  1. The invite should definitely have been in your room if you were signed up. I'm surprised that nobody (ship staff) knew where it was.

On Independence, the location is usually listed as Pyramid Lounge but is frequently changed to the MDR - this happened to us in May but we received the invitation so knew. It's a shame you missed out on it. Ours was run by Activities Manager Tim Connor, so the activities staff would have known where it was during your cruise.

Hi Jo and Mary!!! Can't wait to see ya soon. Don't know why you left the RC, but no worries. Hope you are feeling well. Sending good thoughts:)

  2. I have seen this reported on here, a separate review and the RCI FB page in the last few days. Some people have reported though that it is only the hard wired ones, not all, but this is obviously dependent on the type of cabin.

I always take my own anyway but I can imagine it was a huge frustration to those already on the ship.

Hey Jo, the roll call is looking for you:) You are missed:)

  3. The skirt is black as are all of the tops.

Top #1 is short sleeved with peach and white beading (also at Marshalls for about 10.00!).

Top # 2 (actually 2 pieces) is a black tank of the same material as the skirt with a long-sleeved jacket with black and silver beading forming a floral pattern.

#3 is long sleeved with gold beads making diamond patterns all over.

Tops 2 and 3 came off of E-Bay. The prices ranged from $4.49 to 18.00.

I was determined to go cheap this time!

I have a nice long black skirt and I am sure I have some nice tops that I can mix and match. My SIL always tells me to go shop in my attic of clothes:) I did go out and bought several pairs of basic colored ankle length pants to mix and match too! I love a good bargain...got pants on sale for great prices!

  4. We have been on the Grandeur 3 times, even when she caught fire! She is a beautiful ship. The food was great in the MDR. The entertainment staff is top notch. The crew and staff are very nice. I did not smell any foul odors anywhere. She is small enough that you learn your way around easily but yet it seems more open and bigger. The guest entertainers were fun!

The centrum has lots of fun activities. Things on her are not perfect, but I would not expect that. Relax, breathe, and enjoy your vacation:) Off on the Independence in Nov....can't wait!

  5. Hi Lovcruising from California,

We are Dennis & Cheryl from St. Petersburg, FL. We are on the Indy to Ft. Lauderdale, too! We are arriving at Heathrow on the 31st, our flight arrives at 6:25 am and will take the HEX to Paddington and a taxi to the hotel, staying overnight at Marriott County Hall, whirlwind tour with a private cab and getting the Cruise Bus to Southampton via Stonehenge on Nov 1st!!!! I found the Cruise Bus info on The London Toolkit website at £59, not sure if it is the National Express. I have not made reservations for the bus yet. I finally made hotel reservations since the rates had not changed at all after checking every day for a couple months!

This cruise is for our 40th Anniversary! Where did all those years go?

Maybe we will be on the same bus to the Indy! We can't wait!

    Cheryl

Hi, we are on that cruise too! I am trying to gather info because we are staying about a week prior to cruise. Was the Marriott a good deal? We have to get transportation to the ship as well. Peggy We will be celebrating 39 years! Time flies when you are having fun!

  6. Hello Everyone!

Tomorrow along with my mom I will be embarking on Grandeur of the Seas for Back 2 Back cruises totaling what we hope to be 18 wonderful nights! If the WiFi, Internet, and Technology Gods allow I plan to post at least once each day….with pictures!

Luckily we booked these cruises far enough in advance that we were able to have the same cabin for both cruises.

Our itinerary for the first “week” (8 nights) is:

Our itinerary for the second “week” (10 nights) is:

    For a combined itinerary of:

I plan to post pictures each day and they can be found at

Although we have left out of Baltimore a few times before, this will be our first time on the newly renovated Grandeur! We have bookings at both the newly installed Chops and Giovanni’s table for dinner both weeks. Other than one excursion booked for Tortola to the Baths on Virgin Gorda we have a whole lot of “nothing” planned!

As long as I don’t bore you too much I invite you all to come along!

If you have any questions or comments please feel free to post them and I’ll answer them as I can.

    Off to finish [over]packing!

    Thank you,

We are also with ya on the 14th, so this will be fun to see how things are going this week:)

    Smooth sailings!

  7. newsflash

This just in at 9:45am today, wind and seas too rough, we're docking in Nassau a day early and staying overnight. Coco Day canceled. After the PA announcement, mutiny entailed onboard.. I'm hiding from the mob typing from the closet... Oh wait I mean this is actually a shower.

Still typing two days of info for you, but this has been a press release sponsored by cruise critic.

    Enjoy!
