  1. A lot of times the "warm water" version of lobster may be served on ships. Personally, I hate it, but then again I am one of the fortunate ones who live in an area where Maine lobster is plentiful and sometimes relatively cheap.  I do not order in a restaurant or on any cruise.

I can see how others that do not have access to fresh Maine lobster would want to order as it is a delicacy not to be missed.  I hope you all enjoy.

That's exactly what i was going to ask, if we really go for guaranteed could we still book our dining ahead of time, even without a room number, so it seems it is possible. Then I am thinking maybe we have to yield and go for a guaranteed, as i think all the rooms are alike so it probably does not matter what they assign.

After reading MEFlowa's post, the only thing we really care is if we get a dining slot at 9pm every time as my wife gets sleepy at around 10pm. I personally do not want to pay $$$ for a A3 so we might be ending up in a guaranteed A4.

PS Oh my TA is not that great in fact the TAs in my country does not offer any perks or OBC, and it is just causing delays in bookings (also they are not as knowledgeable as the collective wisdom in this forum) so next time I would just book direct and save the hassle.

    Thanks

Just reading this thread.  I am one of those that spends the extra to be able to:

Order from Dining Room Menu for Lunch and Dinner (the menu of the day)

I love the Spa Terrace. Have not been on Vista yet (this Nov) but on Riviera I love the big pool with cascading water and jets. From looking at Vista it looks great with beautiful seating, the pool, hot tubs, loungers. Can't wait!

As for Concierge lounge, unless you like to read newspapers, not much there (have never seen a concierge). They do have some of O's "famous" cookies, coffee. soda but otherwise I do not go there.

Have used the free bags of laundry, most times comes back before the 3 days, but unpressed.

     Priority embarkation, sometimes doesn't matter.

Oceania bag, very nice one now

Change the Champagne for wine if you wish.

Earlier booking at specialties, yes even Guaranteed. You might even get a better category if they cannot honor your Guaranty.

And I actually used the cashmere throw. At first I thought mine to keep.

Everybody has their own opinion and mine is I think it is worth it now where it really wasn't years ago.

Yup. It's a nice idea to view before boarding, but (as far as I can tell) there's no consequence if you do not.

if you do not go to muster station to let them know, you get a letter on your door to report to registration

Disembarked Vista in Monday. Are they obsolete?

There is no paper end of cruise questionnaire. As stated on this board many times and in Currents onboard, this is to be done prior to embarkation online. Instructions are given in currents and on the in room TV. And to be honest not too user friendly and then there is the internet connect issue.

Robert, normally the lounges are available in the staterooms which have an extended balcony but you can have your TA check with O, however I would expect not as the veranda might not be large enough to accommodate one.

If I may suggest some thing else, if you are a light sleeper or easily bothered by ship noises, you might want to take along some ear plugs as you will have some automatic doors above you as well as a restroom. Above you on Deck 12 are the Terrace Cafe and Aquamar Kitchen entrances. We were in a similar room location on Riviera but on the Starboard side and we were under the entrances to the TC and Waves so there was door and food cart noise beginning very early in the a.m.  We have been on Vista a couple times but did not hear complaints about the noise issues we experienced but just be aware.

Yep been there. Took a while for me to figure out the noise.

@cruisemom42  Thank you for a post that is helpful rather than critical!  A breath of fresh air!

We contacted our TA two days ago requesting a FCC for the full cruise just to see what would happen.  He called O for us and that is when we got the response, “It is a hard no.”  We also wrote to C. Ortega and Oceania Public Relations requesting an FCC.  Got no response except an out of office response, nor did we expect  a response.  Not sure what else we can do, but really appreciate the suggestion.

We have not thought to find an alternate booking.  That is a great idea!  We will give that a try.

@Vineyard View yes, thanks.  We will be on the phone with them tomorrow morning.  It is confusing….we use Chase Sapphire to cover things like trip interruptions, cancellations, etc.  their list of benefits is confusing.  On the one hand they say acts of terrorism are covered if they affect your cruise.  There are five different parameters that must be met and this situation meets all of them.  On the other hand, they say acts of war are not covered.  So it is anybody’s guess what that means regarding this conflict which seems to me to be a combination of both.  I’m guessing they will call this an act of war, but will post what we find out.

Thanks to you both for helpful suggestions.  Much appreciated.

Israel has declared war. I too was confused when looking at travel insurance small print. Very sketchy, ultimately, they will probably deny a claim either way. Not really surprised.

Sorry that you had to cancel, and hope your husband is better soon. I faced the same situation in May, when my husband fell and broke his hip two days before we were to leave for Europe, with days in Lisbon, then a Marina cruise Lisbon-Amsterdam, followed by some days in Amsterdam.

I filed our insurance claim in June and received full payment 6 weeks later, at the end of July. It was my first time filing such a claim, and I was quite satisfied at the end, but there were some frustrating moments. Part of our claim were some prepaid expenses made in Euros. I learned that the best way to provide backup for those was to submit copies of the relevant credit card statements, where the expenses are shown in USD and well as in Euros. Perhaps that info will save you some time during the process. Good luck!

That is a very good idea about the credit card statements. After many claims for both my husband and myself, it is important to gather all your info. Make sure to have your TA send you a copy of your itinerary/invoice and notice of cancellation from O. Fortunately, you were not on the trip incurring medical expenses as that can be a nightmare.

Very sorry that you had to miss your trip.

We are booked on the Vista next spring and as we were booked before "Simply More" we are still offered the "House Select" and "Prestige Select" beverage packages.

When I go onto our booking on the website, under the Prestige Select offer, it states: "Unlimited premium spirits, champagne, wine and beer wherever and whenever you wish."

Does this mean we can order room service under the Prestige Select package? We were thinking pre-dinner drinks in our room?

    Many Thanks

yes you may as long as the bars are open.  I did this without a package.

    Ha…..nice try.

Costs such as that are covered by the mandatory SM package we now pay with new bookings.

So, if we have already paid, through mandatory SM, why is a second fee, corkage, also charged ?
As one of this forum’s wine experts recently posted….. by the glass selection is “poor to mediocre at best”.

Where is the incentive to provide better choices ? ( rhetorical ).

Rules are rules.  There is a corkage fee for bottles brought onboard.  Your choice...you pay. regarless of SM or anything else.

That still leaves 6 months outside of hurricane season.  Is it really that hard for a cruise line to avoid?

do you want to sail to bermuda in winter.  Bermuda is 700 miles off the coast of Virginia. It is not in the carribean

    Hi,

I read that on the Vista the soap products are not from Bulgari. Someone ment Aqua di Palma. If it's correct, like feedback from people who have been on Vista. We enjoy Bvlgari, especially the soap. A different luxury brand should also be wonderful

        Thanks 😎🌊

As has been mentioned and you stated the soap is Aqua di Palma
