  1. "Customs is a thing, and one should declare if over the allowed limit/items. But you'd have to buy a lot of T-shirts to go over $1,600 (the combined limit for two married people traveling together). Which cruise line are you on? Some of the terminals at Port Everglades have facial recognition for immigration and some don't. The former would obviously be faster." Yeah, I was mostly kidding about that. I seriously doubt we will have anything to declare. We are on Princess and I haven't been on a cruise for so long, I can't remember the terminals very well. Plus, I think they were working on at least one of them, the last time we were there (March 2020). Thanks.
  2. Yeah, I wondered about that but the facial recognition does seem to speed it up some. Do you think we could still make the 10 am flight, with those 2 checks? Thanks.
  3. This is helpful, thanks. I don't think we'll have anything to declare but DH is a sucker for T-shirts, so who knows 😉 Do you have sense of how long it would delay us if we have something to declare? We don't have Pre or Clear, but are taking SW. I'll make a note of the 'no restroom' advice and not drink any coffee until we're at the gate. Thanks.
  4. Hi all We are taking 2 cruises in Nov/Dec, one around the Med and Israel, the 2nd a TA back to FLL. We have a couple of choices for the flight home the day we disembark (Dec 8). I am wondering how long it will take to clear Customs when we get back? Any recent experience with this you can share? We will walk off the ship at 7 am (or whenever they let us), then cab to FLL. One flight is at 10:00 am and the other at noon. We really want to take the 10 am flight but we're worried the Customs check will take so long we won't make it. The 10 am flight gets us home at about 2:30, and only a short time between flights. The noon flight would have us killing time in the HOU airport for 4 hours, so not ideal 😉 Any advice would be welcome. Thanks.
  5. Thanks CM--I wish I had read this before we went to Dublin and I read that we should wear a shoe with 'strong support and good soles', like Merrills. I wore my Merrills and promptly got a bruise on my foot that haunted me the rest of the trip. We couldn't walk as much in London as a result, and that was a week later. A little different than your son's experience, so it may come down to the advice we see most often--wear a shoe that is comfortable for you From now on, I am wearing my good tennies--breathable, good grippy sole and soft enough to manage the cobbles. Just tried this out in the Galapagos and I am so glad I wore sneakers and not Merrills. But, I completely agree that you want to avoid bruising your foot on the cobbles 🙂
  6. I don't know how attached you are to X, or when you want to travel, but Princess has a TA from Rome to FLL: 15 Night Cruise from Rome to Fort Lauderdale Princess Cruises Enchanted Princess 15 Night Cruise Departure Date: Thu, Nov 23, 2023 Embarkation Port: Rome Return Date: Fri, Dec 08, 2023 Disembarkation Port: Fort Lauderdale
  7. I don't know if I can stand the stress of another game 😁 Plus, I caught a bad cold that started developing as we flew home yesterday. At least it is moving fast so I hope I'll be OK in a couple of days. Go Swans!
  8. At this point, I'll take any win they can get. But the Swans sure seem to be in a lot of close games. On an unrelated note, we survived the hike up Macchu Picchu, but my knees still hurt! What a spectacular place. Home now, trying to sleep and recover from all the running around you have to do on the Galapagos/MP trip.
  9. Yes, this may not be their year. Maybe next season <sigh>.
  10. Oh nooooo, another loss. Must have been a tough 2nd half for the Swans. Much sadness 😞 Thanks for posting Leigh. Hope your team did better. Galapagos are great, but the days are exhausting!
  11. We are in the Galapagos on our long-awaited cruise. Thanks for posting the score. At least it's not a loss 😉 Go Swans!
  12. Wow, what a win!! Maybe this is the beginning of a winning streak??? Or maybe not...😉 Go Swans!
  13. The game was shown here--at 3:30 am! I actually woke up just before 4 am and turned it on but I couldn't keep my eyes open. Maybe that's a good thing as it was another loss. Not really that close either. Oh well, there's always next week. Thanks for posting Leigh.
  14. Wow, thanks Leigh. I will keep this with our travel docs for reference. I tried to search online but didn't find this. Very helpful. ML
  15. Hi all We are taking 2 cruises out of Civi in November. They are back-to-back but not on the same ship. I know there are shuttles that move people around within the port (or at least, I think I know that!). Both cruises are on Princess and I am wondering if Princess generally uses the same piers or if it's very dynamic and piers change a lot. Anyone know of or have recent experience with piers for Princess ships? If it helps, the first cruise is around the Med and to Israel then back to Civi. The 2nd cruise is a TA that departs the same day we get back from the first cruise. Thanks for any help! ML
  16. Both cruises are on Princess. I wasn't sure if they had intra-port shuttles, so thanks for that. As long as they have that, I won't worry about getting off and then on another ship. Maybe there will be several people doing this and Princess will arrange something for us, but I'm not holding my breath on that! Thanks for taking the time out of your vacay to help. ML
  17. Yes, this is my plan, assuming we are close enough to walk and drop off bags. This is why I asked. I thought there was a chance we could be further away form the 2nd ship and wouldn't be able to walk between them. I guess we'll just have to wait and see where we dock and where the other ship is. I'm hoping they can help us with what to do once we are onboard the first ship. Thanks mate!
  18. Thanks, that's helpful. I'm not sure if we will actually walk around the town. I am wondering how hard it will be to get from one ship to the other. Is there a shuttle around the inside of the port area or can we walk from one berth to another, with bags?? Enjoy your cruise. Thanks.
  19. Would love to hear about what Civi is like from someone who has been there. We will be there in November, transferring from 1 ship to another on the same day. Is it hopelessly confused or is it very clear where to go/what to do?? Have a glass of wine for us before you disembark 😉 ML
  20. Nice view. And it looks nice and cool! Hope you're having a great trip.
  21. That must have been some 4Q. Just when I thought they had turned a corner. Maybe they did, but it went over a cliff 😉 Go Swans!
  22. Depending on the time of year, walking can be fun or not so much. Walking in the middle of summer would be miserable but in spring or fall not too bad. Even on a sunny winter day it could be nice.
  23. Zion is beautiful. Fun place to ride bikes too! (The kind you pedal, not motorcycles 😉)
  24. Love Zion--did you see Bryce also? They are both pretty spectacular, somewhat like the outback (but I've never been to the outback, just based on pictures). Yes, keep checking. They do seem to be covering more games this season, and a nice mix of teams. Safe travels.
  25. Thanks Leigh. That would have driven me crazy, not knowing why I couldn't find them 😉
