Thanks for posting your video. I have a question; did you leave the card in for the lights all day, every day or did the room steward remove it ? I would think it would make sense to conserve energy.
Just curious as we will be aboard the NA in just over 3 weeks.
Helen
The card never left the slot in our room. Same for our friends rooms, they all had cards permanently in the slots. It was a non issue.

Another Room Tour Video!
This is Stateroom 8024 - Standard Balcony Room on Nieuw Amsterdam! :D
Enjoy!

I watched this video on a very slow system at work with no sound. So I would like to ask, Could you see aft from your cabin? And what did you see looking down? How did you like your cabin and location?
Thanks for any help! :D
Yes we could see the aft of the ship if you stick your head over the rails. When you look down you see the ocean. We had the same room on solstice and we love the big balcony.

Here's a stateroom tour video of 9215 (Port Side Hump) on Silhouette that I shot this month.
This is one of the triple deep balcony rooms available.
Enjoy!

Thanks for posting this. Since we've booked the aft corner one deck below on Eurodam, this video is just wonderful.
This is exactly why I do these videos! Glad to be of help! :D

Thanks for the video! If you happened to visit the Neptune Lounge, were the "old standards" available on the sideboard? We love the Westerdam, but won't sail on her because of the Neptune situation. Thanks!
I didn't visit that lounge. Sorry.

Enjoy this Video of the Deluxe Verandah Suite 8169 on HAL Nieuw Amsterdam. This is the starboard aft corner suite.
Happy Travels! :D

I rented a Lido Cabana (Ibiza) and we used it on the very first day. You present your cabana confirmation to the attendant right away so he knows who you are. We used the Cabanas from the moment we woke up, all day and even in the evening if we wanted. It cost $199 for the entire 7 days. We got 2 Bottles of water, fruit, Chocolate dipped strawberries and bubbly every day. Loved it! :D

I shoot room tour videos (both cruise and hotels where I stay) and I actually shot a video a little over a year ago that had my first encounter with the room card being required to power the room.
Check it out! It's right at the beginning of the video. :D
Cheers :D

No. See posts 16 and 17
Thanks for your help! I did already read posts 16 and 17. I'm still wondering though :D You can't base anything on just two posts. But it's a good start. I'll let you know if I have any problems. I'm going to bring as many cards as I can dig up, Just in case they get pinched.
Why not charge them overnight, while you are in the room?I assume you are in your cabin overnight. I might not be. Winks. :D Seriously I have a lot of electronics and cameras. I charge day and night. Really! :D

No guarantee HAL is same as Queen Elizabeth but I suspect so. I found that when I took the card out of the slot, most of the circuits shut off but one or 2 stayed live. While in the room (perhaps with a flash light) take out the card, wait till the lights go off, and then look at each of the sockets to see if some are live. I left stuff that must be charged in that circuit.

I'm on Nieuw Amsterdam in less than 3 weeks. I'll test it out and report back! :D
And of course I will be doing my room video as well for you tube! I'll most likely talk about the power slot in my commentary. :D

Just off NA a week ago. Room always comfortably cool even if away from it all day. Used the AAA card in the slot trick, but noticed cabin steward pulled it up, but not out, each time they entered & left the room. So, good luck with that. My only concern was the A/C, and it seemed not to be affected, and I'm pretty sensitive to room temps.
I won't be happy if my camera batteries are stopped from being charged!

I wonder if the room attendants will confiscate your gift card left in the slot.

Any Rainbows on the Celebrity Silhouette - 14 Night - Holy Land Cruise on October 14th, 2014 out of Rome? :D
-
Curious, Did they offer any compensation or consideration for making you cancel and rebook?
$200 on board credit but I needed to choose a new cruise right away. I did! You can see it on my tickers. I also booked the Atlantis cruise. :D

I just ran into Robert on Navigator of the Seas. I met him on the Jewel in 2010. He told me he moved from Jewel to Voyager and then to Navigator. He misses the Jewel a lot. :D It's fantastic that he remembered me, and even asked me specific questions based on conversations we had over a year ago! he must meet thousands of people. Impressive man! :D

What kind of breakfast is it? Buffet or plated/served style? Had no clue they did this, very cool. Is it all JR's on all class of RCI ships, or just the Oasis class/larger ships?
On Oasis I ordered bacon and eggs in Johnny Rockets! We were served. I do not know about other ships. Sorry! :D
-
I thought there was a charge for Johnny Rockets.
There is for burgers, not for breakfast! :D

Relax its only a bathroom. Hardly a big deal when no one is in there. Not like people were using it.
Relax it was only a joke. But if I catch you in the men's I'll report you to security! :D
-
I took my group in to see it when it was empty. It was pretty funny coming out with 4 ladies when other people were coming in. So go ahead and have a look see.
 Gasp! Men only please! You won't catch us sneaking into the ladies!

Guys! Don't miss the waterfall urinal on Voyager! Pee with a view! :D

Apparently Barry the Barracuda frequents the beach at Half Moon Cay. He is real "friendly" and gets his kicks by surprising the tourists (like me).
Does anyone have a Barry story? :D
Here's mine! I had the video going when I was having a snorkel when I met Barry!
Cheers!
