  1. To use your car comparison, yes, until you drive away, you'd probably insist on a lower price if you saw it advertised on tv or if a friend said they paid x price.

Many consumer purchases are even price protected after you use the product. Many retail stores price protect for 30 or 60 or 90 days after you drive away with the product.

It's just an opinion. It doesn't have to make you mad or say people make you sick. It is two different ways of looking at price protection or consumer purchasing. Many people see it differently.

  2. Really? Make you sick? You are certainly entitled to a different opinion but do you really have to say that hard- working people who are upset when they see a better price than you paid " make you sick"? Geesh.

Edited to add: response was to garycarla

  3. I am a TA and over the past year, about 80% of my NCL clients have had price drops after final deposit. Over the past three months, it has happened to every single one of them. Seems to be happening much more lately especially out of the NY market.

So, I don't have actual stats but it is my sense with NCL. Seems to happen much less often with DCL for example.

  4. Actually many airlines will offer you a credit for future travel for a fare difference in the full amount of the price difference.

It isn't entitlement- it is a basic consumer offering called price protection. Many, many things you buy are price- protected. Even many elements of the travel industry are price- protected- other cruiselines offer price protection, many land, all- inclusive packages offer it, even many airlines (some don't advertise it). Makes you comfortable to buy a large- ticket item. And, no the benefit is to the consumer- it doesn't work in reverse where you pay more if the item increases.

It isn't some crazy thing people are getting upset over. People have a right to be upset and I think with some possible over saturation in the cruise market, as it gets harder to fill ships and the competition increases, the lines may want to look at this as a way to stand out from the crowd. The more NCL hears the feedback, the greater the possibility that things might swing in favor of the consumer.

  5. Nah, it isn't that simple. You don't have to just endure and be happy anyway. We spend our hard- earned $ to go on vacation and not having a price- drop policy that is favorable to consumers is painful to most. If enough of us complain and it starts to hurt NCL where it matters, perhaps policy can become more consumer- friendly.

  6. Call and ask them to do something. Upgrade or OBC. Ask for a supervisor if you don't get anywhere.

This is more than "sometimes they run a last minute sale". It is happening left and right to a majority of people who book. It is turning clients away from NCL or, if they stick with NCL, they now aren't going to book until 2-3 weeks out. Neither is what NCL wants, so they should address this ever-growing problem head-on.

  7. No picture but it had hamburger/ cheeseburger, hot dog, chicken nuggets, grilled chicken, pasta with sauce or butter, grilled cheese, pub&pjs, chicken noodle soup, fruit, fries, a few veggie sides. They can also always order something off the main menu which had things like steak, chicken, salmon on the everyday menu plus lots of specials. I can't imagine between both menus that there would ever be an issue of a kid not finding something to eat.

  8. We'll, of course you needed original birth certificates. For a child, original BC or a passport is a customs requirement to leave/enter the country. That has nothing to do with bringing a minor not your own.

In addition to proper citizenship documentation, when traveling with a minor who is not your own, you need to complete NCL's minor form. If you read it, you will know it requires the signatures of both parents along with a copy of the parents' IDs. Nothing else is required. However, as an extra precaution, I usually also bring a note signed by both parents, stating dates of travel, modes of travel & granting me permission to make all decisions on child's behalf.

In the 6 or 7 cruises I have taken nephew on (who has a different last name from both me & my husband), only Disney has ever even asked for their minor authorization form. NCL has never even asked to look at it even upon a Europe cruise.

  9. That is overkill. Anyone could be traveling with a child so there is never a need for " proof of relationship". The NCL form and requirements is what you'll need for the cruise. They will barely look at it. When I travel with my nephew, I also usually bring a letter signed by both of his parents stating that I am taking him from x date to x date, where we are going and that I have permission to make any and all medical and other decisions on his behalf.

  10. If you haven't made final payment, it is possible to get a full refund and usually fairly easy to adjust to any new pricing released. After final payment, if the price drops, they will usually try to make up the difference first by offering an upgrade. If no upgrade, they will generally offer 25-50% of the difference in price in OBC.

  11. We were really obsessed with the tickets vs 3 day passes but , in the end, we were really glad to have the passes. We wound up wanting to go back and forth more than we thought and we made some extra beach stops that we would have been counting tickets over. Just get the 2 or the 3 day passes. It is only a little extra money and it isn't worth the stress or time of trying to find the ticket books in Hamilton and then rationing them out.

  12. You board on deck 7.

The laundry bag was on Thursday.

There are a few pics of menus in my review but I can tell you that none oft he drink prices increased since the change to UBP and almost everything I had, including all of the speciality martinis was included.

The shop had various liquor specials throughout the cruise. There were jewelry sets on sale and a large % off watches on the last sea day. However, it was so crowded, it was impossible to enjoy shopping.

  13. Such fun.w e have traveled extensively with just DH, me and our nephew ( no 15). It has been a great experience for all of us. He has been on a number of cruises and loved them all especially as he's become a teenager.

We have a 7 yr old niece and planning to do solo trips with her as well. So far, all her trips have involved nephew as well but she needs some alone time as well.

  14. Ships like BA to Bermuda in June have seen pricing dropping steeply 30 days and then 14 or so days before sailing. Unless it is a holiday week and/ or you are very particular about cabin type/ location, there is no rush to book this. Once the new RCCL ship starts to also sail out of NY in November! I also suspect we'll see even further price drops with the increased competition especially in that "family" market.

  15. No Haven specials. GOLD gets standard % off but only on "Signature" = most expensive treatments while in port. Almost every day they had a $99 pick 2 or 3 special (pick hand massage, neck massage, foot massage, mini-facial) which basically amounted to a 50 minute treatment for $99. We were also offered an extra 15 minutes added to the regular 50 minute massage if we booked early am appointments or "filled in" someone's schedule. So, they are doing free few minutes chair massages to drum up business- if your person had a certain slot(s) unfilled that day, she was able to offer extra minutes or 10% off for those slots.
