Have to agree with Frajilek. We also now book only with a US TA. We have one reservation ongoing with a large UK High St TA. We booked with future cruise desk onboard. We now want to change the booking to a differerent cruise and Celebrity are adamant that if we do that we will forfeit the perks we got for booking onboard. I  am not sure that would be the case if we had booked in the US. My advice to the OP is call Celebrity several times and hope you might get lucky and in future us a US TA.

In the US we wouldn't lose any extra perks we were given for booking onboard - but we might lose the base perks that came as part of the current offer.  These are subject to whatever price and perks are being offered at the time you make your change.

The cubes from dollar tree are not zippered. They fold flat and the top is open. I believe they are 12x12 and 11 inches high

Those are Storage Cubes - not packing cubes.  We use both.  Always pack in eBags packing cubes (which as someone else already pointed out aren't really cubes).

On S class ships we use the Storage Cubes to maximize the usefulness of the over the bed storage.

Thanks again for your response.  Have you sailed many other Kid friendlier cruise lines?   If so how does the kids program compare?  We don’t need all the bells and whistles that the large ships have.  We frequently go on the Grandeur or the Seas with Royal which is a smaller ship with less stuff than the Millenium.  We just need a kids program with decent counselors.

My kids are super social and love the kids programs.   The counselors always remember them even when they change ships and see them on another ship.   That could be a good or bad thing lol...

Sorry - we're pretty much Celebrity cruisers.  My kids are 7 and 8 and we just got off their 9th Celebrity cruise 2 weeks ago.  My 7 year old is VERY social and he LOVES the Fun Factory.  My 8 year old is not so social and doesn't want to go as much as he used to - BUT he always has fun when he does go.  2 weeks ago, there were 2 counselors on the Edge that remembered us from the Silhouette in August.

The nice thing about the Fun Factory is that the program is fairly structured.  Instead of just a big supervised room - they have different activities each day and evening and the staff interact with them.

Thanks!  That is exactly what I was looking for.  I really appreciate it.  Kinda nice they have an all inclusive purchase option for $105.  Do you know if that’s ship dependent?

They call it the VIP package and I don't believe it is ship dependent.  They have had it on all the cruises my kids have been on.

So I can get the first night discount/reservations by booking through the cruise planner?

Sometimes.  For our last cruise, for a period of time the cruise planner included first night reservations at a discount.  Then they went away.  This is completely separate from what you may (or may not) be able to negotiate on board.

  6. Just got off the Edge a week ago with my 7 and 8 year old sons.  They are very experienced Celebrity cruisers - this was #9 for both of them - so they are very familiar with the Fun Factory.

My 7 YO is VERY social and he absolutely loves the Fun Factory.  He wants to go every evening are rarely wants to be picked up early. My 8 YO is less social and not as big a fan.  He generally comes to the shows with us.  The one exception is Pirate Night - which they both look forward to all cruise (face paint and all).  They both had fun at Pirate Night on the Edge - but said it wasn't as good as previous cruises.  They usually have a scavenger hunt around the ship (after getting decked out as pirates) - but said this time they stayed in the FF the whole time.  Same with the family camp out - on a previous S class sailing - they had a camp out on the lawn (just a couple hours early evening - not overnight :-)) complete with smores and hot chocolate.  On the Edge, they just had some tents set up in the FF.  Other than that - it was fairly typical of other cruises.  There are fewer kids and it is more highly structured than on other lines.

Aside from the Fun Factory - the boys participated in some of the non kid specific activities in the club.  They joined the grown ups for the Laser Maze and Archery.  In fact they told my son (and made an announcement) he was the youngest person to ever hit a target in Archery - he was so proud.

They also have non structured activities in Eden.  Coloring, wooden puzzles, etc.  It's no RC, but there are lots of things to do if you want.  We also like to spend time in the cabin watching movies.  I know that will offend some who say we should be out and about on the ship - but we're on vacation and like to do what we like.....

The Edge was beautiful - I'm sure you'll have a great time.

i have seen several people reference the #1 and #3 on the hump as largest balconies.

I assume its 1 and 3 from front,  if you see my image, depending upon what direction you go in.. the #1 and #3 are different.

    Please advise

It is 1st and 3rd off the hump.  So 6215, 6209 6214 and 6210 are the biggest followed by 6211 6207 6212 and 6208.  Same is true on the other side.

  8. I don't think you will be able to know what to expect.  You won't really know until you know.

All i can say is that it is relatively unlikely that you will be "upgraded" from your FV.  I've read of it happening so it could - but it is pretty rare.  You have already done what I would suggest - mark your reservation "No Upgrade".  It is not an guarantee - but at least you have made your wishes known.

Don't fret about it - you will almost certainly be fine.

    Good Luck!

I generally book directly with Celebrity while on a cruise.   After I return home I contact a couple of TA's I work with and ask what they are will to offer to transfer the  bookings.   In addition to what you might get from Celebrity you can expect OBC's and or perks equal to 8-10%.

Remember you can only transfer within 60 days of booking and must be transferred prior to final payment.

This is what I do as well.

I've invariable found that booking with or transferring to a TA offers us more value in the form of either lower cost fare or considerably more perks or, in many cases both.

Totally depends on the TA.  Some full service TAs don't offer any extra perks or better prices, but these can be a good option if you need advice on cruise lines, hep selecting a cabin, hotel reservations, air, suggestions on ports, etc.

We don't use any of that - we do everything on our own, and choose a TA that will offer additional benefits in exchange for our reservation.  It is a win win.  Yes, we are giving up the ability to call Celebrity directly - but this hasn't really been an issue for us, other than the minor inconvenience of having to use a middle man.  And yes, we take frequent advantage of price drops (I would never use a TA that charges fees for changes).  The 8-10% savings each cruise really adds up.

I took the shore ex on the Equinox in May and was disappointed. Even if you go on your own, cost is about $39 pp admission which includes chair, umbrella and open bar and you still have to pay for transportation there and back. I don't think there is an option without the bar. Drinks were ok, nothing special. The water and shore line was loaded with seaweed and the bottom was rocky in many places.

Despite the mediocre reviews here - we're considering Playa Mia next month.  Seems like the best option for our 6 and 8 year olds given the water slide, splash pad, and beach activities.  We don't really care about the food or drinks.

The excursion from Celebrity is basically the same price as booking direct (only $10 more - total for 4).  Wondering though if the Celebrity excursion includes transportation or not (not clear from the comment above)?  This would make it worth it - especially given the ability to cancel.

    Thanks -

I was on the recent Eclipse South America holiday cruise and was able to get blue cheese stuffed olives at the martini bar - I just asked if they were available and they were provided with all of my martinis.  It may be different on different ships and different sailings, but I haven't had issues getting them on previous cruises over the last several years either.

Hmm - I asked a few times (albeit a while ago) and was told they were not available and eventually stopped asking.  Perhaps it's another one of those things that varies from ship to ship (or server to server).  Or maybe its one of those things that went away and came back - like chocolates on the pillow.

    I have.

last year i wanted the blue cheese stuffed olives so i hand carried two small jars through check in, they inspected them, and passed me on.

i got a lot of jealous looks at the martini bar, and the manager even came over with a puzzled look to see where we got them, said he would love to stock them but the cost was prohibitive

    Enjoy

Back in the day (only talking around 5-7 years ago), you could get blue cheese olives.  They didn't stock them, but if you asked for them they would stuff them to order.   These are the kinds of little things I miss on X.

Simply disconnect the ship's HDMI cable and connect your video source to "HDMI IN 3".......The TV is already using HDMI 3 as its video source.  I didn't think to try to see if I could switch to a different video input source by using the television menu buttons.

Silhouette also used HDMI for input.  Sometimes the other HDMI ports are active, sometimes not.  We always bring a small HDMI switch (with extra cables) so we can hook up our stuff AND the ships channels and switch back and forth without unplugging.

Transferring your booking within the first 60 days will almost always be at the same rate you booked with Celebrity.    The advantage to transferring to a TA is to obtain additional benefits from the agent.   It is quite common to receive an additional OBC of 7-11%.

Below is a partial list of what one Online agency offers as an example.

    Onboard Credit Breakdown

    • Cruise Fare: $375-$500 per person - Receive a $25 Onboard Credit per cabin.
    • Cruise Fare: $501-$1000 per person - Receive a $50 Onboard Credit per cabin.
    • Cruise Fare: $1001-$1500 per person - Receive a $100 Onboard Credit per cabin.
    • Cruise Fare: $1501-$2500 per person - Receive a $150 Onboard Credit per cabin.
    • Cruise Fare: $2501-$3000 per person - Receive a $175 Onboard Credit per cabin.
    • Cruise Fare: $3001-$3500 per person - Receive a $200 Onboard Credit per cabin.
    • Cruise Fare: $3501-$4000 per person - Receive a $250 Onboard Credit per cabin.
    • Cruise Fare: $4001-$4500 per person - Receive a $300 Onboard Credit per cabin.

I agree with the 7-11% in my experience.  However those sample OBCs from the online agency are very low given the credit listed is per cabin not pp.
