  1. Thanks for the reply CajunFla!

Cruise is in early May - so hopefully fog won't be a problem by then.

If I book the earlier flight I will definitely request the earliest group for disembarkation. Have not cruised out of Mobile before so not familiar with how long it should take me to retrieve my luggage and clear customs.

Also, is transportation easy to obtain from the cruise terminal to the Mobile Regional Airport? Are there plenty of Taxis lined up (such as at the Miami terminal) or will I need to arrange in advance?

I'm assuming that the Mobile Airport is small and so it shouldn't take too long to clear security and navigate to my gate once I am there.

  2. I can't believe I held off for two hours before I did this:

I've seen lots of Cavaliers fans onboard still celebrating their NBA title. Including this guy:

We watched the championship game while on the Allure. As a former Clevelander (or at least a suburb of Cleveland) who now lives in Charlotte (aka Steph Curry Land) it was so much fun to be able to celebrate the win with actual Cavs fans. We were walking on air all week!!

  3. Just checked my set sail pass as it's printed off and ready to go in only 3 short days!! It took me a few moments to locate my C& A status (I'm Diamond) but I finally did. It was a "D" inside a blue square box. I believe it was in the upper right hand side of the document.

Hope you have a wonderful cruise!!

  4. And for this reason alone is why I have decided this is a wise investment for myself & 2 teens on our Allure sailing next week.[/

Hi Disneygirl1972 - looks like we are on the same sailing!! Who knows - maybe we'll be sitting next to each other on the pool deck texting our teens.....

Oh - btw - have you joined the roll call?

  5. I love how someone providing a helpful tip has now turned into a parenting debate.

Exactly!! Can't have a CC thread without someone being told that they are parenting incorrectly. Every parent and child is unique - there is no "one size fits all" parenting technique.

To the OP - thank you for the helpful advice. We are sailing the Allure with a group of 21 extended family members. This includes my two sons ages 12 and 16. On a ship this large I am thrilled to be able to have a convenient method of communication with them. This will definitely afford me some peace of mind and help me enjoy my vacation. Plus communicating plans with our group will be much easier.

  6. Celisse I figured you must have added me to the list as I got a flurry of followers this evening. I will do my best - very much a novice - but I have enjoyed others scopes so much I feel I need to pay it forward. I am cruising with a large group of extended family who will be pretty leery of scoping - so I don't know how frequently I will be scoping but I will do my best.

Geeocacher - thanks for the heads up on the fellow scoper. Maybe with both of us scoping there will be some decent coverage from the allure.

  7. Wow! My first cruise was on the Empress and she seemed so big at that time. My next cruise is on the Oasis. The size difference is amazing in that scale! My wife just said, "our cabin on Oasis is higher than the Empress is"

Same for me!! My very first cruise was the Nordic Empress in 1994. We also thought it was huge! Next week I board the Allure!

  8. He may have been referring to the menus in 150 Central Park or the menus in Coastal Kitchen which change part way through the cruise.

Yes. Saw Michaels scope as well - and agree that he was referring to coastal kitchen. I have a friend who is currently working on Allure (adventure ocean) and asked her about the MDR menu changing. She replied that she had no idea - and that thanks to CC I always know more than she does [emoji6]

  9. Hello everyone - I am Diamond and without a drink package on the Allure - therefore the Happy Hour lounge and 3 drink Diamond perk is fairly important to me.

I know that the lounge and drink perks are limited to specific mixers and alcohol. Unfortunately I have a hard time thinking of cocktails that can be created from the available list of beverages - so I normally just cop out and order a glass of wine or champagne.

I'd like to expand my DL options on this cruise and add some variety - so what are some options for me? Help me branch out and be creative!!

  10. No costuming needed for pirate night. Bandanas and face paint will be provided. Fir the glow party I would pick up cheap glow sticks, rings, necklaces at the dollar store - MUCH cheaper than what the cruise charges. ENJOY!!

  11. No, not on LB in May. Have to go to dinner for that.

[emoji20] Family cruise so we are all expected to dine in the MDR each night as a group. Still irritated as they removed the scallop/risotto from the MDR menu - therefore I was hoping to catch it at Giovanni's.

  12. Hi Kathy! The Loyalty Ambassador is basically the Crown and Anchor representative. Back in the day they would also handle future cruise bookings on the ship. Now - especially on the larger ships - they may have split this position into two separate jobs. (It's been almost 7 years since my last cruise [emoji33]) We worked with Cindy on several cruises and she is outstanding. Andrew reported she was on Allure at the beginning of the year so I was crossing my fingers that she might still be there. I'll find out in only 16 days!! In the meantime I'll live vicariously through Michaels scopes!! [emoji6]

  13. Cruised through Hurticane Bertha on the Monarch back in the late 90s. We were sailing out of San Juan the very day the Hurricane was scheduled to arrive. Set sail a bit late, changed our sail away route and skirted the storm the entire time. Very rocky seas - lots of motion (monarch was small compared to current ships). Never missed a port - though some excursions were canceled. Royal and the captain Tore Nervik did a great job navigating the storm.
