  1. Going on the Regal and I know scissors and anything sharp are out, but really is nail clippers out of the question? Though I don't see that on the list. How is a woman able to cut her nails if its needed?

You can take scissors (small), knitting needles, nail clippers onboard without issue. The rules are not the same as flying.

  2. We have only sailed once before with Princess although we are RCI Diamond plus so not new to cruising. But I don't understand what people are saying about the mini bar. Are the mini bar contents free and then you pay for any refills? Any info about the mini bars would be appreciated. I am planning on getting a coffee card.

The free mini bar is for elite and suite passengers. If you are either of those you can trade the whole mini bar for 2 coffee cards. Otherwise, the contents of the cabin fridge (usually a couple of sodas and waters) cost if consumed

  3. Hi all, does anyone know if it's possible and more to the point worth it for us brits to pre pay for OBC on Princess? Any comments welcome.

It all depends whether you booked your cruise pre or post BREXIT. If pre, then the rate at which you can purchase OBC will be quite good. The way to check this is to log onto your personalizer. There, you can see a place to buy the OBC - it will show 3 amounts. These equate to $25, $50 and $100 US. Only the pound amount will show. You can determine the rate from this and whether or not it is worthwhile to pre-buy it.

  4. The only cider I've seen is cans of Strongbow and the only place I've seen it is at the Pub Lunch. There may be other cider available but I'm not aware of it. I can't say for sure but I don't think they will trade your beer for cider. If you are lucky I am wrong. (It wouldn't be the first time and definitely won't be the last.)

Thanks thrak. You can get Strongbow at nearly every bar now. My husband can't drink beer so that's his beverage of choice. Will try on our upcoming Ruby cruise and see what happens. If not, there's always happy hour!

  5. If you want to get on an early tender take your whole party to the meeting place for tenders (usually a dining room) before they have announced the ship has cleared. The princess tours have priority and the first few tenders will have a small number of seats for non-excursion passengers. We didn't do this on a recent sailing and missed an excursion. We did do this on our last trip and were on the first tender.

Princess does not care if you have an independent excursion to meet - tender tickets are first come first serve.

  6. I knew I'd read it somewhere. From the Princess FAQs:

PASSPORT REQUIREMENT WHEN MINORS TRAVEL WITH ONE ADULT ON VOYAGES GOVERNED BY THE U.S. WESTERN HEMISPHERE TRAVEL INITIATIVE (includes travel within BERMUDA, CANADA, CARIBBEAN, HAWAII, MEXICO, PANAMA CANAL, UNITED STATES) When minors are traveling with only one adult 21 years of age or older, Princess requires that all guests must be in possession of a valid passport. We have implemented this requirement because we want to ensure that your party remains together should an emergency arise that requires one or more in your party to be disembarked in a non-U.S. port. We cannot guarantee that all members of your party will be allowed to disembark with just a WHTI-compliant document or birth certificate. Failure to present a valid passport for all guests traveling together will result in denial of boarding without refund of the of the cruise or cruisetour fare.

  7. I believe that if both parents are travelling and its a closed loop cruise then your BC will be fine (obviously you are aware that in the case of an emergency you could not fly home). However, if only one parent is travelling, then I believe a passport is required.

  8. I was in Roatan in 2003 (before it got commercialized) and had a lovely day in Coxen Hole and then at West Bay Beach (gorgeous). I was so happy to find a cruise that was going back to Roatan, but a couple weeks ago Princess cancelled that port and substituted Costa Maya. :(

I'm really sad, but went online and booked a day at Maya Chan resort. Anyone been there? Did you like it? Hoping to turn lemons into lemonade! :)

Maya Chan rocks. We visit every time were in Costa Maya. Steve, the owner is very responsive and accommodating of any dietary needs.

  9. Be prepared for some harsh replies from some. That being said, the rule is no insurance, no help. However, a call to princess explaining your situation may result in some compassion and an offer to move your cruise. Good luck and best wishes to your husband in his battle.

  10. Due to family issues trying to plan a cruise for over the holidays this year has been a full time job. I finally saw a flicker at the end of this tunnel and called today to book the Regal on 12/29. I am supposedly #16 on the waitlist for the first available inside or balcony cabin.

Should I immediately defect to a HAL (which I've never sailed on) on 12/31 or try and wait it out, hoping for a massive flu outbreak somewhere??

Have you considered the Royal sailing leaving the 30th? It still has space.
