  1. We booked about 2 weeks ago while on Millennium. We received the cabin upgrade and then basically had the choice of 2 of the PYP offers. We went for the drink package and could have had $200 OBC for the cruise we were on. Usually when we book when onboard we pay $200Aus deposit but if we wanted to received the $200 OBC for the current cruise we would have to pay the exchange rate of $200US which was about $215. As we had already purchased a pile of OBC for that cruise we opted to have the OBC for the new booking. Not sure why but that became $250 for the future cruise and $200Aus deposit

  2. First, RIP to those people who were killed onboard Malaysian airlines in that evil act.

My query relates to the various ship classes. Having just disembarked from the Equinox we are looking at an Alaskan cruise. Pretty much hooked on Celebrity so am thinking of cruising on Millenium class now as we don't want to start in Seattle on Solstice. Having loved the Equinox more than we thought we would, will we be somewhat disappointed with Millenium?.

We cruised on Millenium last year having cruised on Solstice the year before. I must admit when we first boarded we were a bit disappointed as she was a little bit the worse for wear in a couple of places and didn't have things like the lawn and glass show but having said that once we had been on for a little while we didn't notice things that weren't as good as the Solstice and started noticing things that were better. The things like food, lack of announcements, smoking policy, service etc are the same. We board her again next month for our Alaskan cruise and are looking forward to it immensely. Hopefully we can spend a bit of time in the thalassotherapy pool. Any cruise is great and having tried a couple of different lines Celebrity is our favourite.

  3. I'm not sure how it works in the UK, but in the US, when you receive your eDocs, there will be a line item below that where you can order your luggage tags. They usually arrive about 30-45 days prior to sailing.

Unfortunately the luggage labels are only delivered if you live in America or I believe also if you pay to have your documents posted instead of emailed.

  4. Well Pean... If you on solstice in October it will be my shout on the square bottle!!

Thanks again your post it has reassured us that we didn't get ripped with the pick your perk promo

Out of interest do you have the list of cocktails for the premium package?

You are welcome. Glad I was able to help.

We are happy with the included drinks as well (we are all fans of what is lovingly called the square bottle in our house) but there is still a fair bit of discussion going on about it on the Celebrity board.

  6. Wouldn't work rather could you please repost

    Cheers

  8. Sorry if this seems like a silly question, but if we book onboard do we have to pay our cruise off in US dollars? Or will our reservation be in our home countries currency (AUS)? With the fluctuating dollar I prefer not to have a reservation in another currency. As if the dollar goes down the cost of my cruise goes up.

We have booked on board several times and were charged in AUS$. One thing to be aware of is some local TAs have as part of there T&C that they reserve the right to adjust the price before full payment is made if the dollar drops too much even if quoted in AUS$. If you book through Celebrity once you have paid your deposit they honour that price.

  9. I just followed that link and spent AUD$25, and I purchased one obc gift. It didn't seem to tell me that it was US$25 obc, so I will be interested to see how it flows. That seems very good value!

You wont be disappointed. I have been doing it for years and it has always been $25US OBC. The only variance is how much we pay. I once paid about $28.00 AUS but even then it was a good exchange rate at the time. Don't forget to make sure your payment goes through. Unfortunately it is another glitch with their website. Enjoy your cruise.

  10. We have bought OBC several times before our cruise as we like to minimise after cruise shocks and it works quite well. At the moment Celebrity is still selling $25USD OBC for $25AUS which is much better than anything you will get elsewhere. I have been expecting it to change for several months now but they are still selling at parity. We have bought OBC for our August 2014 and March 2015 cruises. The only problem is you have to check that is has gone through. You receive an email almost immediately saying you have bought OBC but that is an automatic one and I always check the card statement because several times the payment has not come out and when I call Celebrity they have no record of the request. You can buy a maximum of 9 lots of $25 at a time but you can choose continue shopping and add another 9 if you wish. 11. My DW and I are on the Solstice cruise from Sydney to Hawaii departing April 11th. Will we be able to watch the Adelaide crows play on 20th? Is AFL on the TV?

Hi metter. I can't say for sure which games will be shown but as you are leaving from Australia I am pretty sure there will be some AFL games. We were on the Solstice on a Mediterranean cruise a couple of years ago and a West Coast V Geelong game was being shown in the casino. Last year on an Asian cruise on Millenium we were hoping the West Coast V Freo game would be shown in the casino but unfortunately not. When we put our cabin TV on as we were getting ready for dinner the game was being shown. We managed to see the last quarter.

  12. We booked direct with Celebrity for our last cruise and our next one and they do add the gratuities as part of the booking. There is no need to worry, you will not be charged again. I actually prefer prepaying as the least shock at the end of a cruise with our sea pass card the better.

  13. Counting the days down until departure - 7 sleeps. New Zealand here I come.

Does anyone know if they have Senior Meet-ups or over 50's/60's meet-ups for older age single travellers on the Celebrity Solstice?:)

Hi Aussilady and welcome to cruise critic. The best thing to do would be to check the roll call for your cruise. The people on these sometimes organise various catch ups. Go to the link below and find your cruise date. Enjoy your trip. She is a lovely ship.

  14. Sorry, I didn't mean to cause any problem. We had "123Go" that finished yesterday and this morning "Pick your Perk" was showing. I just assumed it will be worldwide and wanted to let people know in case they were worrying about missing out if they didn't book the "123Go"

  15. I've purchased OBC many times, it doesn't show on your my celebrity account but should have been debited from your card account. Did you receive a confirmation email? If so I would suggest you ring the gifts department and query it :)

That is the most annoying thing. You receive an automatic email thanking you for placing your order and saying it is confirmed unless you hear otherwise but the last time I ordered I had to do it three times before it went through properly. When the amount was not taken off my card I sent an email querying it and gave the order number quoted on the confirmation email and I was told they had no record of the order.

  16. Over a month ago I purchased OBC through the Gifts by Celebrity....trying to avoid the currency exchange. I purchased $100US and should've incurred a charge to my credit card of $103.60CDN I have yet to see the charge applied to my CC and don't see the purchase on My Celebrity under my June cruise either...anyone else have this problem?

    Cathy

Unfortunately this is an ongoing problem. If the payment does not show up on your credit card you have not bought the OBC. I have had this happen several times and had to reorder. The OBC will not show in My Celebrity but have never had a problem with it showing within a couple of days of boarding the ship but we always take a copy of the email from Celebrity and a copy of the bank statement showing when the payment was made. This just seems to be another problem with their website.
