  1. " What I don't understand is why there are 10 places in Canada "??? You do realize that Canada is physically the same distance border to border as the USA so having 10 places is equal to the USA having 1 for every 5 states. It means most people travel quite a distance for an appointment.

As a Canadian I can confirm that although the locations have a Canadian address the interview is with the US folks. We have renewed twice. Nice our interview was in Toronto at the airport. The second at a ground crossing on the US side. At many Canadian airports you clear US immigration before you fly. That's why locations in Canada show up.

I realize Canada is a large country however I thought the global entry was a US border and customs program. I would have expected the majority of the interview sites to be within the United States.

  2. We're in a similar situation coming into Brooklyn Sept. 24 after the Regal transatlantic. Here's what we've come up with:

There is a place named Schwartz Luggage Storage in midtown Manhattan (kind of near Times Square). There may be more than one location. Here's the site:

    http://www.schwartztravel.com/locations.html

We're thinking about taking a cab there, stashing the bags at Schwartz for a couple of hours while we explore Times Square or Rockefeller Center, then grab the bags and a cab to LGA.

Be aware that it could take longer for the ship to clear customs as it is returning to the US for the first time after an extended stint overseas. This could eat into your touring time. I know there have been delays in Lauderdale after TAs

  3. There is no right or wrong answer, as we all have different wants and needs. As for me, I would take the upsell. On this particular itinerary, I don't think that the larger balcony outweighs the addition of the sofa sitting area (or bathtub.) On port days, you will be off the ship. On sea days, (10/23 and 10/26), there won't be any scenery to see from the balcony, and it could be pretty chilly and/or rainy. While one never can be certain in advance, I would hedge my bet that I might want a small but usable balcony and a sofa as my seating options instead of large balcony and the edge of the bed. Plus, my wife is pretty insistent on having a bathtub on any trip longer than 2 days. But I concede that this is purely idiosyncratic.

But, as a deluxe obstructed, this does have a couch! I wouldn't have taken the upsell either (unless it was to one of the minis right at the front). Those cabins on the royal and regal are our absolute favorites!

  4. Do I need to wait until I am onboard to ask that? I have looked through everything in my account on Princess and it doesn't say anything about when we can disembark. Thank you!

Probably. Thinking about arrivals in ft lauderdale, even if we dock at 6, they don't start disembarking for a bit, plus will you have customs to clear? Not sure they will turn up too early......you could try asking on a roll call for an upcoming cruise for someone to report back or hopefully someone who has recently ended a cruise in Athens will chime in.

What is the earliest flight you could book (if you were flying) in EZAir? That's a good indication -

  5. Hi,

We are new to cruising & have booked with Royal Princess for next Sept to celebrate our Sliver Wedding Anniversary. Originally we booked a balcony cabin on Riviera Deck 14, we have just been given an upgrade to a mini suite (A415) on Aloha Deck 12 for an slight extra charge, which is fabulous! I just have some concerns about the cabin as I have read some comments about it being directly under The Skywalk? There is a video on YouTube showing that passengers are able to look down directly onto those balconies & into the rooms! Another comment that I read says that it is lit up bright blue underneath all night & this shines into the rooms? & lastly would it have an obstructed view? my main concern is the privacy issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

People generally walk across the skywalk once, they don't stop and stand around looking into the balconies. As the poster above noted, they might see you on your balcony and give a friendly wave, but they won't be standing and staring. My mom had one and we never noticed anyone. She too enjoyed the blue lighting and didn't find it to be an issue

  6. Does anyone really have a clear idea of what is in a knockwurst? I love eating them but have no idea really what it is.

So, because I was curious, I googled:

A knockwurst, also spelled knackwurst, is a sausage made from all beef and flavored with garlic.

Knockwursts are usually short and stubby. They are sometimes smoked. A knockwurst is cooked by heating it in hot water. Traditionally, a knockwurst is served with sauerkraut and hot potato salad. The German word "knack" means "snap." The original name "knackwurst" refers to the juicy "snap" made by the special, natural casing when the sausage is bitten. The vowel was changed to an "O" for the American market.

  7. Just to clarify we booked our cruise through a UK travel agent and we booked a room with a balcony on the Caribe deck near the front (what I call the pointy end) 😁

We have looked on the website but there still some questions

1 the all inclusive drinks packages are very expensive, can you carry wine onto the boat to drink in the room? Yes - one per adult. Additional bottles may be brought by paying a corkage fee

2 how many formal nights do have to do?Number of nights depends on length of cruise

3 what is the dress code for the formal nights for both men and women.Recommended is jacket and tie for men, dressy outfit for women

These are just few questions ...... so far lol

A lot of what you want to know can be found here: http://www.princess.com/learn/faq_answer/pre_cruise/prepare.jsp

I've given brief answers above, but highly recommend you start by reading the link I shared. It answers the basics.

    Enjoy and congratulations!

  8. Check the price for flying from BUF to FLL and back in February. Instead of $89.00, it's closer to $890.00!!!!!! All airlines are charging about the same.

That's nuts. Keep checking though. About 3 months out is supposed to be the sweet spot for domestic flights. I check every Tuesday afternoon.

  9. Yep! We normally drive to Florida for our Dec trip but timing didn't work out this time. The weather can be crazy! Last year we were driving along the Erie shore in a blizzard, took the turn towards Buffalo and had blue sky!!

Some of the deals on Southwest lately have been crazy good. $89 to fly from fll to buf is nuts!

  10. Being Canadian, but living close to the US border, flying from the states is often a cheaper option.

In the past, to book EZAir from the states on a Canadian booking, you had to call and have them change your departure city to wherever in the US you wanted it to be.

Today, I was looking for flights for an upcoming cruise and noticed that it gave me the US airports close to me as an option. This makes things so much easier and allowed me to book the flights I wanted from the US with all the protections EZAir provides and in Canadian funds.

We are flying in the day of the cruise due to work commitments and wanted to book through Princess in case there are weather issues (February flying from Buffalo....)

Glad to see that Princess IT has made a positive change to the site.

  11. It is possible, however it requires prior approval from Princess. You are requesting a route deviation. A couple of thoughts - is Dublin a port that is often missed? What will the plan be if the ship cannot dock? You have already noted that you will pay the full fare.

We did this on a cruise last year that departed Southampton - we joined the next day in Amsterdam. You may get various answers....I know someone on the same cruise who asked about joining in Amsterdam and was told absolutely not possible and was also told that no one was joining there.

The process was quite simple when we arrived, and our bags were put through the regular scanner they use when folks return to the ship.

If you get someone who isn't familiar with what you are asking, request a supervisor or call back.

    Good luck!

  12. Come the revolution, Princess will provide Bumble & bumble products. To the ramparts, mes amis! We must not falter in the face of injustice and adversity! (Sorry, I was reading Victor Hugo earlier . . . )

This had me laughing out loud at my desk....just saw Les Mis in London and my daughter is currently reading it and walking around singing the soundtrack....

  13. So I misread what you were trying to do. There is no benefit to having Princess convert your charges - the Amex rate is better.

However, as you are Canadian, have you looked into pre-buying your OBC? The exchange rate will be the rate in effect when you booked your cruise. So, if you booked awhile ago, you might be able to buy it at 20%. Right now, the rate is 30% which may or may not be better than the bank rate when you sail.

Regardless, you will not be ahead of the game if Princess does the conversion for you (which Amex does not allow anyway)

  14. My husband and his friends golfed cozumel on an excursion a few years ago. Said it was very hot, the iguanas were the size of small gators and that the course was hard and wet - they lost a lot of balls. Overall they said they were glad they'd done it once but were in no rush to do it again.
