  1. There was at one time a person who posted about how she got upgrades by using a blue light when she checked out the room. She was eventually banned.

We have also sailed with people who brag about getting perks for complaining.

One wrote a long letter about a speciality restaurant experience, was invited back for a free meal and then did not even leave a tip… classy.

Celebrity records passenger complaints and resolution on the passenger's profile. They too look for patterns.

Arno, I remember that woman's posts very well. Boasting on CC about your complaint antics, deserves consequences

I have never understood the "complaint" mentallity. If an issue needs to be corrected, a simple thank you and a smile is all that should be expected in return.

  2. Well I am one that is grateful for the Elite Plus benefits. We've cruised with Celebrity since 1999, and at that time there wasn't much of a Loyality program. This didn't deter us in any way. We stay with Celebrity for the ambiance of the ships, and our selected itineraries.

I do like the additional internet minutes, and the added espresso, latte drinks.

For those of you that were expecting additional perks from Celebrity...maybe your expectations were a bit high.

  3. I doubt people are booking suites for reward points. The price difference is too great. Most people would book suites for the size of the cabin and the service. I can see why some would book Concierge if the price was close.

Completely agree with you. Suites are usually booked for their size.

  4. We've stayed in #2219, and really enjoyed it. Our friends had #2221 and we had the Butler open the divider on the balcony for us, to create a larger space.

We did hear some chair scraping from the above deck, but nothing to keep us awake. The shaded over-hang was also a plus. We usually had our breakfast on the balcony daily. And the views....to die for!

  5. Simply asked for beverages to be iced for when we returned to our cabin after excursions. Did not happen. Not once but twice. We tried to call him. Left message to contact us. Did not.

After second time and no response DH took ice bucket up to cafe and filled it with ice himself. And did so every day thereafter.

I may be way off base here...but have you ever given it a thought that YOU may be the common denominator regarding your negative experiences with Butlers?

We've had Butlers on previous cruises, and will again next week on Equinox, and in advance I know full well, that EVERYTHING won't be perfect. But then again...I don't expect perfection.

It's unfortunate that your cruising experiences on Celebrity has left you with a negative slant towards Suite dwelling.

  6. Maggie, we're on the Equinox cruise with you next week, and there are some of us that will meet that criteria. I wonder if Celebrity will implement it only that particular cruise, or will give this new program some time to see if it's worth-while.

  7. Also on that cruise and it was indeed one of the very best. I stayed for the May 6th cruise and learned that our TA was the highest rated in company history with 280 points. The RM told me that nobody rated the food as poor and only 4 as fair. The vast majority said the food was "excellent". The CD told me that this was one of his best experiences. Found the passengers to be really outstanding. The people make the cruise and this was a wonderful group of cruisers.

We too were on that TA, and I agree, the food was outstanding in the MDR and also the Speciality Restaurants. That cruise was as near perfect as I can remember. We had a wonderful voyage.
