We just sailed on the Jade out of Venice on 9/20. The second day of the cruise they began rolling out the new lunch menus. We had two different menus during the week. The Greek salad was greatly improved from the previous offering and the chicken nachos were very good and were enough for a meal rather than an appetizer. I took a few pics of some things

Wow! Each meal looks delish. The chicken nachos looks mighty good.
We sail in 6 weeks so will be excited to see what we will have. Love the old favorites just fine, but welcome the new menu.

What exactly are Carnival's temp guidelines? We are going on the Dream this month and can't handle a warm room. Thanks.
I think whatever your temp is, is their guideline. 82 was ok with the,. It is the humidity that makes it even worse.
We are booked on the dream and I have read a lot of negative about the ac.

Here is a link to a site with plenty of information about lots of ships;
And here is a link to one of the new lunch menus (this one from the Breakaway);

Hope this helps in what you are looking for.

Thanks for info. I did see the usual rib eye or New York strip ha been been replaced with something else. Loins trip or something like that.
The menu for lunch on breakaway is something I have not seen on the other NCL ships I have been on.
Looks like we may have new choices to make.
-
Does the lunch menu change or is it static for the entire cruise? Also, is that menu fleetwide?
The lunch menu is the same each day. We have been on 3 ncl ships and the menu was the same for all the ships.

When you say that they brought security, how did security respond? If you report an item of value or money as lost or stolen, typically they treat you like a criminal. How did they proceed in this situation?
Security did nothing but stand there. We guessed since we got nasty from complaining Maintance just brought them to make sure the heat in our cabin didn't spill over into bad behavior.

With a room temperature hotter than you're accustomed to and "so hot [you] couldn't stay in the room," not being offered a fan or an apology and being informed it was in their guidelines, why would you accept those conditions?
This was our second cruise (rather green). We did raise hell!!! All that did was each time they came to PLay with the ac they brought security.
I thing getting off the ship and flying home was our only choice.

Ok, so you have a few cruises under your belt this year and you may tolerate warm rooms more than other people.
But why are you discounting other people's experiences? On my cruise two weeks ago, we were warm. Much warmer in our room than any of our previous cruises over the past ten years.
Did it upset us? No. But yes, there has been a difference lately on CCL. Let's not pretend there is not just because you may not feel it.
Well the 82 was unexcetable !!! We had a window cabin and kept the curtains closed the whole cruise.
The response we got was as bad as the heat. Got to the point they brought security with Maintance , we made no threats but sure complained.
Yes, it ruined this cruise big time. ThAt being said we did continue to book cruises.

I have tried doing a search, no luck.
I have dug thru every past cruise folder.
No where can I find the lunch menu in MDR. I know it has been the same on last three cruises. If anyone out there has a copy please post.

Out of 13 CCL cruises we had one cruise that was so hot we couldn't stay in the room. Was told the temp was in their guide lines. We felt like we had taken a trip to hell that week. No offer of a fan. No I am sorry.
I don't find 82 or more to be comfortable. I can tell you right now I want be cruising on any ship that calls that exceptable.

Not trying to start a debate but I was born and raised fairly near the bayport terminal. The name houston and Galveston comes up often. The address says Pasadena , but it is actually between LaPrt and Kemah. I believe it is at lease 30 miles from Houston. It does sit at the edge of Galveston bay.
I have yet to figure out how they came up with this property it is out in the middle of nowhere.

Honestly for 1.99 min and no tax we just use the phone in the cabin. Ours has always had a little deal on it counting the seconds and mins.
With Verizon they tax you to death so it has been our policy to just use the room phone.

I am a planner also. I would go down to the desk that has all the specialty resturant menus (also you can make your reservation there) I would ask for MDR menu, then make my decision. Never had a problem booking. We have had suite last two cruises, but I still just made our reservation then.
Last cruise we had 10 in our group and was able to book the Asian resturant nearly last minute.
This being said we do eat early. By 6:30. This might make a difference.

I plan to use my OBC for the daily gratuity. It is mine to use as I see fit.
Guess rules are made to be broken so you feel the need to try.
-
You would be hard presses to get a 450.00 onboard credit for anything other than a suite, so I would assume also it has to do with a suite. All 3 times we had suites it was booked way ahead and we got 450.00 other cabins would be more like 40.00 and up
The 450.00 from ncl can't be used for daily gratuity, pre booked excursions and specialty resturants (prebooked)

Assume you will be driving over from Florida.
You can also park right at the pier. You pull up and unload, then drive up a level or two to park and come right back down the elevator to board. Very easy. Somewhat expensive, but parking in New Orleans is not cheap in most areas.
Come in a day early and enjoy New Orleans.
It has been a year since we cruised NCL. When did this change? CCL used the garage , then down the elevators to ck in. NCL parked in the open whale lot.
We used Fulton garage and shuttle ourselves.
Is the new garage they were building complete and now NCL has a garage also? We are going in 8 weeks.

We have never had a problem but I will say EVERY cruise we have gotten a paper delivered that show missing luggage for several guest. Some never get found.
For about the last 5-6 cruises we have just carried our own luggage on. Figure if I take it off, why not carry it on. We have learned to pack lighter anyway. I also like having my belongings put in place before muster drill.

Is it just jewel guest that has a new location for suite guest for breakfast and lunch or has other ships changed this also.
We were on jewel last November and it was still cagneys. Man they had some good bacon. Loved the waffles with all the fruit on top. Although I thought the star had better food in cagneys. Will be testing out the dawn soon.

For the ones that has gone to chichen itza I have heard it was wonderful. Our fir cruise we went to talum. Been there done that. It was March yet so hot I thought we would fry to death. Everyone raves about the ruins but for me it just didn't do it.
Cozumel is my favorite place to shop so I don't like to do excursions. We have been there 14 times and I still like it.
-
We all take the ones from Walmart. Bottle of 100 for 5.00 actually only take 2-3 per day (mealtime) then will in the gulf Bonnie at night also. Don't fell the need for Bonnie while in the calm Caribbean.
We cruise often enough my ginger never goes bad by buying bottle of 100.

If all 4 are eligible for Cagneys, you REALLY should do that. Can not figure out why you would not.
Yes me,husband and two grandkids will be in a suite. This is third thanksgiving cruise. Myself and granddaughter like MDR menu better. Crazy I know, but with the limited cagneys menu we get tired of what we like.

I could be wrong but I understood that the process to renew your passport was basically the same as getting a new passport. You still need to fill out the application, still need a photo, still need to pay the same fee. The only thing I understood was that you could send in your old passport and that might make getting the new one easier...
You nailed it. Grandkids just renewed and it went like you said.
Should say "new passport second filing" lol

Thanks for info. We are in a suite but 2 wants cagneys and 2 wants MDR. I am almost certain cagneys opens at 11:30 and was pretty sure MDR was noon.
Last cruise we were up at cagneys at 11:25 and had a few mins. Before they opened.

Right now all I hear is Walmart, Costco, Sam's, and Home Depot have all been looted, and all kind of hoodlums are doing home invasions
Downtown has been trashed, and Marshall Law has been invoked.
Sounds like New Orleans after Katrina . Why does a disaster bring out the thugs?

Does anyone know what time the MDR on dawn open on embarkation day?
Houston terminal?

This web site is extremely good for all the questions. I nearly choked seeing the rates for taxi's from airport.
We can easily drive it from visiting family in the port Arthur area. When we lived in Texas we went to Kemah often. This is a wal neat place.
