  1. A lot of Winter locations overheat buildings. One of the reasons I wear a Tshirt or tank with a light shrug at work in the winter. I'd do the lightweight silks, too, if I wanted a base layer and wasn't used to cold weather. I've never used a base layer here in the mountains, except with unlined ski pants. One thing about that base layer - you can always duck into a restroom and take them off, or vise versa.
  2. Perhaps their luggage did not arrive with them. They may be wearing the same grubby clothes because that's all they have. And, who is to say the did not shower? Who is it to say that someone with "clean" clothes on took a shower? Someone on a schedule and is late may forego that shower.
  3. Thanks for the suggestions all. I'll look around. melody - sorry 'bout the metal allergy. my one neice has it, too. have you tried surgical steel? Cool and rainy today - from upper 70s on Friday to the lower 40s today. Gotta love Spring in the mountains! hey, some TJ's suggestions; in the Frozen section, the Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal bites. If anyone likes that kind of oatmeal, the bites are a nice breakfast or snack. 10 minutes in the air fryer and ready to go! OOTD: joggers and a Tshirt - not going anywhere today.
  4. Cynthia - I made a nice little slushy out some of the TJ's jalapeño limeade and ice. Blended in my Blendjet (a wonderful USB personal blender!). Yummy! I like that little bite of heat at the end. It was too early in the day to add in some Tito's, but I will do that some evening! In their dairy section, they had bottles of fresh Spicy Mango Juice. That one should be good blended up with some vodka or maybe even rum!!
  5. The earrings, they will go great with my dress for the wedding, and the classic jeans and a white shirt. Sundance has had different permutations of these for years, but this one just called with the right colors and the $75 price was right:
  6. i think they could do only 4 Searching for italy was due to COVID. note the masking in the shows, plus since London is home, it was easier to do one there than travel to Italy, just my theory. man, lots of memorial day sales on all those websites with cool clothes. I'm for sure going back go Sundance and picking up one pair of earrings I've been eyeing - 25% off. melody - sadly I don't have a costco membership... the shorts aren't an immediate need, but something I want for general Summer. The pork tenderloin with the citrus seasoning was just OK, but still good to eat,.
  7. That's me - a day late and a dollar short,,,
  8. First off - everyone have a good holiday weekend! Remember to take a little time to honor those who sacrificed for us. Let Summer begin... Food thing: I'm on the tenderloin train. What I think I'm going to do tonight is rub the 'loin with some of my TJ's Citrusy Garlic seasoning. Who knows?? Clothes question? Anyone seen decent jeans shorts that aren't ripped, unheeded, VERY short?? lighter wash, and ability to roll up are necessities. I'm almost at a point to buy a pair of jeans and take them to a seamstress to turn into shorts. OOTD: sleeveless Vneck T, capri leggings. it's hot here today (up to 78), but it drops back to cloudy and upper 40s for the weekend. I'll replace the Vneck with a long-sleeve T.
  9. Cynthia - I wonder if Eataly in Florence would be of any interest to young 'ums in terms of places to grab a bite and many some food souvenirs? Havent' been to that one, but been to the one in NYC and los Angeles.
  10. i'll have to do that. i'm vegging out on Below Deck Med - a little mindless noise while I'm doing things.
  11. I've had them off and on for years when I get bronchitis. Totally useless on me. The only thing that works is hydrocodone and we do that as a last resort.
  12. If you liked the look of those Clark's, I recommend looking at the Jambu site. Lots of MJs. I have multiple styles of their shoes. I've walked all over Rome, Florence, Barcelona, Paris and beyond in them. I just wish they still made my faves, but they are several years gone. Glad I bought 3 pair!
  13. I had to stop watching any news. I cannot stand hearing any more stupid, insensitive comments from certain people. Some seem to forget the "well-regulated militia" part of the 2nd Amendment. Melody - I struck out trying to find those onions. 2 Walmarts and 3 supermarkets. One Walmart had jars of the pickled beets and shredded red cabbage, though. Cynthia - i bought some of the jalapeño limeade. i will be adding a little vodka and blending it up with some ice in my Blendjet to make a slushie.
  14. I just thought of this: when you come back, please add your food adventures to our sticky up top of this forum so others will be able to see your reviews.
  15. cynthia and I do have a few different opinions, but not too many😉 HINT: think of what you want to drink, go to the cashier to order and pay, THEN go to the counter, put down your receipt and a barista will eventually grab your receipt and make your drink. This part may be urban legend, but I still do it; i put a little coin down on top of the receipt, supposedly a barista will grab these first. i just think of it as a little tip... Antica Salumeria is exactly the name!!! It's also good for a late-night snack... oh, if you have a candy need - there is a shop across from Tazzo d' Oro, Venchi. it's also a gelateria, but I go there to grab some candy to bring home.
  16. You misunderstand: "ACE Inhibitor" is a type of medication. It is used for blood pressure issues,
  17. Two things I'll add that Cynthia didn't in the Pantheon area: Caffe d' Oro for your cafe e cornetto fix (and their WONDERFUL caffe granita with whip cream - perfect for a hot day cool-off) and a little sandwich and pastry shop in the piazza of the Pantheon (looking out from the Pantheon, it is on the left, across from your hotel). Cynthia - did Armando actually go to a 2-seating setup? I haven't been there in awhile so it is possible. I've been there both pre-and-post renovation/expansion - imagine what it was like BEFORE!!! I'll agree with others that your itinerary seems a bit tour-heavy. To me, you need more time to just relax and wander.
  18. I fear that the US in general is becoming numb to these murders. "thoughts and prayers" and other words. "we have to do something" and other words. Give it maybe 2 weeks and it's crickets again. It's disgusting. I fear for my grandniece, who is an elementary teacher. We shouldn't have to worry about our children and staff. Steve Kerr's press conference was just powerful. He knows personally about loss at the hands of a gunman - his father was assassinated when he was President of American University in 1984 in Beirut. I still remember that. He speaks out frequently on social issues. A man with a conscience and walks his talk. On to other things: my ultrasound was normal. So, I wait to see the ENT to find out what we can try to get rid of this cough. I had my dentist appointment yesterday - easiest cleaning in years. My dentist said that I now have the oldest intact baby tooth in his practice now. I did stop off at REI and TJ's after the dentist. Anniversary sale on at REI. I surprised myself and only bought some needed socks and a set of big tie twists (to attach my daypack to my roller bag). Used my dividend from last year's purchases and ended up "free". Something must have been wrong with me that I didn't get more!! TJ's was more of a beverage run this time - low cal lemonade, watermelon cucumber, some cans of flavored sparkling tea, some sparkling waters. Not a massive purchase this time.
  19. As far as testing negative but then contracting COVID: Remember that the test is only a snapshot of your status at the moment you take the test...
  20. oh, I know I have long COVID. I first had COVID in it's original form back in Jan 2020, before testing & vax. I have vertigo, bouts of major fatigue, some other things from that. The cough was under control until I caught omicron when it ran through our condo team. The cough came back major, so far, the usual hasn't helped. So, that's why the ENT is next. As the ACE inhibitor: I had been on lisinoprol for awhile, but stopped a year ago because we thought i might be getting the "lisinoprol cough." So, we thought of this one already. I'll have my sign ready...
  21. If the ENT cannot figure out why I'm still coughing 5 months after Covid #2, I'm going to have to hang a sign around my neck that says "It isn't COVID"...
  22. Before I had my smartphone, I traveled with my iPad mini. I'd pop into a TIM store in Rome and get a SIM for it. Easy. Worked great for what I needed around Italy. Not that expensive, either.
  23. I have a bag like that - within width and depth, but too long. I'll check it for planes, but it fits easily into the train overheads. Usually used on a winter vacation where special things are required.
  24. my anecdotal experiences working at 3 high-end hotels did not have this experience. My experiences were bookings weren't honored because they were booked wrong (wrong date, wrong bed type), the entry in the booking portal lagged behind actual availability (big with last-second things). We'd do our best to try to fix these, but it's not always possible.
