  1. Cru1s1ng2009~Did I miss your purge/post? Sure would be interested in what you have in those sizes. My daughter and I are both big girls and it is so hard to find dress clothing in those sizes that are affordable. Our next cruise is one by ourselves n Sept. 2015 and without the boys we will have more chance to dress up LOL.

If you have already given away what you have then Thank you for paying it forward!! And hope everyone enjoys!

    Kelly

You didn't miss. I am sick as a dog. I have been sick for so long I don't even remember what normal feels like. I guess it is true that the older you get, the longer it takes you to get over crap. thought I was on the mend from bronchitis but it turned into pneumonia.

Ill make a list of who posted 1st, 2nd, etc. Im only rushing for Scrapnana cuz her cruise is coming first. she got the gray dress w/ jacket and black/blue swimdress.

did you send me an email? dorilee 73 at geemail

  2. Agree with the other poster's about booking 2 cabins...but if they are set on sharing a cabin then they will need to have the deck plans handy when they are choosing a cabin...insides, outsides, balconies & suites all have cabins that will hold 4...but not ALL cabins in each category will hold 4..the deck plan will show if there are 2 extra pullman beds, 1 pullman & 1 sofabed..or just the sofa bed..and from personal experience...the sofa bed in not very big or comfortable at all...also...are the adults going to be agile enough to climb into the pullman beds?

exactly. I had bruises all over my stomach getting in and out of the Pullman. It was just as comfortable but I had to make sure I wasn't getting up to use the facilities all night:rolleyes:

  3. We have sailed both Pride and Grandeur and we prefer Grandeur. The ship is a brighter ship while the Pride is dark and dreary. The adult area on the Grandeur is a covered pool with 2 hot tubs, the Park Cafe which serves breakfast, lunch, and snacks. The adult area on the Pride is not covered. Some of the show were better on the Pride.

We prefer to stick with Grandeur but if the right itinerary would be offered on the Pride, we may consider. We are 1 hr from the port so we do not really want to fly anymore.

You will enjoy either cruise you do as I feel any day on a cruise ship is better than the best day at work.

agreed. if the price is right Id go on it again.

  4. congrats to your mom!

I think the wheelchairs and such are very expensive to rent. I think like $200 a week or something. that may be an elec scooter though.its been a long time since I checked on it.

they have wheelchairs but you cant keep it for the duration of the cruise.

  5. I would love to try RC, but we're so used to Carnival that it's kind of like what if you try something new and you don't like it, I know if you don't try you never know. Is the Grandeur a good ship for a first RC cruise?

I know, its like sliding on a good pair of old shoes.

Seriously, the differences are small but noticeable. You will love it.

And Key West is such a great port of call.

  6. I haven't sailed on the Grandeur but I have been on the Pride and I wouldn't recommend it. We were on pre 2.0 upgrade so it may be better now. The vibration on the ship was really bad and was very noticible in the dining room and in the cabin. The decor of the ship was really dark and dated. It wasn't a terrible cruise because everything else was typical Carnival but I wouldn't go on her again.

oh I thought it was because we were sailing thru snowmaggedon. we had two handicapped rooms at the front of the ship. we were told there was a pass thru and that we didn't have to walk all the way down to the elevators and back up. not so.

We rocked and rolled everywhere. I was fine while in the room, it rocked me to sleep. well, except for the few times you could feel it slam onto a wave.

the dining room is at the back of the ship and same deal just more dangerous.

lots of seasick ppl so even though it is a fun ship, most couldn't have fun.

  7. I've cruised on both and love them both. We find the food on the Pride is better than on Grandeur.

But I think the Pride cruise is 7 days, not 8. At least it was when we did it and we did it several times. Might want to check on that again. Grandeur is 8 days.

I see that you love the ease of the Baltimore terminal too:)

I miss the ENoS but love the GOS just as much. Great staff!

  8. The Grandeur is 2500 CDN and the Pride is 2100 US or 2600 CDN, the Pride for 2016 goes to Nassau, Grand Turk and Half Moon Cay and Royal goes to Key West, PC, Nassau and Coco Coy. Both are 8 days. I've heard more good things about Grandeur. What're your thoughts on the two ships, are main factors when we book is price, food options, entertainment and activitys.

it all depends on what you want. Carnival is a major party ship and GOS is a medium party ship. both have pros and cons. all my opinions

    Pride:

Pros; best desserts, lots of dance parties, decent food,

cons; its cheaper so you get some trash on board, not the best food imo

    GOS:

Pros; better food, more family fun, very happy employees who treat you royally

cons: not many ppl at the night club, desserts blah, more expensive

cococay is just as nice as half moon cay, key west is awesome!!!!

  9. So I have a question for the seasoned cruisers. We live in northern Florida (about 8 hours away from Fort Lauderdale), and just found out about a very important event we need to be back for the same day we return. We are sailing on Oasis in May. If we self embark meaning we carry our own bags off, should we be able to get off of the ship pretty. Can anyone tell me the earliest time you have been able to get off? Everything I've read shows that the ship comes in very early and I've seen where people have been off by about 6-6:30. Does anyone here have any experience in this matter? Thanks!

as soon as they allow you to disembark, which is usually 6 or 6:30 you can go if your carrying off. be up early to be first in line. That's a bummer you got to rush like that.

  10. My husband goes every day. He said there was not one on Enchantment - did he miss it somehow?

I love Enchantment and wish it was still with us in MD.

I get lots of spa txs but I cant remember if there was or not to be honest. I think there was at least a sauna in the locker room. Well, the womens locker room that is.

I just cant do it. We get sauna all summer long, no thanks.

Ive been on Grandeur twice and cant remember if they do either...

  11. This is kind of off topic, but I have the same feelings about going into a cheap restaurant (like a diner). For example, if we go to a diner and breakfast is $10 I still tip $4 because the waiter does as much work as the one where I would pay $20. I figure just because the food is cheaper it doesn't mean the service is less worthy.

    Tom

Me too! And as a waitress at Bob's Big Boy back in the day, I thank you.

Ill never forget living on tips as a young mother. Being good at what I did was crucial to our survival.
