  1. Howdy! My husband and I are going on a cruise soon (FOS), and it has come to our attention that a rather large group of about 800 people are sailing with us.

Has anyone experienced this? We are worried that large groups like this can take over public spaces when they come together to meet and/or hang out. I understand that they have their own shows to go to in reserved sections of the ship, but I have heard horror stories of large groups "annoying" other passengers, getting in everyones way, and generally "taking over" parts of the ship. Any input would be great! I am hoping to hear some good stories... its too late for us to cancel now...

We did one in 2004 and they were the Pampered Chef winners of yearly sales goals. IT SUCKED....They were type A and they were loud and dominated all the public spaces. Hopefully you will be a large group of mimes....Good luck.;)

  2. This was the first of your many, many ranting posts in this thread. Unfortunately, you lost all credibility halfway through when you decided using what is largely considered an antisemitic reference was appropriate. Maybe you should do a little more research.

.....never read Shakesphere I would suspect...........

  3. Originally it was 2 bottles up to 750 ml, so I would guess no. Get a Vacu-vin or other wine bottle closer that pumps out the air, and you'll be able to nurse a red for two days and a white for about 4 if you keep it chilled (that's been our experience, anyway).

.........not in my case....once the bottle is open...well....why take the chance of the wine "turning"......Cheers!......:D

  4. Why bring a bottle on board, 3 glass of wine per bottle (approx.) @ $6.00/$7.00 glass.( I drink the cheaper wines) Your still NOT ahead of the game!!!:(

I'm just buying mine on board, you get more for the buck!

Am I missing something here??

I like the way you think Benbea. Why lug bottles around when you are on holiday. Cheers:)

  5. To those posting concern over corkscrews; you can request one from your cabin steward and it is absolutly no problem. When you order or get complimentary bottles of wine in your cabin, there is always a corkscrew and glasses to accompnay the wine.

...yea but there is a $35.00 fee for the cork screw........

    (only a joke).....:D

  6. Misbehaving adults are worse because they have no respect for authority. Don't hold open doors, get on elevator before you get off, chair hog, cut in line, drunk and loud, ignorant, sneeze on buffet food, don't wash their hands in the bathroom, generally believe they are the most important person wherever they are.

At least small children don't know better, the adults should.

...and then throw into that mix a "status" level that certain cruise lines have than you have created a "CRUISINSTEIN". Out of control gimmee-gimmee, they owe me, arrogant, moron. Yea I would rather spend a day with a kid than a minute with a Cruisinstein....Right on Cruiseguy4567:)

  7. All I know is what happened to me. In the Med. at every port we brought back local foods back with us to enjoy in our cabin. We brought cheese, bread, olives, wine, spreads to put on crackers. Quite a wonderful local feast to enjoy our Med. cruise. We put it right up front when we boarded and they said "enjoy". But who knows? Just explain the situation and hopefully they will understand. Have a wonderful cruise.:)

  8. French balcony comes from the time in Paris where they would tax any and all aspects of living space. A true balcony would add taxes onto the house and a door that could slide open to reveal the same view as a "deck" as we term it today was developed. Also the Mansard roof was also developed as a way to add livable space to a structure and avoid taxes. The attic space although windows were usually in the system was still considered attic space and non livable because it was argued the slope of the "walls" was cosidered roofing system. Good thing some people write this stuff down.

  9. Oh, I'll be cruising, but not on Oasis, real soon! We have 3 cruises booked, all on the BR (cruised on her 18 times); we are doing the TA on Sept 8 and then B2B from SJ in Dec!

We just like some concierge better then others: Ricardo; Fernando; Willie; Luca; and if we can, we will cruise with them!!

Don't know who's the concierge on BR, but we really wanted to cruise on her again: she is my favorite ship.... :-)

I'm glad. I was worried that the concierge had turned into the focal point rather than THE GREAT TIME ON BOARD THE SHIP!:)

p.s.............now we are all jealous of your ambitious cruise scheduale.....;):)

  10. That wasn't our experience.

The cabin itself was very large as was the bathroom. What has always cause us difficulty with the DCL accessible staterooms is the ramp up to the bathroom (and our cabins on both the Magic and the Dream have had these). On the Magic it wasn't too bad but on the Dream it was quite steep - so steep in fact that we had to take my mother out of the bathroom backwards because she would fall forward in her wheelchair (and felt like she was going to fall out) when she went down front ways.

I also found on the Dream that there were many bumps (metal bars) in the floors which were difficult to cross over.

We have never been offered assistance with the wheelchair until it became apparent that we were in an impossible situation. When boarding - we were experiencing high tide so it was quite a ramp up - my dad was pushing my mother and when he was almost to the ship, the ramp became so steep that he couldn't move the chair. I had our carryons (a rolling suitcase and a carry bag), I put them down to the side to try to help my dad - it wasn't until the officer saw both of us struggling that anyone else came to help.

When we went into the dining room the first night (enchanted garden), the spot for the wheechair was set opposite from how we were brought into the table and there was another table close behind and beside our table - there was no way to turn the wheelchair to have my mother sit in that spot. I ended up moving another chair and place setting so that my mother could just roll up to the table on the side we were brought in on (I don't know if I'm explaining that well). It was just one of those things where I thought - "how in the world did they expect that we would be able to get the wheelchair over there in that spot?"

Animators Palate was the same thing - instead of having the spot for the wheelchair on the aisle, they had it set for the inside. The only reason the table was set correctly at the third restaurant was because we were at a half booth / half chair table so they correctly put the wheelchair at chair side.

While there was nothing severe, we didn't find DCL to be incredibly accomadating and my dad and I often found ourselves moving things or finding ways to accomadate my mothers wheelchair ourselves.

I'm sorry you had so much trouble.

  11. Some of my adult children did this class onboard the LOS..Something they would never do at home..They had lot's of fun & laughs..to us their fun was "priceless"..Also the fee you pay includes Cupcake Cupboard white chef type aprons to take home with you..Isn't that what vacations are supposed to be..fun memories..at least for us they are :D

BRAVO!!!!! and at least you won't run into any "grinches" while you decorate.

  12. Has anyone else had issues cruising with someone with a disability on Disney? I just recently got off the Dream, and I was extremely upset with the disney crew and their serious lack of "accommodations".

We were on the Dream and had one of the handicapped rooms. What a fantastic room. It was perfect for any kind of handicap especially the bathroom. The crew was really accomindating for my family and went out of their way to make sure everything was up to par. I'm sorry you did not receive the same care. Did you inform the cruiseline beforehand? I hope your future cruise(s) are better.
