  1. Hi all.

Trying to book a hotel near Port Everglades for 1 night pre-cruise, 21 Apr 2018. Prices at most of our favorites are almost double what we normally pay. Did a search, and could not find any special event that would explain the high prices. Any info on the reason for the high prices? Thanks!

I would think all of April would be considered Spring Break, maybe that's the reason.

  2. looking for current and first hand experience recommendations for 4 adults transfer (perhaps car service) from port to lax. Flight time is noon. Thanks

Traffic getting into LAX really really really bad !!!! Can't stress that enough any time of day, so be sure you allow extra time .

  3. I agree with everyone, do your own booking for reasons stated.

We cruise out of Miami next month and some suggested hotels are Hampton Inn & Suites Miami/ Brickell, Homewood Suites downtown/Brickell, Marriott Biscayne Bay and Kimpton Epic hotel. all good location and different price points. Good luck.

  4. What a freaking nice day3ae3e52e9026694a1321f2215da79f19.jpg35ae209c22fbcff2ad7c32273d4aaa0d.jpg436510620a21d0bacd915bd9f8ad67ae.jpgb5f8deac6a959773a6dd1494ca739d7f.jpg84fc90fb4d0ce2d81a6ba7c55ea202da.jpga2d4b3655f659b18b068b926e456a3da.jpg

Thank you so much for your daily review. We sail September 15 , 2017 on the Equinox, but different itinerary. We will go to Costa Maya next April on Equinox Jazz Cruise and would like info on Tropicante. Do we reserve ahead, any details would be helpful.

  5. They have them all during the day, different times. On at least one or two nights they also have one, and I love those.

They run two hours and each of the three artisans makes a piece, assisted by one of the others and narrated by the third. I've seen probably 50 shows. I love it. Never the same. I won a large bowl after one of the shows during their raffles.

Sometimes 11-1, 1-3, 3-5 and evening 8-10, although never more than two a day. I don't recall any during port, but have been to a couple at sailaway. Hope that helps.

The printed schedule will tell you.

    Thank you so much !

  6. Enjoying your review. Anticipating my 2 nd Equinox cruise this year beginning on September 15. I celebrated my birthday on Equinox in May and am returning to celebrate our anniversary in September. Your posts are showing everything I love about cruising on Celebrity. BTW, who is the current CC host and current CD?

We too are on the September 15 sailing and also Jazz Fest cruise April 2018. We haven't done Caribbean cruise in at least 20 years, but have been on Equinox for Europe sailings. We love the Solstice class ships.

I month from today, fun in the sun !

  7. Yes, we are also going on that cruise, check the roll call Helen referred to, lots of people on there. Go to one of the last pages and there is a spread sheet with everyone who has signed up, I'm sure you will find people from Ca.

We are from San Ramon, CA and we are on that sailing. We are signed on to the roll call and also the Meet & Mingle for that cruise. Welcome to this sailing and as previous post make sure to check out our roll call.

  8. I was looking around the Curacao tourist website (www.curacao.com) and found this map when searching for the ship schedules:

    http://www.curports.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/Cruise-Map-Downtown.pdf

It's only one page and easier to print and carry around. I did like the architectural map previously posted for the history and description of the buildings. I'm wondering if I could get one sent to me. We don't cruise until December, so have plenty of time.

    Ditto, great maps!

  9. Truly have been thinking about you the past few days. A friend asked me about touring Dublin, etc. and I shared with her the wonderful day we all had together.

Unfortunately, we will not cross paths on the cruises you have booked. We are off on the Eclipse for the Baltic cruise on August 13. Then, Australis/New Zealand Feb.3/2018 on the Solstice.

Hope all is well with you. Would love to travel with both of you again. Great memories.

So nice to catch up on what you all are doing. We may be in your neck of the woods at the end of our September cruise. We plan to rent a car and do a little road trip and end up in Virginia. Still trying to put it all together. We did a Baltic cruise several years ago and loved it, especially St Petersburg and Estonia.

We are also looking to go back to Europe in the fall of 2018.

Hope everything is well with you two.

    Wilma & Gary

  10. So nice to see Silhouetters still so active. Just thinking about last years cruise with all of you and the wonderful memories.

    Congratulations Kathleen on your retirement.

We recently signed up for 10 day Caribbean cruise on the Equinox for September,2017 and also Equinox Jazz Fest cruise in April 2018, hope to see some of you there.

  11. Great ship and a great cruise! Did it last year and really enjoyed it.

Here´s a detailed review with tips, tour operators etc. Let it be a teaser for your cruise...

If we can help with any more information let us know!

Thank you for the wonderful review and photos. It brought back memories of our favorite ports. We want to do Celebrity Europe cruise next year and the Constellation goes to our favorite ports but afraid we might be disappointed in the ship after sailing on the Solstice class, but you photos may have put those to rest..

  12. I think it would be fun to read about various Select Dining experiences such as:

    1. "Select Dining" cruisers who chose a large table the first night of their cruise and really liked the people they met so much that they decided to dine together for other nights of the cruise.

    2. "Select Dining" cruisers who got along well with just a few of their table mates and asked them to dine together on future nights.

    3. Cruisers who were invited to dine at future dinners with the people they were seated with the first night of Select Dining, but decided they definitely didn't want to do that since they didn't feel compatible with them.

When we had assigned dining years ago we met some great people and enjoyed nightly dinners together. However, we had some really awful experiences with a few people on other assigned dining tables so decided Select Dining was best for us.

We too ask for table for 2, they are close together so you can still talk to people on either side of you if you wish.

  13. I did do a search so hopefully this isn't a double post. When I did my first cruise ever it was on the Oasis and they had a great thread on things not to miss, hidden treasures (e.g. hidden balconies for sail aways etc), tricks about what to bring, what to ask for (e.g.robes as soon as you board) - hoping we can start something here.... great for us newbies! I'm also new to Europe cruising, we are doing the October 22nd 14 day Israel and Med sailing, so any advice in regards to what to pack, what not to miss would be great! Thanks to all in advance.

We love Silhouette mostly because of the staterooms on Solstice class ships. We are usually in concierge, we like the footstools on the balcony and the location of the rooms. There is wonderful extra storage above the bed, we put all our tops and tees folded up there. It is the width of the bed. In the bathroom there is a long cabinet, I usually bring some small baskets I get a dollar store to put all the little toiletries etc. in keeps everything organized and I just toss them at end of cruise. shower is also larger than most ships we have been on. I think the balcony rooms have all these thing too except for footstool. food a little better than average but then they are feeding a whole lot of people.

  14. alright - so 78 views of people who either would like to see some tips or tricks or people who can give tips or tricks - either way, I think the thread can be helpful - is there nothing on the S-Ship class that people who haven't sailed before on them wouldn't find helpful? Thanks to all in advance!

We are just about to have dinner, I will give you some tips later this evening. I am sure you will get a lot of input. We are about to sail on Silhouette for the third time, we love her.
