  1. Yes that has been the normal routine for us also to receive emails, of course this was pre-pandemic. We have been cruising for over 25 years and never had this happen before. My intent was not to stir up all the "pot stirrers" out there, but to let everyone know what to expect if this situation occurs, or hopefully help someone not to make the same mistake I did. I should have known better than to post on this site and what would develop.🤣
  2. Yes because if I were to rebook I would have lost $1,000 in OBC & FCC. As well as the rate was $440 more. So I decided to take my money elsewhere for this trip. It does make sense if you were me.🙂
  3. Yes this a booking that originated in 2019 on Mardi Gras, and had been changed 2 times all by Carnival, she had a hard time looking back to figure out what they had done in the past. But like I stated the specialist did refund my cruise deposit with no penalty because she totally understood my point of view as well. I usually do the calendar also, but just slipped up on me.
  4. If you read my entire post I stated I never received any emails whatsoever before, on , or after due date. There are some problems in their system, the resolution specialist agreed with me. Therefore refunded my entire deposit (which was a refundable booking). My point was that they are being very strict with their rules now and I didn't lose a penny (just money they were giving away to begin with) but some might not be as fortunate. I chose not to rebook in order to try some other cruise lines. I only posted this to let others know how they are handling things as of right now. .
  5. So just got off the phone with Carnival after an hour with a resolution specialist. Final payment was on 8/7/22, had lots of issues going on, and forgot to check on the actual date until today 8/12/22. Long story short I missed my final payment, never have before, and we're long -time Carnival cruisers. Just a heads up, I received no email stating "your final payment is near" prior to the date. Never received an email on the date "hey you forgot your payment, hurry and pay now". Never received a cancellation from Carnival saying "your cruise was cancelled for non-payment". So don't rely on them for any heads-up from now on. I know it's my responsibility, and I assume that, however, it was nice to get those little reminders when we get caught up in everyday life. When we used to cruise all the time it was like second nature, but we just started back this year, well we were trying to, lol. Anyway, as a result I lost $600 OBC, $434 FCC, and the rate went up by $440. So I just cancelled the booking, and decided it's not worth it. The rep. refunded my deposit because of all the trouble, however she said they have cracked down since end of June and aren't allowing any exceptions in these situations. It's kind of disheartening, I'm not trying to cash in on anything, just trying to get back to cruising. Guess I will just take my money to another cruise line for now. There are some major glitches in their system right now as far as communication goes, hopefully they figure it out and work out the kinks. Hope this can help others avoid this situation, we all fall short sometime. 🥲
  6. So I spent about 3 1/2 hours one time, then another 1 1/2 hours a second time, and finally right at 4 hours on hold to just get a cabin assignment from a changed ship itinerary as well as my husbands FCD $50/OBC reinstated yesterday. My husband laughed when I added up all the time spent just to accomplish 2 things. He said I wasn't getting paid enough 😂. I realize there are a lot of change-ups lately with ships, however Princess is the one making these changes, so it falls on them. I finally got my issues resolved, but thankfully I work from home and could just leave my cellphone sit on my desk beside me playing that terrible music over and over again. Not everyone has the time to do that. Whoever is making these decisions to change these ship assignments needs to be on the receiving end of these customer service calls and have to deal with the aftermath. I'm done with my rant for now, hope everyone has a great day!
  7. The more of these changes and cancellations that I hear about, make me believe we will not be re-booking our Alaskan trip for quite awhile. An Alaskan trip is a very expensive cruise to take and to have all of the important excursions not being available cancelled is very disappointing. When we had our 2020 Cruise cancelled I never thought we would be 2 years later and still not being able to re-book. Maybe 2025, things might be back to somewhat normal? 😂
  8. Actually we were in a mini-suite on the Emerald Princess for a Panama Canal cruise in March. We were in E731, the very last balcony at the back of the ship on side, it had the super huge balcony, and we loved it! Now don't know if that's an option for you, but it might be comparable. It was so quiet at the back of the ship and we would definitely book again. We are also doing the Canada/New England 7-day transit on 10/14/23, but was hoping to go on a newer ship to try something different. 🥲
  9. So curious about redeployment itineraries and room assignments. We had this happen last year for a cruise, however the ships were the same type of class and we were just moved to the identical cabin on another ship. For this Regal to Emerald change, they are different classes of ships and therefor the same cabin isn't same class of cabin. What has been anyone's experience been with this type of situation? Hate we have to wait till the middle of July to find this out, might rethink this booking for next year.
  10. Might be a good place to wear them. We are pretty sure this is where we picked up Covid on our cruise in March. Such a densely populated area and so crowded everywhere we went. Even though we did a ship excursion to remain in a "bubble tour" as they referred to it, once off the bus, exposure was pretty high everywhere we went.
