Actually inconsiderate is an adjective so it is not name calling as curmudgeon is a noun, it is. By your description you say I am not easily contented. That is definately not true. And I believe enough people on this board who have cruised with me or chatted with me would attest. For instance, Che would attest I am a very fair non-smoker and have never had an issue. 2Boyzmom would attest that I love being around kids. Mpk, Clay Clayton and ValleyVillage I think can attest that I am no curmudgeon. I have a good time. Just because I find walkie talkies and cell phones in a confined environment a negative I would NEVER let either ruin my good time. So, let's just agree to disagree on this one small issue that hardly defines someone in entirety.

There once was a lady from Dallas
Who always behaved without malice.
To be called a curmudgeon
Felt like a bludgeon
She's certainly not ever callous!

I agree with the Bonine suggestion. I used to get seasick every cruise now I take a Bonine each night starting the night before we board the ship.
This is the method I use and find it always works. Every night starting the night before. Enjoy!

The OP may mean Pai Gow Poker. I have played it several times on the Star. It's my favorite table game. It's the only one where you get to pick up your cards and ask for advice. It doesn't matter what you do, it doesn't affect anyone else at the table. Even the dealer will tell you what the house would do with the hand!

Biscuits and scones are definately NOT the same thing if someone knows how to properly make each one. :)

And, to make matters crazier, here in Utah, this is a scone:
Yep, that's right. Deep fried dough. Then you cover with butter and honey. And dial 911.

We've heard different stories here about the Butler Breakfast. The exceptions may have been limited to one concierge, who said she was trying to encourage the suite passengers to come to Cagney's directly.
Now, having said that, we never had a problem with getting anything we wanted for breakfast, served by our butler.
There is a specific (or at least, there has been in the past) suite breakfast menu, like a hang tag. Pretty much all the obvious breakfast choices!
I don't know Cagney's hours on the POA, but 6 AM might be pushing it. 7 AM would not be a problem, ymmv.

Another nice thing about the Sun workout experience is that, since they don't have a full spa, you may use the sauna without buying a spa pass!

I would choose the Star, mainly because I prefer a ship of her size. One thing to consider (Barcelona experts, please correct me if this has changed!) is that when a ship has Spain on her itinerary then ALL purchases on the ship will be subject to VAT.
Depending on your purchasing habits on a cruise, that could be significant!
Also, the SJ suites are the bargain of NCL. They are very affordable and they are FULL suites!

There is a website that is a word for a floating device that when it tips it rights itself its not a canoe but.... then add dotcom
You can use this site to track flight s putting in 2 or 3 or more different dates and departure airports and for arrival airports. For Europe you may want to look at nearby airports and possibly take train if the savings is big as the cities are no that far apart when it comes to the train system in Europe. The website is free.
We use it all the time for flights out off Toronto and are currently tracking flights for Panama cruise for 2015.
Lastly a good rule of thumb is to start looking closely three months out.
Pontoon? Inner tube?

Hi-
Now I am looking at photos and reading reviews, and I am not sure if I did the right thing. It seems as if this suite does not have the half bath and has some type of heavy door to the balcony.
I am unfamiliar with the half bath situation, but I can help with the heavy door business! We sailed on Star in one of those front facing, large balcony suites, and actually loved it! It is true that you need to keep your lights off at night or close the blackout drapes because the bridge is right above you and
reflections from below hinder their visibility.
We loved that large balcony. Some folks prefer the side location. It was fun "seeing what the captain sees."
During the day you can leave the storm door open and just use the regular door, unless, of course, there is a storm! If you do take that suite, one thing you will discover pretty quickly is that if you open the front door to the balcony and then open the door to the hall while sailing, it creates a wind tunnel and high hilarity will ensue! :D

Twice on the Star they featured an Indian Buffet Special Lunch on a Sea Day. It was delicious! I think it was called A Taste of India!

The butlers are also great if you have special requests for the room, like emptying the fridge, bringing in milk for the latte machine, extra pillows, etc. The first day we let the butler know what snacks and treats we prefer and that has always proven to be quite successful!
On one cruise we told the butler he could remove the sparkling wine as we were spoiled by the good stuff from the time we had an Owner's Suite. I asked if he could bring some of the house white or red, if possible.
He smiled and said he would see what he could do.
Next thing you know, there is a chilled bottle of REAL champagne on ice in our suite!
Turns out he was also the butler for the OS and they didn't drink! :D
I would never expect that miracle again, but it sure was fun.
Of course, he got an EXTRA BIG tip!

Don't worry, they have vegetarian and cooked options at Ginza. Try the shrimp tempura roll or the California roll. They are delicious!

Thank you all! Yes, the Dawn. We board on Sunday (and know of the long lines to get on board....knowing what is waiting for us once we're on will make the wait well worth it!):)
Just in case you have not done this before, and for the benefit of other Suite Lifers, on two cruises we encountered Terminal folks who didn't really understand where to send us. Suite, penthouse, etc. did not seem to get through. The magic words? VIP!
So happy for you, the Dawn is probably lots like the Star, our favorite ship.
Bon Voyage!

When you make a dinner reservation through the concierge, you just tell them the time, the venue, and the number of diners. The concierge will be able to accommodate your whole party!

Love the Star!
We have sailed in a minisuite, they are quite nice. The bathroom module is the same on they use for some of the full suites. I like the spa, so we got one on deck 11 right by the spa.
Research pricing for your cruise because on some of the ones I saw it was only 149 dollars more for a full suite! The SJ category is the bargain of the fleet. You get all the perks, great views (floor to ceiling windows, no balcony) and a wonderful luxury bath.
We did not miss the balcony at all!
Have a great cruise.

By any chance is there a clock in the penthouse suites?
We have always had quite a lovely clock in our suites. If it is not running your butler will supply a battery!
-
Found list. thanks everyone
Enjoy the Sun! She is great and since there are very few suites on her, you get extra special attention!:D
-
It is my understanding that you cannot buy a bottle onboard, except in the duty free shop. You don't get your bottles until the night before the cruise ends, however.
-
Hi OP!
I think a kind of blindness sets in when you panic about some bad reviews. You mentioned NO positive reviews for that sailing, but I found at least 3. Overall 72% positive reviews for the ship in general is the same as for the Star, and she's our favorite ship!
The Carnival Satisfaction Guarantee is not available on NCL. It is an interesting marketing idea, especially for first time cruisers concerned about all the cruise ship horror stories.
Go with a good attitude and I am sure you will have a great time. Please come back and tell us about your cruise!
Bon Voyage!
Richard

In the meantime, this is a GREAT recipe! Enjoy!

Your welcome
One thing I forgot to write about and that was the crew. They were fantastic!!!! Our room steward Chris, forget his last name was just great. Nice guy always smiling, always extremely pleasant, just a dam good kid. However they they seemed to be understaffed. I noticed this on Monday. I heard the Dawn had sent over 100 people home who worked on the ship from the Philippines. These were people who's families were missing. We completely understood the situation.
What made me sick to my stomach on more than one occasion was when a couple, usually older couple would whine and complain over the smallest things. God forbid you need to wait 5 minutes before your seated, petty stuff like that. I watch one woman unload on a young girl clearing tables, it wasn't done to her liking and she expressed that to her. The girl tried to speak to her in her best english but that was not good enough for the old coot. She told her to shut up and just do her job, I thought the poor girl was going to start crying. After the older woman left I went over and apologized for the rest of the human race
Laszlo, this post brought tears to my eyes and gratitude to my heart.

Sorry, but you lost me at "****s".

This is for Mike in San Diego.
A loaded question or complex question fallacy is a question which contains a controversial or unjustified assumption ( e.g., a presumption of nastiness).
Mini suites on the dawn
in Norwegian Cruise Line
Posted
We really enjoyed our mini on deck 11 aft because of the proximity to the Spa! We were able to use it as a second place to shower.
The concierge perk is no longer offered to the mini suites. I don't think people were really using it that much.
