  1. Hi there,

Could you please tell me which phone number you went through to get to the Call Centre Operator? Can anyone tell me who has previously ordered OBC's? Was it the Australian number 1800 754 500? This is the one I suffered through but still didn't have any luck with and kept getting shuffled through all the Departments....

You can't order through the Gift Centre for Celebrity Online - that only gives you the option of ordering $25 Gift Certificates x 9 - no more!

    Aghhhh

I have ordered OBC several times through the online gift centre. You can order more than 9 lots, simply order the 9 and then select continue shopping or similar and you can then order another 9. Just be aware that sometimes even after receiving your confirmation email that does not mean your order has gone through. Check your bank or however you paid to make sure the payment has been made and then you know you have the OBC.

  2. I am currently booked in a category 1A on the Reflection and I was told that the verandas were bigger because of the angles of the ship. Has anyone booked one of these cabins and can you tell me if this is true? I can get a concierge veranda for $20 more for the cabin. Is this a better deal?

You are right. A1 and also some C2 cabins have larger balconies. In the link below 9237 and 9241 have balconies approx three times the depth of usual balconies. 9239 and 9243 balconies are about twice the size. This is the same all the way through the ship. First and third balconies on the angle are the biggest, second and fourth balconies are the next largest.

As far as $20 extra for concierge it would depend on if it is one with a larger balcony or not. There are a few extras you get with concierge, some people think it is worthwhile, others don't. Here is a link regarding concierge

Sorry I just noticed the link doesn't open the deck plan. Select deck 9 and you can see what I am talking about

  3. I have done this several times but just a warning, although you receive an email saying something like 'this email is confirmation your order has gone through' check the account where you made the payment from and make sure the money has been taken out as sometimes the money doesn't come out and when you ring up to check they have no record of your request. The last time I had to purchase it three times for it to show. Just another problem with their website.

As far as only being able to purchase 9 lots of OBC once you have selected the 9 you can continue shopping and purchase more.

  4. Hi everyone!

We're booked on the Century to Fiji from Oz next October 30th.

I've been reading up on the threads, ranging in everything from guaranteed cabins to size of balconies.....

The constant chat I've noticed is that everyone wants their cabin to be on the "hump".

Please explain to an ignorant first time Celebrity cruiser from Oz what the heck is the "hump" and why is it so important.

Please be kind to me - I promise to try to keep "talking the talk" once it's explained to me!

    Thanks,

    Ratacake

Hi Ratacake. I hope I can explain this properly but on Solstice class ships the decks protrude slightly near the middle of the ship. This is the hump. The cabins on the angle of the hump have larger balconies. The cabins and balconies on the straight of the hump are normal size but prized by many cruisers. Century does not have any hump cabins.

  5. This sounds good- will check it out in the morning. If one buys too much obc & it's not all spent can you get a refund?

And is the obc purchased online or do I have to go through the ta?

Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app

I can not say for sure as we have always used it all but before I purchased it the first time I rang up and asked what would happen to unused OBC and I was told we would lose it but when I checked the account on board the OBC was listed as refundable so I think I may have been given the wrong information.

You purchase it online. It is very easy to do but I do not know which cruise lines apart from Celebrity do it. Below is the link for Celebrity cruises.

  6. Hi. Have booked a cruise on Radiance for Christmas. Not been on a ship that uses US DOLLARS. When do you think I should get some US dollars as we would like to have a flutter in the Casino. Also -are we better to pay our on board account in cash Aust or Us or use our credit card? Thanks Suexxx

On Celebrity you can buy OBC before you leave. They are currently selling it at AUS$25.00 buys you USD$25.00 OBC. I am not sure if you can do that on Royal Caribbean but as they are the same company it may be worth checking out.

  7. Do I understand correctly you are allowed to purchase a bottle of alcohol and take to your room? Is this ordered prior to boarding or once on board in the liquor store? Thanks.

You can either order it before you go http://www.celebritycruises.com/planAndBook/tabLanding.do?pagename=onboard_beverage_packages#onboard_beverage_packages_stateroom_bar_tab/onboard/asrPanel.do%3Fpagename=onboard_beverage_packages_stateroom_bar&ComponentTypeId=17&categoryId=&currencyCode=USD (I hope this link works) or you can order it through your room steward. It includes 6 mixers of your choice and a box of nuts or similar

  8. Come over and visit us on the roll call icantwaittocruise

    http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1884774

I posted this price drop on our roll call last week, unfortunately I couldn't take advantage of it as I booked through an Australian TA, however I was able to upgrade from a 2A to an A1 for no charge. However all the others on our roll call got the price drop, good to know you got it too:D

Is this a recent change. I have booked direct with Celebrity and also with an Aussie TA and had no problem getting price drops with either of them. The TA was about two years ago though.

  9. You Cruise Critics are all fabulous! Thanks for the continued feedback!

The deck we're eyeing is Reflection's Penthouse deck, which I understand has cabins both above and below which hopefully means no pool/chair/restaurant noise. That deck also seems to be AQ and CC cabins mostly, meaning fewer kiddos coming and going…

The cabins we are now considering include: 1628, 1630 or 1632 which are all CC rooms that I think are on what is described as "the hump". Is that a good place to be? From what I've read it looks like those rooms have nice views!

These cabins are indeed on the hump but the ones that most people like (us included) are the ones on the angle of the hump as they have larger balconies. Looking at the cabins you mentioned they are C1, you may be able to get a C2 cabin on the angle of the hump which still gives you the same benefits as the C1 but may save you a bit more towards your packages.

  10. Has anyone used Bao Loc from Privatevietnamtourguide. He has great reviews on Tripadvisor but then when you read further some posters appear to imply the reviews are fake as they are made by people who have not posted before. It seems a bit unfair that you can only be taken seriously if you have posted previously but any assistance anyone can give here would be greatly appreciated.

As long as you have posted before :) :)

    Thanks
