  1. I've come to the conclusion after sailing out of Tampa several times that it doesn't much matter if your flight is scheduled for 11:00 or 2:00, you are still likely going to miss it if there is fog.

It seems as though most of the time that there is fog the ship doesn't get in until between noon and 4:00, so you'd probably need to have a very late flight to make it.

First time cruising out of Tampa. Luckily we gave ourselves a few days to get back. I'm checking with my credit card company to see what my travel protection benefits are. It wouldn't be too terrible to be in Tampa another day.

And yes, it is the Buckeye Cruise. I hate the Buckeyes and all they stand for, but even I feel bad for the folks on the ship.

  2. Like with most things, I think it's easier to post a negative review than it is a good one. Are you more likely to contact a company/business if you had a bad experience or a good one? I know I'm guilty of it. I posted a thread about how I was switched from the MDR to MTD. OMG! The travesty. Most of these things are "first world problems" but people spend their hard earned money on cruises and I guess expect certain things and that's fair. I just chuckle about what most people worry about. I choose to look at most of these threads as entertainment. :)

  3. Thanks! I'm excited! But it's her own fault that she can't go. All she had to do was ride into town and get another drivers license since she lost it. Crazy! If anyone offers me a free cruise, I wouldn't hesitate at all!

My passport expires in December. I'm already freaking out about how I'm going to renew it. If I lost my license, I'd be at the DMV the next day.

I'm happy to take her place next time you want to take someone on a free cruise. I'm very responsible! :D

  4. A friend of mine is on the ship and she said they skipped KW and Coco...the reason for missing KW was, according to her, high winds...

They wound up only getting to Nassau

    .

I would be really bummed! Key West and Coco Cay are the reasons I take Majesty. (Well, since it's 5 degrees here, I would probably get over it after a few drinks :D ).

  5. Glad that worked out (except not glad for your sister).

I have had great customer service for my upcoming cruise. There was one snafu, and they fixed it right away. I've actually had very good customer service except for one specific incident a few years ago. Sometimes it's hard to get someone to talk to, but when i do, I get what I need quickly.

    Enjoy your cruise!

  6. Shame I am not on that ship right now. I'd have the smuggest of smug grins on my face all week long.

I imagine that's what the whole ship is like.

I was on a cruise a few years ago and had a maize "HAIL" shirt on. A drunk Buckeye fan (a young woman) walked past me and started yelling some of the foulest things I've ever heard in my life. She then asked me if I wanted to fight (I hadn't said anything to her). Her boyfriend/husband had to hold her back.

    I love this rivalry. :)

  7. Also cigarettes were significantly cheaper than the ship was but don't remember the cost. A 2-carton pkg of Marlboro Lights was around $70 on the ship....want to say $50 @ the PM shop. I was getting them for someone else and she was very happy with the "value". Yeh I know, we won't even GO there! :)

Ha! When my ex-BF and I used to cruise, he would stock up on cigarettes because of the "great deals"! I just smiled and nodded. :D

    Thanks for the tips everyone!

  8. We will be in Cozumel in March and docked at the International Terminal. We are going to Papito's for the day, but I want to do a little shopping before we get back on the ship. I'm thinking of having the cab drop us off at Puerta Maya on the way back, as I understand it is not too long of a walk from there to the International Terminal (I am choosing Puerta Maya instead of "downtown" because downtown is farther and we may not have a lot of time).

What kind of shopping is there at Puerta Maya? Is there somewhere to buy perfume? Is the Los Cinco Soles any good?

    Thanks!

  9. I wondered that too. Our Liberty cruise stopped there from 3pm-10pm. It was such weird timing that we didn't really feel like we could do anything. We walked around a little and had a few beers at the pier, then went back on the ship. I wonder if we had been there from like 8am-10pm, or even 8am-6pm, would it have been different? We also had a bad incident with a man trying to con us out of money (we heard from others on the ship who ran into him--and yes, I know, that can happen anywhere). Of course no one forced us off the ship, but when the ship stops somewhere I haven't been, it's nice to be able to explore it. I've heard a lot of great things about San Juan--we just didn't get that from our stop there.

Now don't get me started on Nassau...

  10. When I was on Liberty, we went to the Pub every night. It was a blast. The reason we went there was that at the time of that cruise (2 years ago) it was one of the few places you could smoke and my friends were smokers. So if it still allows smoking and that bothers you, you may not enjoy it as much. Otherwise, they have everything and the bartenders were great.

  11. Interesting...On my last Majesty cruise, the peanut butter cookies were the only ones I could ever find. Peanuts give me migraines, so that's fine with me, but that's interesting. I'm sure there are other foods out there that have some sort of peanuts/peanut exposure.
