  1. Really? That’s a shame, because I was promised (yes, promised!) by the Seabourn management (when I talked to them 4-5 weeks ago) they this promotion will last at least until the end of 2024 (booking date, not a sale date)! The reason I called was I was thinking to potentially change my current April 2024 expedition booking made on-board to some other a year later; so, they told me if decide to switch to a different expedition cruise, I may do it and still apply this promotion.
  2. I did not get it: I posted the actual promotion flyer, and that’s what I used to book my next 17-night Papeete - Solomon Islands cruise in April 14, 2024 on Pursuit (when I was on the Venture in March). I would not be able to get additional 30% from my home; so, I have no clue what your comment was about. Actually, I even tried to apply the current Seabourn website promotion to my existing book/on-board booking, and I was denied.
  3. It is officially 35% (one can twist it anyway a person likes it). And, as I mentioned, regular (non-expedition) 5% is combinable with other promotions and the loyalty discount while expedition 35% is not.
  4. 5% book-on-board combinable with 1. website promotions available at time of booking on-board (like the current "Bon Voyage Event") and 2. a Seabourn Club Loyalty level discount. 35% expedition book-on-board discount is not combinable with them, but it's way more by itself. Seabourn also has a nice Referral program (recently reduced, however) OBC program (not available when booked through a personal travel agency if the agency gives you OBC).
  5. If you book an expedition cruise on-board of Seabourn, you would get 35% off. We did it during our Brazil Coast-Amazon March Seabourn Venture cruise (we booked the least expensive cabin and saved $10,000 for a cabin). They run this promotion indefinitely so far (no closing date).
  6. The least expensive excursions we experienced were on Ponant (about 2-3 times less than on other itinerary/time comparable cruise lines).
  7. The most critical entity of cruising besides value is convenience - where else one may enjoy to visit a dozen of places (for example, we are leaving in 2 days for 16-day Azamara Pursuit, Norwegian “Midnight sun” cruise with only 4 sea days) through 1 unpacking. I cannot even imagine to book 12 hotels, pack/unpack every day, take a bus/train/ferry, search for restaurants in the school place 2-3 times a day. They would be “nightmare” (in a way) instead of joyful vacation.
  8. Then quality will gradually drop more... In the end, what category of cruisers would like to buy those cruises?
  9. They are not “real”, anyway - frozen who knows for how long?
  10. It's all really good (we've been) in a suite on the Edge. However, for its price these days, one might get a luxury cruise like Seabourn, Ponant, or even Regent for the same number of days (or even for a lesser price).
  11. Thank you for clarification. Again, sarcasm implies (targeting) some sort of pocking on a "respondent". I always try to avoid that making more irony (sometimes sad reality, sometimes, absurdity, sometimes "black humor") than sarcasm.
  12. I don't think the person who replied to my comment was ether sardonic or sarcastic. I have a "special" style of writing that might resides between ironical, sardonic, and sarcastic (not cynical, however); so, I always try to avoid latter two focusing on the former one (ironical). I also write the way to be read "between lines". Therefore, people who are not prepared often really don't understand my writing. Voyage, Voyage, everyone!!!
  13. That’s a whole different topic.
  14. Precisely, and metaphor, too. I’m originally from USSR (left in 1991); so, I’m used to such a language (a way to survive in the mad world). I also can live without eating for a few days. I, however, don’t propose it to practice during a cruise.
  15. It meant: if I’m Spartan (simple life without requests for pleasure and convenience), it doesn’t mean everyone else must be the same way. Another way to say it: on cruises one may expect a joy of full relaxation being away from daily routines and responsibilities. Also paying above average fares yields “hope” for also above average treatment and service, and reduction of a such leads to a lack of desire to proceed with further loyalty with a brand that loosing its touch and charm.
  16. Oh, boy!!! All such comments!!!. For me breakfast is not necessary (at all). I eat it on cruises, but I don't eat it otherwise; so, I easily can skip it on the ship (or eat it every other day). Now... The cruise line will "listen to me" and ... Voilà!!! - No more breakfast or serving it just on even days... Voyage, Voyage!!!
  17. For us it was the best (the most extended) beverage list from all cruises we've been on including Regent, Ponant (a French cruise line), Seabourn, Azamara. Each bar and lounge have its own different list of wines, spirits, beers, Porto's. I couldn't believe how many choices they have on this ship. Tis ship actually has awards for this matter. The Persian Garden is also outstanding!
  18. It actually doesn’t matter, anymore. These days - “old norm”; “new norm”; everyone is extremist if one doesn’t agree with “them”; also, everyone is “dismissed”; “left”; “right”; “wrong”; “outraged”; “vocal”; “viral”; “baselessly stated”; “abused”. Basically, it is George Carlin all over again! Cruising is goooooooood!!! Voyage, Voyage!!!
  19. The whole world changed? Really? Some peoples’ mind changed. Mine is not (“The anticipation of death is worse than death itself”). Voyage, Voyage!!!
  20. Everything is a possibility. Once we were on a cruise stopped in Lisbon, and while walking down on our own, we all of a sudden literally occurred in the middle of a strike. It looked scary for some people (screaming and demanding crew surrounded us). I have a better memory of Lisbon: during a different cruise, I broke 5 ribs while walking on a sleek famous stones during pouring rain in the construction zone covered with pasty dust near the port. I still danced for 6 remaining cruise days. What’s more scary, a strike or my condition when could not sleep (at all), cough, laugh, breath for next 3 weeks. I still love Lisbon (been there 6 times).
  21. With such a mentality, there shall be no cruises whatsoever anywhere except cruises to nowhere (there is always a concern of a possibility of being stuck in any port of call for dozens of reasons whether it's strike or whatever else the world or nature might throw in one's direction).
  22. My comment was an ironical way of saying the same matter what you delivered. I’m also wearing a proper attire whenever it’s needed, requested, or suggested. It’s so funny to see lately people in tuxedos, shorts, and even swimming attire in ships’ elevators between 5:30-7 pm). I always smile recollecting such a picture in my memory.
  23. As in “I cannot believe people not wearing shorts are still cruising”.
  24. Because they wear formal shorts. Therefore, those shorts are defended. Does one have pretension to the word “formal”.
