  1. That is an ideal solution - enjoy! If there is no central taxi number to request a taxi as in other ports then you’re out of luck at Brewers, Cowpet and other less-visited areas..
  2. Sapphire is attracting more day visitors because there are just so many of them, and off-the-beach snorkeling (with all amenities) is limited to a few beaches. But it does offer the two snorkel areas with the sandier bottom swimming area in the center when the current hasn’t moved the sand… Coki can be a mess for snorkeling with so many novices churning up the water and feeding the fish…😔
  3. We always rent when staying on STT and I never inquired - but can’t you call a taxi? I thought there were sedans, or “non-safari” type taxis?
  4. For snorkeling would choose Sapphire, or Brewers if you don’t need lounges…
  5. For STT the cruise ship schedule on the VINow site shows what ships are scheduled for each dock, the scheduled arrival/departure times, and the ship passenger capacity..
  6. Yes they look to be fully booked during that period. But this is the Cancun forum, I’ve sent a request for your question to be moved to the Cozumel forum for more feedback…
  7. The western sail (JVD). Also Check itineraries offered by Kuralu and Patouche!
  8. Yes they normally sail out of West End for the west sails…
  9. Thank you for the question kayehall, and for that great feedback iheartmarshall! We haven’t cruised in 10 years or so because we built a retirement hone in the Riviera Maya, and spent most of our time there. But we just reversed course and sold there so we can enjoy more cruising and visiting other areas we love. And since we’ve only been to New Providence Island we are curious about the “private island” options. Your feedback helps, thanks again!
  10. Love your post and attitude! So are you actually just looking for an easy beach day on ST Thomas where you dock? Not St John…If so I agree that Lindbergh Bay - aka Emerald Beach after the Emerald Beach Resort - is your best bet for a decent beach with comfortable amenities for you. Your choice on a shared safari taxi with your kiddo on your lap, or a private ride with a car set, taxis are at your disposal at the dock.
  11. That is an easy beach day, especially from Crown. Great choice, and thanks for the chuckle! ☺️
  12. That is perfect though - may be exactly what the OP was asking for…I didn’t try googling for that…
  13. Yes I wondered if someone else could share a vendor contact for Beachedgirl…
  14. I did just see that you are the last ship in port, I had missed that in your title, sorry. So yes that makes it hard to plan a beach day. No time left to look at other options like day sails I see, but hopefully you can enjoy a nice beach day wherever you land!
  15. Cigarettes can still be sold here but cannot be displayed. Smoking is still taking place in public areas, including beaches, but enforcement has been ramping up. This was the initial info we saw here - Lots of discussion on the local forums of course! “Starting January 15, smoking will be totally prohibited in public places throughout Mexico; business sector will protect themselves against this measure. The Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF) published the decree that reforms the Regulations of the Tobacco Control Law, approved in February 2022, which prohibits smoking in public places throughout Mexico. Therefore, starting Sunday, January 15, smoking will be prohibited in OFFICES, RESTAURANTS, HOTELS, PARKS, and BEACHES. It is prohibited to display cigarettes for sale. In addition to the prohibition of the use of cigarettes in public spaces, the Tobacco Control Law established that the advertising and dissemination of tobacco products will be prohibited by any channel. Cigars cannot be displayed in any establishment for sale.”
  16. Yes that is the itinerary and will give you ~2.5 hrs in White Bay, if no delays… My only question is …is it worth the travel time and cost? Tortola has some gorgeous beaches, and you could rent a Jeep and head to Smuggler’s Cove where you can have drinks and lunch without the travel time…Just a thought… But the one good thing about going to White Bay in the morning is the afternoon crowd isn’t there yet! Unfortunately we just lost Seddy (Seddy’s One Love), and we’re still in shock…If you see his Dad (Foxy) in Great Harbor you could pay your respects…
  17. You asked if lounges would be available at Coki midday, without providing the arrival/departure times - and the sizes - of the ships in port that day…That info is somewhat pertinent…:) Maybe there will be 10 loungers free at Coki, it’s just such a small beach that I’d be concerned arriving at that time if I am part of a group of 10… If I was looking for a beach with available lounges for 10 people, I would have been calling AADivers at SH to see if they would hold 10 lounges for us because we know they do that. And a taxi can easily be called for pick-up at SH…If the answer was no for this larger group we’d make a bee line to Sapphire. Good luck, I’m sure you will make it work, and enjoy your cruise! 😄
  18. Your info is sketchy…What is your port date and ship? Coki would probably be our last choice in your situation, thinking SH and reserving ahead of time but not sure for a larger group… but need more info…
  19. It sounds like you are new to STT…😄 You will see shared safari taxis lined up at the dock waiting to whisk you and your fellow passengers to the different beaches and other sights. Taxis also line up at Magens (and other beaches) for your return. Taxi fare from Havensight (WICO) is $12/pp each way. Magens Bay is the #1 touted beach on the island and so one of the busiest. There are lounges and restroom facilities and food and drinks. But depending on your port day it gets very crowded. Someone can help with lounge rental prices… Have you researched the beaches of STT on this forum?
  20. C-Leg5’s advice is spot on, as is crewsweeper’s… Enjoy your visit safely (no scooter), and if drinking definitely hire a driver. When driving we’ve never had a problem stopping at our favorite spots on the east side. Parking in San Miguel can be more of a challenge, but I cannot imagine being on a moped, especially with thousands of other day visitors, some driving here for the first time…
  21. It’s subjective of course, but we’re not cold water fans and have only rarely found the Caribbean to be a bit too cool in the winter months. Now our pool is another story until March! 🥶
  22. The biggest differences in departing from any of the FL ports and SJU is 1) you are in SJU. You can enjoy a few days before and/or after your cruise exploring the beautiful island, and 2) As you mentioned, you can access more of the southern Carib destinations than you can from an equivalent-length cruise from FL. For those who have the ability and time to extend their time in the Carib a few days to a week, both San Juan and other Carib spots like Barbados and SXM are great departing options!
  23. No worries! 😄 I know many folks get confused between St John’s, Antigua, and the island of St John…
  24. Yes Coz is once again one of THE busiest Carib cruise ports and it is crazy busy! It’s probably becoming impossible for cruisers to find even a moderately busy beach on the busiest port days with 7+ ships in…
  25. I am confused…There is no “Tortola St Johns BVI” that I am aware of? Are you thinking of St John, USVI perhaps?
