  1. I always book directly with the cruise line as we usually wait til near last minute to book (tax return/spring cruises ftw!!). I somehow stumbled upon this site during the first cruise I booked on my own and will research and check it daily for information up til my cruise departs. It's a great resource for booking your own excursions and learning about the ships and ports, etc... If you've never cruised before I recommend booking thru the cruise line first til you get an idea of how things work. I also only cruise from the nearby ports (Tampa/Port Canaveral) since I'm in Orlando and haven't bothered with purchasing insurance. Found out about snooze and cruise on this forum and the great deals to be had over on the east side. West side only good deals on parking. Would say it's just your comfort level and how much work you like to do. Otherwise you're just paying someone else for the fun of googling the information for you. Wonder if I could get paid for that...

  2. We are actually getting jetskis while in Nassau. I think maybe we will do the stingrays at GSC. Have you done that before?

I booked this on my own for myself and a friend, was about $100pp and they took us to the stingray island and rum pointe. Great deal compared to other companies, transport was included and I think we were on jet skis like 3 hours? I forget. But was great! Small group, they did the stingrays on your back and got some food to feed them.

  3. I've cruised a bunch and never eaten at the specialty restaurants. They plan out the MDR dinners so well there is almost always something different to try there. Now if you're on a longer cruise you may want to, or if you've cruised one line multiple times. Next time I do Carnival I will prolly want to try some specialtys as I've definitely done all the MDR meals by now ;)

  4. If you're booking via the cruise line yes, and since I think thats the private island thats the only way to go. They have priority departures for certain people and that usually includes prebooked excursions. So as long as you get your butts to the exit area in time you'd be fine :)

Now if you were booking an outside excursion at any other port probably not. As I mentioned before they let certain people out first. Then everyone else gets to line up.

  5. It's great to save the money. If you're prone to be picky or complainy, don't do it. You're just setting yourself up for disappointment. But if you're more happy about saving money and getting to go on a great vacation for cheaper than one of the snobby bastards you will prolly meet on the cruise, it's for you! You're not in the room most the time anyways. Get drunk and pass out, then go out and have fun. Only thing I ever notice about a room is how long it takes to walk there after being at port all day long.

  6. They could have presented a Certificate Of Live Birth issued by a hospital and that would not have met the the requirements of government issued BC.

We lucked out one year, we got to the ship with my friend who had never cruised before.. I told her to make sure she had an ID and birth certificate. Figures that's the cert she brought. But the head agent allowed her on thank the cruise gods. This year shes ordered her passport :)

  7. I would highly recommend any prescription medication, try it before you go on the cruise to see how it affects you. Any "home remedies" too, but those make sure you're actually doing something that normally makes you seasick to see if it'll work for you. I tried the ginger route on a snorkeling trip into the ocean. OMG it was the worst experience ever. So my go on that, take the drugs on the definitely will make you sick parts of the trip, try the home remedies on the lighter days. And I dunno about most people, but I can only afford cruising once a year... why ruin an your trip by not testing something works first? :)

  8. I was doing a practice booking to see how the prices compared now to when I booked... and it's showing interior at $0? Course when I tried to go replicate the site is freezing up on me now LOL

Oh wait was able to do it again, ooh I can get a haven for $0... wonder what would happen if I actually completed the forms.

  9. I usually just wear water shoe type sandals similar to Teva Tirra. They come in really cute styles these days and functional! I hate having to pack so many pairs of shoes on vacay. So those are my regulars, and I'll pack a pair or two for dress up times. That way even on excursions, no matter what you do, you're shoes can stay on your feet! :)

  10. I've only cruised Carnival before and on theirs you pick early or late dining. I'm sort of confused with the NCL set up. I was checking thru their site and the only thing I see for dining is either the paid, but I also see the complimentary under that too? How does this work? Do I have to prebook dining times this way? Or do you walk up and wait like I thought or I saw on other forums?

I have choice between Grand Pacific and Alizar, whats the difference? And if we did the prebooking does anyone have the scheduling for the 4 day to Costa Maya so I don't conflict with other activities?

Also, there isn't any entertainment scheduling like I see other people talking about? Is this ship smaller and they don't do that, only the bigger ships?

  11. Check the price comparison of interior vs ocean view obstructed if you looking for least expensive room. I found my cruise ended up cheaper with getting 2 of the free at sea deals with OV vs the 1 you only get with inside.
