  1. If Port Everglades is undamaged and cruises are sailing, the majority of the islands will be doing everything they can to clean and open up for tourists. Why? They need the cash the tourists bring as in many cases it is a large part of their economy.

Think back to Dominica - their infrastructure was badly damaged by a hurricane 2 or 3 years ago. They did everything they could to welcome tourists back quickly. That being said, I recognize that the damage this time around is much worse so what is possible for the islands could be quite different.

My personal view is that if they are open and welcoming visitors, we should go and support them.

Just my view. Everyone needs to make their own decisions and do what they are comfortable with.

  2. When we did this trip, we took the train from Anchorage and arrived with plenty of time to do the glacier tour before we boarded the ship. They time their tours to the train arrival. When we got back we still had time to wander around "town"

  3. I wish I had to sit and wait. (Actually I also hate sitting in airports but there are extenuating circumstances this time.) Delta moved my flight to 11:15 AM with no option to change it. It's going to be crazy getting there in time to make the flight. We plan to be in the first group of walk-off passengers schlepping our own luggage and either snagging the first taxi we see or have an Uber driver setup to meet us. I don't like it but that's how things are so we will do our best to make it work.

I had always thought that airlines would change your flight if the new time no longer worked with your travel plans - plus when I've flown Delta I've been given the option to change flights for free when the change is more than an hour. Or is your issue that there are no flights to change to?

  4. Does anyone know if the Coral offers at ship's tour? And at what price.

If you are referring to a tour of the ship while sailing, most offer the ultimate ship tour for $150 - very comprehensive behind the scenes look at a variety of shipboard locations - bridge, engine control, laundry, galley, theatre, etc. You also receive a plush robe, apron, photos of the tour and personalized stationary. If intersted sign up right when you board at guest services

  5. Hello all, I have a question...I guess a few questions....

We are going on the Coral in Feb 2018 (only 194 days away!!!) doing a full transit of the Panama Canal. Ports are as follows:

    Oranjestad, Aruba

    Cartagena, Columbia

    Puntarenas, Costa Rica

    San Juan Del Sur, Nicaragua

    Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

Are there any MUST do's in these ports? What not to miss.

Are there any where it is necessary to do an excursion. (eg. if there is nothing to do at the port area then we would need to do an excursion)

Are there any ports that are good to just walk around?

Any beaches where we don't have to pay to go to? Close to the port?

Thanks for taking the time to respond.

Welcome - excellent choice for a first princess cruise! Come and join our roll call here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2359238

  6. The first two or three cabins on the side of the marina deck are considered obstructed as they have a metal not glass railing. That is the only obstruction. There are a couple (including M119 which I've sailed in) that used to be considered obstructed as they were to have the metal railing but ended up without it during the build. I believe its now only the first two cabins on each side at the front that are priced as obstructed on Marina

  7. Our itinerary has us docking at Villefranche, France all day, but the Princess excursion website shows no excursions offered for this port even though the ship will be there for 10 hours. Any thoughts if Princess will offer any excursions once our sailing date arrives? Called Princess and they said they don't know???

It is very easy to take the train to Nice from Villefranche. The train station is across from where the tenders dock. If you like history, a private tour to Eze is worthwhile (hard to do on your own due to the location) I agree with checking your CC rollcall and seeing what others have planned. Enjoy - Villefranche and the surrounding area are lovely.

  8. Decided to wait and check payment did not go through on my card. Have time to try again if I want but reluctant now to pay upfont

It is a common problem. I have yet to be able to pay online on their site - declined every time. My card issuer never has a record of an attempt. I simply just call now.

  9. The Princess website indicates there is a limit on the number of drinks one can get in a day under their Sip and Sale promotion but does not say what that limit is.

What number of drinks is allowed per day?

If one chooses a bottle of wine with the 40% discount, does this count as one of the allowed drinks off the limit?

First, the limit is only on the alcoholic drinks not all drinks, so water, coffee etc don't count. I have seen folks mention 15 or 16 as the limit.

  10. Thank you all for your help. magandy the pictures were helpful. Wouldn't you know my cabin is one of the few that doesn't have pictures. What's up with that!!

Be sure to take a couple of photos while you are on board and send them to Theo! He'll be able to update the site for the next person that sails in that cabin!

  11. So I tried to jump on this offer, however spoke to Princess and they insist the deal is only applicable for bookings made between June 28 and July 5. Since I booked in May, I would need to cancel and rebook (I too have the sip and sail promotion). However I also booked under the $1 deposit, and if I cancelled to rebook I would need to pay the higher deposit. Given I have Med 4 cruises booked (still trying to decide which one to take), I don't really want to have to change the deposit. If we knew which one to settle on, I think it would be a no brainer.

Good luck to everyone else - thanks to jenng1976 for posting the promotion.

Try again - I booked before those dates and had it added. So have others.

  12. Hi

Curious what happens if your EZ Air flight arrives late into your arrival airport prior to embarkation??

    Will Princess have agents there??

    Annie

It depends. A recent EZAir flight into FLL the day before depature was delayed and didn't arrive until 12:45 AM - no Princess person at airport. We took a cab to the airport, and would have been reimbursed the cost had we had a receipt. They did call to tell us that due to the delay they wouldn't be there, but unfortunately, left the message on our home phone....

  13. Not always. They've been stopping that practice on our last 3 cruises & now come "marked". Not a big deal since we only use the cards for special coffee anyways.

My last cruise they came blank - I made a point of saying I was trading due to having the AIBP.

  14. On most ships I've been on lately, they say 'no electronic devices' at the beginning of the game.

On emerald, one team brought a bunch of reference books with them.

    Obviously good sports...

LOL...those "cheap ship prizes" are so worth it.....we always go and play for fun. I love when people accuse us of cheating because we're playing with a teenager and win...really...sign....and then there are the passengers who complain because they can't understand a crewmember's accent.....people, we're all listening to the same person...relax and have fun....how badly do you really need that bottle of "chateau de ship" or that lanyard....

  15. The rate is tied to when you booked your cruise. You will see the ability to buy 25 50 and 100 US (if that is the onboard currency for your cruise) in your personalizer, shown in the currency you booked in. You will need to do some quick math to determine whether it is still a good rate or not. You may buy as much as you need. Take a printout of the confirmation in case there is an issue with it posting to your account. On my recent Ruby cruise, they had just completed some sort of a software update and things were all messed up ( but quickly fixed by the good folks at the PSD)

  16. Thanks all I appreciate. The reality I fly in from Toronto so I'm limited to what CVS at embarkation port provides or what's on board.

90 pe cent of the time I'll be sailing going out of ft lauderdale, the other 10 percent out of NYC.

You might want to look at a transfer from the airport to the port, with a quick grocery stop. The grocery store is a publix. You can do a search on the type of water they carry, find one that meets your needs and make sure they have it for you. Or, if you're flying in the night before, stay at one of the hotels on 17th St - its an easy walk from several of them.

Given that you are from Toronto, I would guess you are used to a Nestle type springwater? If so, you would want to check Zepheryllis as it is local spring water from florida. You need to be careful as many of their waters are in fact purified drinking (which is obviously quite different)
