up after final payment. Carnival also tries to upsell by calling people booked in balcony cabins (and others) and offering them suites, sometimes at a discount, so other balcony cabins can open up that way. Of course, you could also end up in a cabin you want, but it's a gamble.

Bingo! You never know really. We've had this assumption before and it doesn't always play out. Though we have gotten lucky before. We booked two cabins once, one assigned and one guarantee. The assigned one was on the Panorama Deck and then our guarantee ended up being a 4J (front facing "oceanview") on Panorama too! Our PVP said if you have cabins linked, they take that into account sometimes when assigning guarantees. We were very happy about that :)

  5. Carnival Glory doesn't have a Cloud 9 spa or spa passes so unless you just want to be close to the spa, it may not be worth it.

That's what I was wondering...pretty sure it's just the regular spa and the cabins around it are not "spa" cabins on this ship.

Good choice on Deck 10 though! We're on that deck for our B2B on Glory next week and can't wait! Love being up on 9 or 10, hope you will too :)

  6. Okay, I just dug out my bag of the little towels and I was off on the size. They are actually the diameter of a nickel, and the thickness of 6 stacked nickels. The name is EZ Towel. I bought them through a fund raiser at work a couple of months ago, but according to the web site they are also available at various retail stores. Here is the link: http://www.eztowel.com/

I hope it's okay to post links here. If not, I guess it will be pulled. So, I will have to send emails out if that happens.

As for the shoes, there are two brands. The original is One Sole, and they have about 100+ different tops to order. There are 3 heel sizes. The soles are $125, but like I said, once you buy a sole it lasts a long time, and then you just buy different tops, which cost anywhere from $14 to $30. Perfect for cruises!!! http://www.onesole.com/

There is another brand, called Lexees, where the soles are half the price! at only $65. But, they only have about 20 tops to choose from. http://www.snaponsandals.com/index.htm

    Happy shopping!

An airline who's name I will not mention used to use these for the on board hot towel service. They stopped using them, partly because there was an issue with passengers occasionally eating them...since they do look a bit like breath mints before you apply water to them! rumour has it there are still some around the office and occasionally they come out when a good prank among staff is needed!

  7. Personally, I'd email the MD. If you email JH, he's just going to go email the MD anyways. John has a lot on his plate, routine dinner requests should probably go right to the guy in charge of those on your ship. But of course, there's no guarantee and sometimes a visit in person on embarkation day is what it takes.

    Good luck either way!

  8. What happens if you're B2B with different cabins? Can baggage be held somewhere or brought right to your new room? Or does it come off with you?

We are booked b2b in November but may upgrade the cabin on the second leg only, so we're weighing our options :)

  9. Common way for them to do a sale. Honestly, not a great offer, compared to some others that I've seen before. Usually upgrades within the same type (eg interior, balcony, etc) are ~$20 per category. So a two category upgrade would equate to an approximate savings of $40. Of course it all depends how much you value your room location and such as well as the terms (such as cancellation) of the booking.

  10. Hey everyone! I'm looking for information from anyone who has recently sailed on the Carnival Victory (or Valor since it was doing this route until just recently) especially on the 4-night cruises arriving Monday's into Port of Miami. What time did disembarkation begin? I'm talking, first group of self-assists running down the gangway :p

Here is why I'm asking: I've had a work opportunity come up that has me with confirmed flight to/from FLL. The outbound is at my discretion and I can take a few days off so I'm hoping to sail on the 4-night Key West/Cozumel on Victory Thurs Feb 28. The catch is that I have to be on an 11:15am FLL flight home. I work for an airline and that is the flight the airline needs me on, however I will be a confirmed passenger. Just want to get a realistic idea on how early people have been getting off the ship. It is published as an 8am arrival but I've seen that before and been off before that.

The deal is unreal at only ~$400 each all taxes in for a balcony guarantee, with no balconies currently available, only suites. The upgrade stakes are good and that price for even any balcony is pretty reasonable. It's on hold thru my PVP so I'd love any advice you all have!

Note: As I said, I do work for an airline and am aware of the inherent risk here. But you know how it is once you have the cruise bug :p just can't turn down an opportunity! Cheers!
