  1. So the Illy machines that I am looking at on their website do not seem to have a pod system, so I can understand that you can't just set it to produce boiling water by leaving the pod out, like a Keurig. As for tea, no one who actually drinks hot tea regular will settle for a carafe of hot water. For black tea, especially, it needs to be boiling, and for green tea, just off the boil. I think I'll settle for coffee this trip.
  2. I'd like to know this too since we'll be sailing in warm climes in January.
  3. I'm sorry, but there's all this talk of hiding kettles. If they're allowed, you could bring one. If they're not, you shouldn't, should you? Like irons. BTW, the Illy I presume can make tea as well, like a Keurig? I'll probably bring my own favourite tea bags.
  4. I was just going to mention that! We board on January 21st , so take good care of her, @cwm, and thanks for doing this!
  5. Some years back we had an Avis car booked to be delivered at Cook's Bay and they never showed. Fortunately Albert's was there, and they took care of us. Not sure how they do it now, but their offices are closer to the two bays than Avis.
  6. Is there anything to know specifically about getting to the Port of Miami to park? We'll be driving from the Biltmore Hotel where we're staying pre-cruise. I presume we can just set our GPS with the address of the port, and then look for the correct terminal once we're through the gate? Eazy peazy?
  7. We did the Montreal to Montreal on Quest in 2018 and really enjoyed the ports. Did ship excursions on some, just wandered around on others, and spent our time on St. Pierre perusing the French patisseries!
  8. It'll be the old locks. The new locks are just for the huge new container ships designed for it (Post Panamax?) Plus it's way more expensive to do a transit through the new one.
  9. I'm looking at the deck plans and seeing the width go in and out. We are on deck 10, 1022, and it seems to me that ours are the wider ones. Hope so, would *love* to have a chaise lounge.
  10. Sorry, not sure what you're referring to. We're not cruising currently; Splendor in January.
  11. Hope you get out and do some excursions while you're there. I know you've been in Lima already, but there is so much to see--just hope that the Destinations people can pull something together!
  12. Yep. It's a health requirement. That's true of the meat as well, I believe. Too bad, but it is what it is.
  13. Wait. So you couldn't get the Daily Passages, or the port information? They certainly used to include the latter with the former, printed.
  14. Oh good. I assume you can get a Daily Passages on your phone too, but I like the paper.
  15. If the hotel stay and flight were booked as part of your package, yes. If you booked your own, then you'll have to take a cab.
  16. Looking forward to following your adventures. And @lprpthanks for the tip on the Crystal thread. Both relevant to us since we'll be boarding Splendor for the first time in a couple of months.
  17. It looks like it's about a mile away if I'm reading Google Maps correctly.
  18. And silly me, I didn't even know that Splendor had a vibration zone!
  19. Of course you can bring flowers onboard for your room. The issue will be if the steward can find a vase for you. Normally not a problem as I remember. Once we brought a stupid collapsible vase (picture it). That didn't work too well.
  20. I agree with Portolan, it's unlikely your requested tipple won't be included. Not exactly sure what the "connoisseur range" would include, other than perhaps aged Courvoisier or 10-year old single malt.
  21. That's good to hear, hope it's true on Splendor!
  22. Good point! That's another reason why we often paid deviation fees, so that we could choose our own flights and routes.
  23. Yes, Regent usually flies people in on the day of departure. So unless you're Concierge level (and thus have an included one-night hotel stay), you need to pay the deviation fee to fly in earlier, UNLESS you purchase a pre-cruise hotel stay through Regent. I myself have almost always paid the deviation fee and booked a lower-level cabin. That way you can choose your own hotel and decide how much to pay for it. And then get a cab to the port (which is way better anyways than taking the provided bus.)
