What a well crafted post.
Many years ago my old dad needed to have his leg amputated at 68. He struggled a bit. Eventually we got him driving and it restored his confidence and independence, a bit. One if my pet hates Is people who park on pavements. Wheel chairs users and parents with buggies need to go into the road. I have even called out spotty youths driving police cars " I suppose picking up you KFC is a good reason.. Sir ". I am very aware of assisting where I can and feel I do my best. So the comment " so you ignore the lanyards then ?" was a bit hurtful. I genuinely didn't know and felt that I was at fault and ignorant...uncaring. Seems it wasn't me. Now I know I can act in an appropriate manner. But perhaps folk who are involved in and use this scheme also need to be aware..not everybody who doesn't jump out of the way is being selfish.
I may have mentioned in passing that I broke a bone in my hand. It hurt and I had it in a strap thing. 5 weeks ago. They said remove the strap after 4 weeks. It will heal in 6-8 weeks....Thank you all for your sympathy. I took the straps of last week. It's doing OK, still a bit tender, but OK. During those 4 weeks......If anybody got within 2 metres. ...mind me flipping hand!....If I had relied on a flowered lanyard, I doubt that would have had the same effect.🤣
Looks a bit like my stomach xray. I like the RC ships. When we join in Barcelona, or Civitaveccia get on any time after 11.00am. Graham is Double Diamond, so first on the flowrider. Off at 10.00 in Southampton and Greggs for Lunch.
When people get in a lift is it usual to look at any card hanging down on somebody's chest?. In my experience they look at the floor numbers moving up and down, or stare straight ahead. Anyway, we all know now. Any other coloured lanyards I should know about ?.🤣
Some big shops are closing on Boxing day. I imagine the supermarkets will be rammed on Saturday. Everyone needs to get all the extra supplies in for.....2 days.🤔
Is that the fault of the people who don't know, or the organisations who promote them. Now I know I will watch out, but don't blame people who don't know what something is. If ,as you say, many people don't know perhaps the promotion is lacking.
I didn't know they even existed. Many folk have lanyards with the cruise cards on them. I don't go around looking at what is hanging around folks necks.
We went into Wetherspoons for lunch on Saturday. There was a pile of bags and cases and about 30 young folk. ...sorry are they in the way..a couple were moved so we could get into a table....where are you guys off to ? Skiing for Christmas ?. No we are off base for Christmas leave. We will stay in here until they chuck us out. then some will go on holiday and some will go home. I pointed out that they could get a good services discount on P&O. Aurora and Arcadia were quite good. Cheers mate...hey lads, anybody fancy a cruise...you have to help our service folk.
Tell them you paid less and are serpentine in the status game. On RC an American gent asked me what level I was in Crown and Anchor. I just opened my " tux " and flashed the C&A lable.
We walked to Santiago. Didn't get the Camino badge as we only walked from the coach park. We ate the Cake last Christmas. Marks and flipping Spencer this year.
We are in no rush to get off. Nice leisurely breakfast, down to the baggage hall as late as we can, easy to spot the cases, car park getting empty. Home in an hour. Let All the self disembarked get off about 6.00am. They have busy things to do in their busy lives. Let us sloths have a little more space.
