  1. My husband never takes a jacket - he wears a polo shirt or short sleeved shirt and black or grey trousers or chinos wherever we dine, including the speciality restaurants. I wear trousers and a nice tops most nights, and I usually also take a couple of maxi dresses as well.

  2. It seems to be hit and miss. My button appeared about 6 weeks before our cruise. I didn't order any as I had applied for an LCV upgrade., and didn't print my XPress pass either. I got offered the upgrade and when the revised XPress pass appeared the button was no longer there. I then did as others had done and printed the paper ones off and put them in the holders I had previously bought from Amazon.

  3. Maybe that also explains the price we got offered on our upgrade from ocean view to verandah for our forthcoming cruise. We were charged £218. I expected it was the LCV upgrade of $398, but when I worked it out that was an exchange rate of 1.85, much higher than the current 1.5. Not that I'm complaining as it's less!

  4. Just finished a wonderful book The Storyteller by Jodie Picoult. Such a well written book with a great story relating to the holocaust and forgiveness. I couldn't put it down and was really sorry when I finished it.

  5. Although I'm not a fan of shower curtains, I think Azamara do the best they can with the rigid end to the curtain. It's certainly not something that would put me off - everything else is so good, I can put up with a shower curtain.

  6. You can't share with other account holders, but several devices can use one account, so you can register your Kindle, your husband's kindle and your children's kindles all to one account so long as you trust them not to spend a fortune on the account!)

  7. I read every day and also use a Kindle. I buy my books mostly using the Kindle daily deal - they offer several books every day at 99p via an email. I presume this is also offered in the US, but don't know how much the books will be. You can sign up for it on the Amazon Kindle site.

One book I have down-loaded ready for my upcoming cruise is The Martian, having seen all the reviews for the film.

A series of books I have recently read and enjoyed is the Gone series by Michael Grant.

I also use audio-books, but not on cruises. I listen to them whilst in the gym, makes it much less boring. I agree tho' that it can be confusing switching from audio book to Kindle book!

  8. Wasn't really thinking of buying a bottle from the shop, but you may be able to buy a bottle from the ship/bar. On Holland America we have bought a bottle of gin from the ship, then ordered tonics on room service - worked out a lot cheaper than buying drinks at the bar!

  9. You can take bottles on board so long as you drink it in your stateroom. You can always call at the bar on the way to your stateroom and take a drink there yourself. I presume you can buy a bottle on board, but have never asked!

  10. You need to fill in the on-line check-in form to give your passport, flight and credit card information - find it through the link at the bottom of the web-site. You will then be sent an e-mail telling you can print of your XPress boarding pass, cruise documentation (itinerary etc) and luggage labels (we got our email 7 weeks before the cruise). There is also a link saying you can send for luggage labels, but lately people seem to be saying they don't arrive. We have bought some plastic luggage label holders from Amazon, described as being suitable for Royal Caribbean and Celebrity luggage labels, and will print off the paper labels and put them in these.

You can also look at the other ships excursions and see if you want to book any of them before-hand - or alternatively do some research on the various destinations of your cruise and see if you can do things on your own, or book private excursions.

You can also look for the Roll Call for your cruise on Cruise critic - go to the roll call forum, click Azamara Roll calls, click the ship (Quest or Journey) then look down the list for your cruise. This is very useful for finding other passengers to hook up with to book private tours at much less than ship's excursion prices - on our forthcoming cruise in south-east Asia a group of 10 passengers have booked 4 excursions together in Vietnam, and others have done likewise for Thailand.

The main thing is to look forward to your cruise - you'll love it, especially if your first time on Azamara - they're fantastic.

  11. I'm amazed. We cruised on the Journey in 2013 and the Quest in 2014 and had some great night's sleep. We loved the bed and we like mattresses on the hard side.

  12. We are in the Uk and unfourtunatly I hadn't realised the best price quarantee was for the US only.

Haven't spoken to my TA yet as he's having a couple of days off.

The offer is for onboard credit.

I have left my TA a message.

However we are asking to upgrade the cabin at the same time.

I wonder if we will qualify for the onboard credit offer.

I shall now ask both questions I.e can we stay where we are and get onboard credit or if we upgrade to a suite will we get onboard credit.

I shall keep you all informed.

Interesting that the Best Price Guarantee did appear on the UK website for a while, but has now disappeared!

  13. No it is not correct. There is a show of some sort in the theatre every night, sometimes the ship's entertainers - singers and dancers, or just the dancers, or a comedian, or a singer/musician. I think the person above talking about a lack of entertainment was saying that Az used to have musicians/ duos etc performing in other rooms in the evening. Two years ago they had a guitarist playing in the Discovery bar before dinner, but that wasn't thee last year. They do have a pianist playing in the Casino bar in the evening.

  14. No idea, but we did that cruise last year, and the year before, and loved them. We booked these cruises 'cos of having new knees (husband the first year and me last year) so didn't feel able to spend a lot of time walking around towns etc.

However, I would have to say that we love laying in the sun, so all the sea days were great for us. I know there were quizzes every day and lectures too. Also it was interesting to see the security guys around the ship and to talk to them. The Suez Canal is interesting - guards at various points along it - happy to wave back when we waved to them.
